So you'd rather they re-cast? No thanks. Keep in mind that:

1. The Pevensies in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe are slightly older than in the book. Therefore, it makes sense for them to be slightly older in the film version of The Last Battle than they were in that book. Besides, their ages are never identified in either the books or the films. We only know their book ages thanks to other memoirs by C.S. Lewis, and we only know the movie ages thanks to the actor's birthdays. The Harry Potter films get away with this sort of thing just fine.

2. The Last Battle takes place (in our time) seven years after Wardrobe. At the rate the films are going (Prince Caspian and Dawn Treader's productions are overlapping), we could expect to see The Last Battle sometime around 2015 or so. That makes it 10 years after the release of Wardrobe. There's not much of a difference in appearance between someone who's aged seven years and someone who's aged 10. They'd only be playing three years their junior. Compare that to the cast of Grease, where most of the cast was between 25 and 30 playing 17 and 18 year olds.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the film, DisneyGirl! It's my favorite Disney live-action film and, in my opinion, better than The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the first two Harry Potters (then again, you love the Lord of the Rings films more than Harry Potter, so my thoughts won't quite translate to yours). Still, it's a pretty hard movie to dislike. The only real flaw I can think of with it is the special effects, which tend to be a mixed bag. At the same time, though, even when the CGI is cartoonish, it's still aesthetically pleasing to look at, like an illustration. Tell us what you think as soon as you see it.

aren't you forgeting that there is seven books and they're going in this order: Lion Witch and Wardrobe, Prince Caspion, Dawn Treader, Silver Chair, The Horse and His Boy, The Magicians Nephew, and finally the Last Battle and at this paise that last one won't come until 15-20 years after the originals release since they said that they won't start production unless the film was popular and that goes for sequels too.
and as for Harry Potter they still look the same age just like how Ashley Tisdale looks 16 but is 21 and how Blackcauldron85 looks to be a teenager when shes in her mid-20's so they're ok.
and as for professor Diggory i don't think the guy who portrayed him will even be around for the final film unless hes a lot younger than he looks.
okay i am looking at wikipedia for the Pensieve children and here are their ages:
Peter b.1927 age 13 ended at 20
Susan b.1928 age 12 ended at 19
Edmund b.1930 age 10-11 ended 17-18
Lucy b. 1932 age 8 ended 15

those are their book ages there while their movie ages are a year of two off but if my calculations are correct peter would be in his 30's while Lucy would be in her 20's. it would okay for these guys to play their older self in Horse and His Boy at those ages but not when their kids in Last Battle.

Actually, Disney (for the time being) has thrown out the "let's wait" rule and decided to plow through the series ASAP. Prince Caspian and Voyage of the Dawn Treader are only being released a year apart (Dawn Treader's in pre-production already and will begin filming in January during Prince Caspian's post-production). Work on The Silver Chair is already being planned to take place during Dawn Treader's post-production because Disney's looking at PC, VDT, and SC as a sort of Caspian trilogy within the main series. So if Disney's intentions go as planned, the schedule may look something like this...

2005: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
2008: Prince Caspian
2009: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
2010: The Silver Chair
2012: The Horse and His Boy
2013: The Magician's Nephew
2015: The Last Battle

Of course, this is all my speculating, but I'm certain Disney will take a breather after Silver Chair, do Horse and His Boy and Magician's Nephew overlapping, take another break, and invest themselves into The Last Battle. So if, indeed, the last film is released 2015, then the actors will be (remember, the movies upped the characters' ages about 2 years to fit the actors)...

Georgie Henley: 20 playing 17
Skandar Keynes: 23 playing 20
Anna Popplewell: 26 playing 21
William Moseley: 28 playing 22

Again, I say this isn't that much of a stretch considering most films about high school cast actors in their 20s, and most films about college cast actors in their 30s. All of my rambling is irrelevant, anyway, for one major reason:

The actors'/characters' ages won't be revealed, and more than likely there won't be any reference to how much time has passed between each film. Casting completely new actors for movie seven is just a silly idea because the audience has grown to love these kids in these roles. It's not like they'll be in their 50s by the time Last Battle is released.

I will agree with you on one thing, though: they're going to run into a problem with the character of Diggory unless they lower his age for The Last Battle. That's the only solution I can think of because the audience will be confused if a new, older actor is cast as Diggory for movie 7. It would click with them more (and from a movie perspective, bring things full circle) to just use the same kid from Magician's Nephew.

Well, I'm not quite sure how the releases will turn out, considering Disney might skip and/or rearrange some of the books according to which characters are in them. For instance:

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader ~ From what I remember, only Lucy and Edmund are in this one (of the original four). And Eustace joins them.
The Silver Chair ~ Eustace is the only character here, along with an aged Caspian. The rest are new.
The Horse and His Boy ~ I can't quite remember this book that well, but I do know that you only see Susan, Peter, Edmund and Lucy in their adult forms (like they were at the end of the first film before they went back through the Wardrobe). So the older actors won't have changed that much by the time they get around to this one.
The Magician's Nephew ~ The only character to appear from the other books was Jadis, the White Witch. So, I wonder if this'll get released at all. In actuality, it belongs at the beginning anyway.
The Last Battle ~ I don't quite know what the age of the characters is here, whether they're children when they return or adults (I'm betting on children). And that's for a small bit at the end. Oh, and Susan isn't with them (though I have a feeling Disney would alter this so viewers aren't confused).

Really, the only character that makes appearances in all of the books is Aslan.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"

Actually in The Last Battle they return at the age they were when. . .they return (not to spoil anything for anyone else). Only Polly and Diggory appear to a have a more youthful and joyful appearance, age wise. They're all happy in the end :)

Although Wikapedia gives the dates of birth for the children, it isn't specifically knows if you just read the books, in that case the actors can look a bit different, age wise. Besides they always have twenty year olds play high schoolers in movies, so it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

characters to return in each books:
Caspian: everyone of the kids a little bit after the first
Dawn Treader: Lucy and Edmund
Silver Chair: Eustace
Horse and his Boy: two or three of the pensive children as adults
Magicians Nephew: digory,as a kid, and Jadis
Last Battle: everyone but Susan comes back since shes not a friend of Narnia since she grew up. in this one they're just teens or almost adults while Diggory and Jill are old people and they've been friends since they were little kids when Narnia was born.

Kind of back to the original question... I enjoyed The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe, and I also enjoy the LotR movies, as well as the Harry Potter movies.

I have read the books of all three series several times, before the movies came out (well, as they are coming out, in the case of Harry Potter.)

I have also seen the BBC production of The Chronicles of Narnia, and enjoyed that, although it is probably a bit dated to modern audiences.

watched it and completely satisfied. It was amazing. I especially loved the fight scene, Im always amazed at how they do those and this one was magnificent. I like a movie that gets me nervous and excited and makes me cry...I cried at the happy parts, the sad parts, and thats for me the sign of a good movie. Im way excited now for them to get going and make the rest before they get too old or decide they arent interested anymore.

So glad I listened to everyone and picked this up! Thanks everyone!

I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I've only met one person who actively disliked it, and that was my brother-in-law. He found it boring and thought the battle scene was ordinary. Then again, he's the type of person who cares more for action than story, so I'm not surprised. Other than him, everyone else I know either likes the film or loves it.

and that's just the extended edition, which is a little poor on editing, i liked the thetrical release better, the battle sequence was the one i think they added the most to.
but i love either edition either way, i'm glad you gace it a chance
