Which do you like better Movie Version's Or Soundtrack Version's?
I am talking about when Disney takes a song from a Disney animated movie or live action and edit's the song. Sometimes they even make the song completely different with verse's and instruments.
There are MANY examples which we all can talk about in this thread.
Here is my first:
The resent one I came upon was Disney Sleeping Beauty's "Once Upon A Dream"
Mary Costa has a great sing voice IMO and it is every haunting, but they cut out some parts of her singing really nicely in the beginning on the soundtrack. They also cut out the dialog from the movie so all you have is the instruments when the prince meets up with her. It kinda leaves you a little blank like what is going on lol. I believe the instruments they didn't change just cut some singing and dialog out which was really important in the song.
I will upload each version soon to show you want I am talking about lol.
I think in those cases (the ones with Sleeping Beauty), the slight singing (I'm guessing you're talking about when she goes "la-dee-dee-dah-dah" or something like that) and the conversation in the middle aren't included as they most likely weren't recorded as part of the music score, rather as part of the dialogue tracks.
I agree with the guys, I hate dialogue on soundtrack songs. Although I love the Prologue from Beauty & the Beast, I was sooo happy when I discovered that the version in my 'Music behind the Magic' set was instrumental only! Such a great surprise since it didn't mention it on the box! The most beautiful score piece of them all
Let's Not forget Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid where on the Soundtrack Ariel Says "Maybe He's Right, Maybe there is something the Matter With Me. I Just Don't See How A World that Makes such wonderful things could be bad". But in the film it goes
Flounder:Ariel Are You OK
Ariel:If Only I Could Make Him Understand, I Just don't see things the way he does. I Don't see how a world that makes such wonderful things could be bad.
Disney is awesome, and was the biggest part of my childhood.
Damn, I never even noticed that about "Part of Your World!" Well, I knew both "versions".... but I never thought about it. There's also some lines cut and placed over different music on "Poor Unfortunate Soul."

yes, thank you for pointing that out! There are so many that I can think of but that slipped my mind lol. I cannot stand that version on the soundtrack! I just would rather have the piano and then were Ariel starts to sing. I actually made that MP3 from the DVD lol.

On the International Soundtrack versions of this song they have either what she said in the film or the piano that then leads into Ariel singing

For a film like "pete's dragon" the soundtrack is almost completely different then the songs in the film, I hate the soundtrack versions, they sound horrible compared to the film versions.
Track 16, Poor Jack, from The Nightmare Before Christmas is pretty much completely different from the film version.
Actually there are some parts of This is Halloween that are different (i.e.: added vocals) as well.
Oh and something I don't like about Robin Williams' narration as the peddler on the Aladdin is that it's missing the noise he makes when talking about the tupperwear when he says "Listen [noise] ah still good!" and I don't know why it's missing.
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

And also in One Jump Ahead the part where Aladdin says Abu! is missing to from the soundtrack. GGRRRR lol.
I guess because it's not the singing voice they wanted to cut it out? I don't get it though.

Yeah I'm guessing it's because Scott Weinger is just Aladdin's speaking voice and Brad Kane is the singing voice. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but maybe they re-record the songs for the soundtracks and obviously they wouldn't want to bring in someone else just to say "Abu!"

I just got an LP of Sword in the Stone today and none of the songs are the film versions. They are the film actors but different recordings. I’m curious if they ever did do a Sword in the Stone CD, which version of the songs would they use? Some of these have new verses not heard in the film.
Where can you buy the international version of Little Mermaid and what does the CD cover look like?
I always missed the opening cue on A Whole New World on the CD. The film has this soaring opening for the song. The CD is a mere simple piano.
Now, I'm tracking down LP's for the 1940's package features. Which versions of songs should I expect? It's my hope to burn these to CD one day so I can at last have a complete CD collection.

WOW, that stinks lol. I like the film version's better.
