Aurora and Philip cameo in "the Little Mermaid"?
I was watching the Little Mermaid today and I noticed, in the dinner scene, that there is a portrait in Eric's palace of who looks a lot like Princess Aurora and Prince Philip from Sleeping Beauty....

It's really hard to tell due to the angle of the picture. I see what you are talking about, but I can't tell if it's just from the power of suggestion or if I'm really seeing it. It does look to me like a man with brown hair standing behind a woman with long blonde hair much like Aurora's sitting in front of him. However, if it was Aurora, you would think that her dress would be either pink or blue, what she wore in the film, and not purple. Also, if this was something hidden, it probably would have been referenced on the commentary like Mickey, Donald and Goofy were. Commentaries like to point those hidden jems out (there are a ton in the Hunchback commentary). I don't see two woman. I see a man and a woman, probably a past prince and princess at Eric's castle. Or maybe even Eric's parents? They are presumably dead since they are never shown or mentioned. Anyways, very good observation, stitcharielbeast.

Huh, nice, never would have thought of it although I had taken a colser look at that portrait before.
By the way, this shot of the dining-room always takes my breath away... It reminds me of the painstaking art work done in Cinderella. The baseboard, the fire-place, the paintings on the wall and the whole view on the ocean is just stunning.

It could be anyone!Beastboyravenz wrote:I have a good eye. It's Aurora. I can see her tiara, I mean who else could it be?
Personally I think the figure on top is a woman and the figure on the bottom is a man with a crown, maybe. I say the bottom is a man because I feel like i can see a mustache and the jaw line is too strong for a woman. All in all, I don't think it's supposed to be anyone we are supposed to recognize otherwise it wouldn't be this argueable. So my vote goes towards, it's a normal painting on the wall.

Now that I take a second look, it does look a little more blue than purple. It could be my monitor or maybe the purple haze in the sky is casting a reflection on it giving a purple hue. Anyways, yes the dress could be blue.Really to me the dress on the Blonde girl is blue not purple...

I see not a tiara amongst the yellow mess. You could have 20/20 vision and you still shouldnt be able to make out a yellow tiara on yellow hair at that angle. And it could be any number of people. Chances are that this wasn't meant to be Aurora and Phillip since creators of the film have said nothing about it. If you watch the commentary, they point out everything else hidden, such as hidden Mickey's and Mickey, Donald, and Goofy at the concert in the begining. Since this portrait is hanging over the fireplace, I think it is probably supposed to be Prince Eric's parents.I can see her tiara, I mean who else could it be?

Don't concentrate on the face and look at the body for a minute. It's deffinatley a blue or purple dress with puffy sleeves. It looks like there is a shadow around the mouth, which is why I think you see a mustache. And the jaw line does look bold, but it's heavily shadowed both in the picture and from the lighting. Look at how much of a shodow is also being cast on the painting of a ship next to it.Personally I think the figure on top is a woman and the figure on the bottom is a man with a crown, maybe. Haha, that's what I think. I also agree that the figure on top is a woman. It looks like she has her hair pulled into a bun.singerguy04 wrote:It could be anyone!Beastboyravenz wrote:I have a good eye. It's Aurora. I can see her tiara, I mean who else could it be?
