News on Ashlee Simpson's new album
http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/155974 ... tney.jhtml
"Ever since he showed up for her last "Chicago" performance in London's West End, Ashlee Simpson has said she's dying to work with Robert Smith of the Cure. But he's not the only name on the list of collaborators for her third album — the singer has been hard at work writing songs with Timbaland, John Legend, Kenna and Chad Hugo of the Neptunes, a source close to the project told MTV News. If that list sounds unusual to you, it should — Ashlee is going for a more "soulful" sound on her new album, she told Cosmopolitan for the mag's June cover story, and has been listening to a lot of India.Arie, Tori Amos and Fiona Apple for inspiration. "This record is not like, 'I didn't steal your boyfriend' or anything like that," she told Cosmo. "But who knows what's going to happen in the next few months. I'll probably have my heart broken and then end up with one of those kinds of songs on there." Don't count on it, though. "I'm in a stronger place now," Simpson insisted. "I'm coming into my womanhood, and it's changing my music." ..."
Hmmm. Everyone is changing their sound. I've learned to like Mandy Moore's latest single. I don't change the station when Hilary Duff's newest song comes on, but I'm not planning on buying her album. I really like Avril's happier vibe. But, now Ashlee? I was looking forward to a new album from her, since I really like her first two. I can't judge the music until it comes out, but I'd rather upbeat rock-pop than soulful. I'll have to wait and see.

Please, please tell me you don't think that she has any talent whatever!! Don't you remember her sad performance at the Super Bowl when she got booed off the stage and flipped everyone off on national TV? This talentless, no-brain, person should not be given the time of day.

I've never been an Ashlee Simpson fan. Her voice comes off as a little too abrasive at times and I've never thought of her as talented. I was really shocked when I heard she was doing "Chicago."
The main reason I'm posting is because you mentioned Mandy Moore and I really like her new music. I've heard three full songs from the album and 30 second clips of the rest and I have to say they are very good. They remind me of Carly Simon for some reason. I know that she is one of Mandy's biggest musical influences. Also, the music video for "Extroardinary" is really funny. I personally think she should have put out "Nothing You Are" as the first single, but "Extroardinary" fits the message she is trying to send to everyone with her new music and I like it.

I like Ashlee Simpson's music. She may not be as vocally talented as her sister, Jessica, but I'm a fan of both. I like pop music...
As for Mandy, she's been my favorite singer for a while- I love her voice- but it took me a while to warm up to "Extraordinary". Now I like it. I don't really like "All Good Things" at all. Once I hear more of her newer music, I'll be able to see if there are more songs I like. As of right now, I'm thinking that I'll just download whatever songs I'll like...I was on Walmart's music downloads page to download Avril's new album last week, and I got to download "Extraordinary" for free...so I already have that song. I think it's good that Mandy's getting to do the kind of music she wants to and isn't as prohibited anymore.

IT'S GOING TO BE TERRIBLE LIKE THE LAST TWO.

I respect your opinion, but I disagree.

Have you heard her other two albums? She's not the greatest musical artist ever to live, but her music is enjoyable in its own right.

I'm a huge Ashlee fan and can't wait until her new album is released later on this year. I went to her concert last summer and it was incredible. Despite popular belief, the girl can sing her heart out. Her voice is much better now than it used to be. The reason she didn't sound so good when she first started was because she was trying too hard to be different from her sister. She didn't want to be known as Jessica Simpson's sister, she wanted to be known as Ashlee Simpson, which is why she tried to be such a rocker, and it didn't really work for her. Fortunately, she's found herself and has proven to the world that she has talent.
YAY FOR ASHLEE!
By the way, her concert was one of the best days of my life.

This never happened. Yes, she did get booed off of the stage, but no, she did not flip anybody off. I'm not sure where you heard that.flipped everyone off on national TV?

I didn't hear about it - I saw it physically in person. She is a low-life, no-talent witch.............(substitute a 'b' for the 'w'). No one deserves to be flipped off or to flip off anyone, no matter what the instance. There is no excuse for that. And SHE CAN'T SING A LICK without a lot of help in the studio. I know I can't sing, but with studio help I could sound like Michael Buble', and that is a fact.

Wait a tick, is it the Orange Bowl incident that you're talking about?
I've been to her concert, and from what I saw (and it was obviously live), she can sing very well. I am a proud Ashlee fan and will remain one until the end, no matter what anyone thinks of her. But, I still respect your opinion.

My bad, yes it was the Orange Bowl, not Super Bowl. And she was literally screaming, and got booed off the stage and as she was leaving she uttered several four letter expletives and flipped the crowd off as she left the stage. Very unprofessional, and not at all the role model she should be trying to be.

I don't mean to continue with the conversational posts, but I'm having a hard-time believing that she started cursing after her performance. It was live television so it would have been shown, and this was never talked about on the news or anything. Yes, the performance was bad, and yes, she was booed, and that all received plenty of news coverage. But I never heard anything about her flipping the bird, and being the Ashlee fan that I am, I'm sure I would have heard about that.
And I'm not saying that I don't believe you, I'm just wondering if maybe you're mistaken.

The incident at the Orange Bowl was all over the networks, and news channels for almost two weeks. You must have been in a cave or something. Some of the news channels, to this day, replay that segment, whenever some "Ashlee" news is breaking. And after her lip-syncing stint on SNL, I can never listen to another Ashlee song again without wondering if that is her, or is she just faking it.
Ashlee has the foulest mouth in the business. She makes Paris Hilton and Britney Spears look like Goddesses. Prince Ali, you need to get the stars out of your eyes and look at what is going on in the music business and see how disinterested any labels are in the exploits of one Ashlee Simpson.
