Jungle Book Platinum

Post by Mason_Ireton »

I checked out the site a few mins ago and they updated it with RESTORED flim clips and it's totaly awesome, very good and free of dirt, highly worth buyin, they went so far with Jungle Book's Restoration, I'm glad Walt's last/personal film had the respect it reiceved from the restoration company.

A good examples of the restoration scenes is

Bare Necesstices

Shere Khan

and Be Like You

The Vultures sequence is kinda hard to tell but so far the sequence looks marvelous and funnier too.

Thank you so much, Mason, for posting this! I actually looked yesterday, but no video clips then. So I guess Disney posted them today.

All 4 of those scenes look wonderful. It really gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside to see Disney give excellent treatment to one of my all time favorite Disney films (and one that I believe is extremely underappreciated). And being that I have the LI, I can say without any doubt that this upcoming DVD set will be ten fold better than the LI as far as bonus features, video and sound quality, and well...everything! :P And again, I CAN'T wait until October 2nd to buy this set!!! I guess I can consider it an early birthday present...to myeslf??

The selfish part of me is also hoping that TJB turns out to be the best platinum to date, so that it can be, well, better than all of the others...particularily TLM, which I believe is highly overrated to begin with. :P

Dang it, that's so beautiful and attractive, I'd defintly purchase the giftset just for the box. I believe we will get the gift set, but wow!!!!!!!!! that box so precious and lovely too especialy the lil pic of Baloo/Mowgli dancin.

Now if Disney was smart enough to release Jungle Cubs in full seasons then my Jungle Book dvd collection (Talespin vol. 1/2) would be complete with Jungle Cubs

Right now, I am EXTREMELY jealous of those in the UK!! But Mason, do you REALLY think we in the US will get this giftset? Wouldn't this be a little late as far as advertising? I mean, we're going on almost exactly one month from the release date. And if we DO get the gift set in the US / region 1, do you think (by you, I mean not only Mason, but everyone! :) ) it will be released on or AFTER the release of the regular set?

One thing I found interesting about the restored clips on TJB's website was that they were in fullscreen, not the widescreen that is on the DVD. So, that proves that Disney DID restore the entire picture. Is there then a hope that Disney will include the widescreen and fullscreen versions? But once again, the restoration looks beautiful. It's about time that TJB gets the treatment it deserves. And, speaking of restorations, did Lowry restore Jungle Book? Or was it someone else (like TLM)??

I agree BBear, I'm jealous of the UK too *grumbles* but all is fair in love and war....I think....*laughs*

We (USA) got the giftsets of Cinderella, Aladdin and Lion King on their release dates so chances are, if the US did recieved JB's Giftset, it'd show up on the day the film's planned for, Oct. 2nd.

WTF

How come this gets a Collectors DVD Gift Set? The Little Mermaid should have got one! I am fuming mad, :x :x :x

THIS IS BULLS***!

Grrrrrrrr, :x I cannot believe this! The Little Mermaid also had a October release, and it was the only one since these gift sets were made to not have one.

UGH! So not fair, I must complain.

they are just lazy.
in Israle it's worse-we sometimes have Platinum Editions in one disc version! i don't know about The Jungle Book yet but Snow White,Beauty and The Beast,Cinderella,The Little Mermaid and Lady and The Tramp had one disc version and Lion King,Aladdin,Bambi and Peter Pan got two discs version (and i won't be suprised if Sleeping Beauty will have one disc version as well),i have Cinderella and The Little Mermaid in Amrican version.
we don't have any gift sets either.

Wow, that looks really cool! I'm a bit surprised this film got a Gift Set when some of the other films such as Peter Pan and The Little Mermaid didn't get one. I hope we get this in the States. I probably wouldn't buy it, but I would want everyone here who WOULD buy it, to have the opportunity.

Hey,

So, I'm now really skeptical about this "gift set" for TJB. Is this site reliable, 2099net? I mean, I checked amazon.co.uk, and the set didn't show up and it isn't showing up on other sites as well. (US or UK).

But if this set does occur (definately in the US, maybe in the UK), I will buy it. I've told myself since Cinderella came out that if Jungle Book got a gift set, it would be the one and only one I would buy and splurge on. (It was the only Disney movie that was an absolute favorite of mine as a kid that I NEVER owned...)

Honestly, (please don't through rotten tomatoes at me!!) I think that Jungle Book deserves special treatment far more the TLM. I mean, it was the very last film that Walt Disney himself had any influence on (as we all know) and it also has fabulous music which used jazz music (while it was controversial before, so in a way that adds to JB's importance). As far as historical significance, TLM has two things going for it. It brought Disney Animation Studio's out of the slums ("Dark Age") into the "Disney Renniasance." It is also the first film to use so many special effects since Fantasia.

As far as achievements, I think Jungle Book needs more recognition than Little Mermaid does. And in the eyes of Disney, they might have viewed the situation in that TLM sets will sell well no matter whether there is a gift set or not. Yet with Jungle Book, many might not buy the set like they would easily buy TLM or Peter Pan. So to try to boost sales, Disney might go back in the swing of gift sets to encourage people to buy these fabulous sets. (But then again, that wouldn't really explain Lion King or Cinderella...or even Aladdin for that matter... :| )

But none the less, if we get a gift set in the US, I think it will be well deserved. :float:

Yes, its reliable. Play is one of the top DVD retailers in the UK. And the Giftset (and the twin-pack of Jungle Book 1 & 2) were only added today. Amazon is most likely a day or two behind on its listings.

Everyone knows a twin-pack of Jungle Book 1 and 2 is more than very likely for the UK - every classic release gets a twin-pack - but no other sites list them yet. So its pretty clear other sites don't have everything listed as yet.

That's not a very nice attitude to have.

I could care less about the gift set. It's not a big deal, anyway. I'm not jealous. You foreigners can keep it! :P

Sorry but I do feel a little jealous of the US and not just when it comes to DVDs, games too, you can get them sometimes weeks or even months ahead of us and with more features, it's very rare we get a set you don't
