If it makes you feel better, Europe got both Tomb Raider: Legend and Tomb Raider: Anniversary a week earlier then the US.
It was brutal going through a full week of "HAHA we got it, you don't!" "HAHA I'M ALREADY DONE WITH IT!" from some kind folks on the Planet Lara forums lol. Which still boggles me since Tomb Raider is now developed by an American video game company, rather then before when it was developed in Derby England...go figure? I guess Eidos Interactive is in charge of where it get's released first...

Anyways a Jungle Book gift set would be very nice even if it is a UK only thing...I would have at least thought TLM or Peter Pan would have released a gift set...but ah well I do like the Jungle Book...perhaps I would buy over eBay or something...and just buy a region 1 Jungle Book Here.

The box set is beautiful. Too bad I have to save my money and buy textbooks, this means just the PE for me.

I know that feeling! Thankfully though, my textbooks are already bought and paid for. :D But still, I don't know if I'd even have the money to buy the giftset considering the DVD's I'm planning on buying...(primarily Looney Tunes GC 5, which will be $50...)

The Deluxe Edition boxset has been added to another UK retailer (sort of), so yes it's coming (but Amazon still seems to be a little behind on their listings)

Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Yeah I was at blu-ray .com and found a thread about the Jungle Book on blu-ray. I got a link of a page.

I was just coming on here to see if anyone else had heard this news.

All I can say is..... WOW!!!!!!

I was really miffed that it was coming out on DVD, and would be another 7 or 8 years before we'd see a Blu Ray. I think Disney need to be releasing all the re-issues of the animated stuff in Blu Ray alongside the DVD's, so this is awesome news if true.

I'm slightly torn about this news. Sleeping Beauty seemed to me to be the perfect title to jump start the animated classics on Blu-Ray (not counting Chicken Little and Meet the Robinsons). I've always said Disney's 2-D animated classics would be what makes me dip into Blu-Ray, and while that's still true now, Sleeping Beauty's a more ceremonious title for me to start with than The Jungle Book (which I like but don't love).

Still, this is my own anal problem. It really is good of Disney to start the BD animated plunge so early. I'm not sure if I'll buy the BD of Jungle Book when it's released, but I'll probably pick it up some time next year. The good news is that since Sleeping Beauty won't be the first 2-D BD from Disney, we can expect to see other titles released throughout next year (Alice, anyone?).

That article says that there will be a DVD, 2-disc DVD, and a Blu-Ray DVD. I think they are mistaken...since there will only be a 2-disc DVD and a Blu-Ray...I don't even know if I believe them about TJB on Blu-Ray...why would they mention a non-2-disc DVD????

That's true, and didn't Disney's 2008 Blu-Ray press release specifically state that Sleeping Beauty would be the first BD Platinum? Even if they've come to a recent decision to give Jungle Book that honor, I can't see Disney's press release team being sloppy enough not to edit Sleeping Beauty's announcement. I'll wait until Luke gets word from his BVHE contacts before I consider this official.

A bit off topic. I was reading that Sleeping Beauty will use a new technology (atleast to me it's new) called BD Live technology. Does anybody know what this is?

Well, the Jungle Book BD news was posted on UD's main page briefly (about a half an hour ago), then retracted. Wonder what's with the schizo behavior?
Life often leaves us standing bare, naked and dejected with a lost opportunity. Over the bleached bones and jumbled residues of numerous civilizations are written the pathetic words: "Too late."

I have to admit I'm a bit sceptical about this talk of The Jungle Book on Blu Ray. I hope it's true, but I think it's more likely they've got it wrong.

Man! First Ariel didn't get her much deserved Box Set, and now The Jungle Book gets a Blu-Ray Disc release? Blu-Ray was out last year too, The Little Mermaid totally got cheated.

i would much rather get the little mermaid on Blu-Ray,
but i guess last year not a lot of people have the right players,
actually not a lot of people have them now, the only advertisements i've seen for Blu-Ray was on disney DVDs

From the digitalbits website
"There have been reports around the Net in the last few days that Disney's The Jungle Book was being released on Blu-ray Disc later this year, day and date with the DVD. This is NOT the case, and I've confirmed that with senior BVHE personnel. As was announced early this morning, Sleeping Beauty will be the first Platinum animated title on Blu-ray in 2008. Just FYI"

Thanks so much for posting that, steven132! It's nice to know the real news! :)

It's just very disappointing for those of us who have the Blu Ray format that we have to buy the DVD and that it could be another 10 years before we see it on Blu Ray. I am very much looking forward to Sleeping Beauty though, and I think that's a more appropriate title to be the first Blu Ray release - it should look amazing.
