I bought a few things from him in the past and they were all authentic so that might be worth a try!
FYI- there is no real need to buy this one on eBay. Aladdin has not yet gone into the Disney vault, so the Platinum Edition and the gift set are still available in stores. Even though you may not be able to purchase the gift set at online retailers such as Amazon I know I've still seen it at various retailers such as Best Buy and FYE. You just maybe have to look a little harder to find it.

Actually, the gift set has gone out-of-print. There is a chance that you can find it in stores, (usually only at stores like FYE and Sam Goody) but only because they've yet to run out of copies. You can still find copies of just about any OOP Disney DVD from time-to-time at certain retailers.

It's a shame that Disney no longer releases gift sets with the Platinum Edition line. They were great collectors items.

Oh ok, I figured since the Platinum Edition DVD was still in print, and I have still seen many Aladding gift sets still available in stores, that it was still in print. Either way, I would check your local retailers first before spending a bunch of money on eBay. I know that my local Best Buy still has a copy, and the last time I checked my FYE had 2 copies. Look around...
