Walt -- How general will this release be?

Following the flood of bad news in the delays of some of the most anticipated DVDs of 2004, the front page now has some good news, too. Walt: The Man Behind the Myth will become publicly available on March 2, after being a Disney outlet exclusive for I don't know how long. But this raises the question, how general will this "general retail" release be? Frank & Ollie had a "wide" release, too, and I still can't find it anywhere except Amazon and the Disney Movie Club.

I don't order online too often. So if this doesn't come to brick and mortar stores I may not be able to get it. So it IS an issue.

Disney, if you're listening - PLEASE bring Walt and Frank & Ollie to stores! I'm ready, willing and waiting to buy them.

I don't think its Disney fault it's not at any of your stores, it's the store's fault. They just don't think people will be interested, so don't order copies. This is why its generally harder to buy catalogue titles in shops (including Disney catalogue titles). The stores perfer to order more recent releases for the shelves, as they sell better.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Well, for me, the only way to get my imported DVDs is to order them online. So, no problems for me.
But I agree with you... It should be easier to find these DVDs in stores!

Jake just an idea but surely a shop will let you order a title in-store and pick it up later?
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

I was lucky enough to have bought "Tower of Terror" in the park, because I can't find that in stores either. Does anyone know of a store that genearally carries "Frank and Ollie?" I remember with the Disney Channel vhs tapes, no stores had them at first and I ordered them through amazon.com, only to find them at Wal-mart a month later. And now Toy's "R" Us sells them. Also, I own "Walt: The Man Behind the Myth" on VHS. Are the special features worth buying the DVD? The home video footage sounds interesting.

2009 - yeah, that may work, I hadn't thought of it. I'll try it for F&O when I get some more money. But if it's a special order I'll probably end up paying full retail $29.99 as opposed to maybe $20 if it's there and in the ad. Granted, I would pay retail for these but would prefer not to unless I really have to.

Yeah, I think 2099 is right. If Amazon are stocking them, then the release is about as general as a release gets...

Something else to add to my big order now. I guess I won't have to go to Disneyland after all :P

It is a shame about the delay with the rest, but at least we know they are still coming. Plus we get a 50th Anniversary Davy Crockett DVD! And Stitch II is theatrical so I have an excuse to do my Chris Sanders impression constantly...

It is a very well made documentary on the man, warts and all, as they say. It is really amazing, it shows him as a human being, the troubles that he went threw as he made his films. It features the animator strike, all aspects of his life. There are also some cool extras featuring home movies and other various bits of information. If you want to know more about Walt, it is certainly worth getting.

I have it on tape (it aired here on HBO even before it aired in the US) and I'm certainly getting the DVD. It is a fascinating and touching view on the life of our master. :)

1.66:1 Non-anamorphic WS, Dolby Digital Surround Sound (Cheapquels get 5.1 and DTS. Walt doesn't even get that! :x )

very interesting documentary very in-depth and fun to watch people talk about walt!
