After looking at that, I think Disney really did themselves a disservice by deciding to release this a day early on Thursday. If they don't beat the weekend record Spiderman 3 just posted, it's their own fault.

I'm from the UK, and all my friends are seeing it, and all the ones that have seen it, have LOVED it. There is a deffiniate buzz around my college campus right now for Pirates!

So I'm hoping it will break records over here, if not in the states.

Don't worry, the difference between Pirates and all those other films on the chart was that those films were showing all day long on Thursday, while Pirates was shown at the very end of the day with few showings. And besides, there are plently of records At World's End can still break.

And one other thing I'll mention(spoiler)...

For the last clip at the end of the credits, I personally would've preferred another funny animal clip as opposed to what we got.

don't really care much about the confusing story (wich I think is being blown up a bit) It's basically good vs evil. Pirates versus the East India Trading Company. There's some backstabbing and side-switching (wich wa sin my opinion the only real cause for confusion) and questions raised in Dead Man's Chest are answered. That's basically it.

And on top of that, it made me laugh out loud far more than the previous two films.

my guess is that that was their original ending before the credits. But they probaply wanted to end the film with Jack, so they cut it out and placed it behind the credits. My guess is they assumed most people would know there would be a scene after the credits considering the first two films had them.

Just got back from an afternoon showing. LOVED the movie. I wasn't disappointed at all, and the scene after the credits was a nice touch.

The only thing that confused me was the multiple Jack Sparrows on the ship of the Black Pearl and then again on The Flying Ducthman...and the mini Jack Sparrow on his shoulder..... Is that because the other Captain Jack's were illusions and the real Captain Jack Sparrow was going crazy but then whne he was on the Flying Dutchman Multiple Jacks showed up again but this time there was a waterey crestatious Jack Sparrow who was part of the ship....... That's was my ONLY complaint is they went a little too far with the multiple Jack Sparrows... Otherwise I Loved it the movie and will be seeing it again next weekend on payday June 1st!!

I saw it earlier today and can say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. It did get a bit confusing at points and it kind of felt like they were dragging it out, but it was still enjoyable. I was a little upset with the ending (for reasons I won't mention, but those who have seen it will know what I mean), but it wasn't a terrible ending. I still think that the Dead Man's Chest is the best in the series, though.

Just saw POTC: AWE today in the morning at 11 a.m. and I thought it was okay being the worst of the trilogy. The beginning of the movie was kind of silly and lame it got better at the middle and end of the film. The film had too much double...triple...quadruple crossing. Anyways I grade this movie as a C.

Can someone send me 2 used tickets of POTC: AWE for the Disney Movie Rewards points?

Spider-Man, Shrek the Thrid and POTC: AWE were all let down movies I thought they would be better.

I just got back from seeing the film, and here are my thoughts (I'll try my best to keep it spoiler-free, and any real spoilers will be in white):

- Geoffrey Rush is officially my hero! Barbossa whooped everyone in this movie!

- Tia Dalma's story and backstory was predictable (I figured she was Calypso/Davy Jones' love all along)

- Some of the deaths were pretty shocking! Such as: Norrington (he died very suddenly!), Governor Swann(I thought he might, but it was sadder than I thought it would be), Sao Feng (His part wasn't that big!), and the ETC guy (Davy Jones sticking his tenticles trough his head is just gross!)

- Johnny was great as usual!

- Bill Nighy was very good! I especially liked the scene with the human Davy Jones, as it actually looked good! It didn't look weird as I though it would have.

- My favorite scene was the "marriage" between Will and Elizabeth by Barbossa while they were all fighting, classic.

- I thought Keith Richard was actually good! And I also liked the other foreign pirates!

- The special effects were just as stunning as they were in the last one, and almost more so! (the whirl pool scene is a great example)

Ok, well I guess that was a lot more spoilers then I had planned on,

Spider-Man, Shrek the Thrid and POTC: DMC were all let down movies I thought they would be better.

I'll agree about Spider-Man and Shrek being let downs, but I think POTC (I think you meant AWE) was friggin awesome. I ended out the trilogy very nicely and I was blown away by it.

I wont spoil anything, but the first 15-20 minutes of the movie, I kept thinking "Can they DO that in a Disney movie?!"

My friends and I dressed up as pirates for the event, and I, as you may have guessed, once again donned my Captain Jack costume. It's not a very good one, but I was definitely turning some heads. I'll show you once my friend gets the pictures online.

Total Awesomeness.

Completely agree. Barbossa was great in this movie.

I"m supposed to go tomorrow night with our pirate reenactment group to see it at El Capitan - we reserved 80 tickets. We have to go stand in line for 3 hours, (I'm not sure exactly why- I think it's to get best shot at the seats) then the movie is 3 hours.... sounds like a long night.

I haven't been paying to much attention to the media reports - but I am sure all those negative reports will be washed out by the title wave of box office ticket sales to see this movie.

Has there been the same amount of advertising for this movie compared to DMC, do you think? Also an issue would be how many theaters the movie opened in. I think that would figure into the possible box office numbers. Do you think it hurts them to open on a holiday weekend when people traditionally go out of town (and not to the movies)?

I don't see why everyone's saying the plot is confusing for this film, besides the opening (which I believe was intentionally a bit confusing since you're thrown in later than at least I would have expected after the last film). This style kept me riveted from beginning to end, though Barbossa's entrance really kicked the film into high gear for me. The rest made enough sense so that the revelations clearing each bit up came when they should, and weren't necessarily telegraphed and predictable. On that note, while Tia Dalma's story was hinted at in the last film, there were some new bits filled in this time, nice to see.

It was sad to see some characters go, and others make a return, but overall I thought it was a fantastic way to tie up the storyline of the trilogy and set up more. I also thought the scene after the credits was handled well.

what do u mean really killed it? sorry i dont quite get that meaning. im not american. anyway i was going through my own dvd pirates marathon and some dialogues in DMC now make clearer sense especially those by tia dalma and how she kept emphasizing certain words.

then i recall the wonderful scenes in this 3rd movie and i can now say it was better than DMC. DMC is more laidback but had they trimmed the movie in a different way, AWE wont be as cluttered and some things couldve been resolved in DMC:re edit edition but that wouldve made it feel more episodic. so...im going again for the fourth time sunday, when will ye?

What i mean by "killed" is that Thursday's 8 p.m. opening killed Friday's total. If the film would have just started on Friday I'm sure that friday's numbers would have been a lot bigger than $43 million. But what sucks the most is that none of Thursdays $17 million will count towards this weekends total (May 25-27).
