Harry Potter 7 Ending: Leaked?
Found this article, won't reprint the whole thing as it trails off to regular stats about the Harry Potter series...
Hacker claims Harry Potter's alleged ending on Web
The mystery surrounding the end to fictional British boy wizard Harry Potter's saga deepened on Wednesday with a computer hacker posting what he said were key plot details and a publisher warned the details could be fake.
The hacker, who goes by the name "Gabriel," claims to have taken a digital copy of author J.K. Rowling's seventh and final book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," by breaking into a computer at London-based Bloomsbury Publishing Plc.
For months now, leading up to the book's July 21 release, legions of "Harry Potter" fans have debated whether Rowling killed Harry or one of his best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, in the final book.
Gabriel has posted information at Web site InSecure.org that, if true, would answer that question.
"We make this spoiler to make reading of the upcoming book useless and boring," Gabriel said in the posting.
"Harry Potter" publishers have taken great pains to keep the conclusion a secret and preserve the multibillion-dollar entertainment enterprise surrounding the boy wizard.
A Bloomsbury spokesman declined comment on the hacker's claims.
Kyle Good, a spokesman for U.S. distributor Scholastic Corp., would not say whether the posting was accurate, but did warn readers to be skeptical about anything on the Web that claims to have inside information on the book's plot.
"There is a whole lot of junk flying around," she said. "Consider this one more theory."
David Perry, a spokesman for computer security company Trend Micro, said there was a good chance Gabriel's claim could be a hoax.
"We've had hypes like this on the last couple of Harry Potter books," he said. "There is a very high level of spurious information in the hacker world."

Now the question is...should I kill my curious cat and check out InSecure.org? Or should I wait patiently like every other HP fan?

I think you'll be extremely disappointed with yourself if you jump the gun. Why spoil what may be the best moments of something you've invested so much time in? Why rob the "ending" of the journey that takes you there? (Assuming the hacker's story is true, of course... but even if you read it and it turns out to be false before the book release, do you really want to know the book doesn't end that way?)Escapay wrote:Now the question is...should I kill my curious cat and check out InSecure.org? That said... I doubt this guy really hacked the book or knows anything about its contents. If he did manage to somehow pull it off, then shame on him. I just hope the contents of this website aren't revealed in the mainstream media because, true or not, I'd rather not hear what it says.

The article seemed like it was written by an un-Potterish three-year old. I'd say it's clearly a hoax. If someone WAS trying to deceive us, then he needs a much more convincing stratagem.

I definately agree with Aaron on this one. That hacker is wasting his time, cos' I'm not reading his hackings.
BTW, yesterday I started rereading Philosopher's Stone. I haven't read the books for at least two years now, so I'd like to refresh my memory. I intend to reread up to Half-Blood Prince, and then I'll try purchasing the new book. Gonna take some time though.

Just in case the person did have the real ending, I won't read it. When Half-Blood Prince came out, there was mass betting that Dumbledore would die even before the book came out. Luckily Rowling's great storytelling made me not wonder or wait till the end of the book whether he will die, because I was too busy with the story.lord-of-sith wrote:Yes, I have to agree, regardless if it is true or not, I'd rather just not read anything that might ruin the experience of reading this book.
I'm going to bookmark the pages though, I want to see how accurate their endings are after I read the last book.

People all over IMDb's Harry Potter boards were posting the "ending," and in thread titles, no less. I personally don't believe it. There are always wild and absurd "spoilers" posted everywhere before each Harry Potter book, and they've all been false except for the major one for Half-Blood Prince (which, thankfully, I never read/heard about till after I finished the book). The security measures for Deathly Hallows are insane right now. I highly doubt someone can casually just hack into Bloomsbury's computer system and conveniently find the entire typed manuscript for the book, no less. I think the reason Scholastic's not confirming or denying is because there's probably an off-chance that at least one portion of the spoiler is true (aka a lucky guess), and if they deny it, then readers will be ticked when they see that aspect show up in the book, afterall.

well a reliable Harry Potter website, Mugglenet.com, posted this as news and said that's its impossible to hack scholastics computers so its most likely a phony ending. since the're reliable i trust them.

I don't belive this guy.
I haven't read the spoiler, because I want HP7 to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Just imagine, maybe in like 50 years or more our grand-kids will ask us what it was like when HP7 was released, and how we felt!!
I don't want to spoil it for me, so I try to avoid all spoilers.
It's just sad how some people try to get some attention by postin possibly just wrong stuff that they made up themselves.

this ending would probably be alright if it was a fans' fanfic of the 7th book, i know it might be since i've seen a couple on fanfiction.net. and i hate how people are always using disney or Harry for 5 seconds of fame wheter it's a ride injury like a scraped knee or a little headache or a person trying to ban the books only to be overruled with a good rebudtle.

Yeah, this is so bull. I would so not trust it, and even if for some reason it turns out to be true, I wouldn't waste all the energy that I've put into the franchise on some stupid hacker out to spoil everyones fun. I'm not a fanatic about Harry Potter, so I don't really care, but I know so many people who do, and I know how many fans there are out there, and it would just be so mean and cruel to put this on the web and be such a party pooper. Ha, pooper.
