Post by Kenai »

Does anyone have any info on it? I know it's supposed to open April 2nd. But does anyone know what it'll be about or have any pictures?

Its not open yet. They are saying later in the week. I think that it'll be cool, its basically the same ride it'll just have the Three Caballeros in some of the videos. I always loved that ride, I don't know why, it just has a cool, relaxing vibe.

I'm excited since it seems to say that they've done NEW animation featuring José and Panchito! I wonder if WDFA did the animation for it? Most likely eh?

Wow! I had heard they were doing this, but I guess in the midst of all of the new attractions being built, I didn't realize it had already been done. How exciting! I'm hoping to be moving down in May to do the college program, so if all goes well, I will get to ride it then. :D

oh nice. I like the original like others said, very relaxing and calm. not annoying like Small World. Hopefully the new editions are as good.

Of course actually riding the ride yourself is the best way to judge, but from the video, it looks really cool. WAY better than the old ride because from what I remember the old version felt nothing more than a cheap garage sale of Mexican merchandise, but thanks to this, they've cleaned up the ride a lot so it resembles nothing of that.

Being a huge fan of The Thrice Caballeros, I loved all the new material starring them! :D Everything from the music to animation sounds/looks great! It's nice to see a rehab that doesn't involve a stupid clownfish or mermaid. I'm glad Disney hasn't seem to have forgotten their most underrated yet some of their best characters! Let's hope this means we'll finally get that DVD set of Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros soon!

Closing Thought: I wonder who voiced Jose and Panchito.

Cartoonbrew has a short piece on the attraction, with a video download of it. The animation was supposedly directed by Eric Goldberg.

I found it interesting that Disney were still comfortable about Donald, Jose and Panchito singing about being three gay caballeros.

Wow...that's something I haven't seen in A LONG TIME! (I refer, of course, to an actual line for the ride!)

Looks good, can't wait until I can ride it later this summer!

That was part of its charm! :P

Many a day off would be spent with friends vegging through Epcot and just sitting down for 15 minutes on rides like El Rio del Tiempo, Spaceship Earth (my favorite WDW ride), and even the schlock that has taken the place of Journey Into Imagination...

Apparently, today's societies has manipulated you into thinking that the "gay" you're thinking means "homosexual" and nothing else. The word "gay" (as displayed in their song) means "happy".

Ichabod made a note of it in this thread, likely because we were joking around about the word "gay" in early Disney pictures in an earlier thread (can't remember which). I think T-SoD also mentioned Fairy Godmother telling Cinderella to "dance, be gay!" when she goes to the ball, and someone also said that the singing harp sings that "everyone is gay" in Fun and Fancy Free. :P

(Plus, I'm sure one of these days, someone is bound to throw in a Brokeback reference to the Three Caballeros since IIRC, "caballero" is Spanish for cowboy...)

Let me correct you. Caballero means gentleman, not cowboy. Cowboy is "vaquero". Also caballero means a soldier who mounts a horse in the old times, so you are not completely out of the park here!!!

In one episode of The Honeymooners, while teaching him to dance the Hucklebuck, Norton tells Ralph to "get in the groove and be GAY!"

Yes, I'm perfectly aware when the song was originally penned the intention was to mean 'happy', but the connotation of the word has undoubtedly changed. And since the general understanding of the word in today's society means 'homosexual', It just strikes me as a brave decision for Disney to re-record the song and leave the word in tact, under normal circumstances I would have expected it the 'Disney' thing to do to have changed the line in order not to ruffle any feathers of parents who get off the ride mid way through, covering the ears of their innocent little darlin's at the mere thought of the 'G' word.
