You know i sent an e-mail to disneyinfo@disneyhelp.com about Hercules, Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Black Cauldron well I got a reply:
Dear Mr. MacKinnon:

This will acknowledge, with thanks, your recent e-mail inquiry regarding your suggestions for two-disc releases of several of our movies.

Although we appreciate your interest, I must explain that our company’s long-established policy does not allow us to accept for review or consideration any ideas, suggestions, or creative materials not specifically solicited by us or our subsidiaries. It is our intention to avoid misunderstandings when projects are created internally which might be similar to submissions made to us from outside the company. While I realize it may not have been your intent to submit materials which are creative in nature, the content of your email necessitates that we treat it as falling within our policy. Therefore, as required, we will not retain any copies of your e-mail.

In response to your questions about planned future releases, although I have been unable to locate any specific details at this time, I encourage you to visit our DVD/Video release site at http://disneyvideos.disney.go.com for news and information regarding our upcoming releases.

We hope that you will understand our policy. Please be assured of our thanks for your interest in writing to us.

Very truly yours,

Brandon C. Zimmerman
Paralegal

Well, the e-mail doesn't necessarily rule out a future 2-disc release, it's essentially stating that they cannot consider any unsolicited suggestions from us regular joes.

I never sent any of my "Ultimate Disney DVD" specs to them, cause I've known about this policy for awhile. It exists pretty much everywhere and isn't limited to DVD specs. For example, producers and Hollywood bigwigs won't look at an amateur's script unless it gets to them via an agent, and recording artists won't make a song based on a fan's lyrics, or a publishing company won't bother reading your manuscript unless you've got an agent backing it. It's a me-me-me world, and if there's proof that they had any knowledge of someone's suggestions (which is why they didn't keep your e-mail), they're liable to be sued by them for not getting a cut of the profits.

Still, if I ever do send an e-mail to them, I'll simply be as vague as possible saying, "will you look into the possibility of releasing a 2-disc set for (insert title) with the same amount of dedication and material as other spectacular sets like (insert titles)?" If I so much as say, "And getting such-and-such for an interview would be nice", they'll delete my e-mail and reply with the same cookie-cutter message you got.

Hell, I'm pretty sure they peek now and then at our Ultimate DVD thread, so let me just say to them now:

TAKE MY IDEAS, I WON'T SUE! I'LL BE ETERNALLY GRATEFUL AND BUY 10 COPIES TO SHOW MY SUPPORT!

Okay, I'm slightly confused.

They're re-releasing the Platinum Edition of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs?

Yes. It's happening in 2008. This has pretty much been confirmed. (At least, as close to a confirmation as you can get with a PE that is 2 years away). Anyway, if you're confused, here's the predicted schedule:

March 2007- Peter Pan
October 2007- Jungle Book
March 2008- Pinocchio
October 2008- Snow White

And after that is anyone's guess. At some point though, Disney has to release 101 Dalmatians and it has been put off like 2 times now. But besides those 4, there are 2 more DAC's that have yet to recieve the Platinum treatment: Sleeping Beauty and Fantasia. And again, no one knows when Disney will release those PE's either. Not to mention, Disney is going to start rereleasing the DAC's that already have a PE onto the new BluRay / HDDVD format. So, they will be probably alternating between a totally new PE, and essentially rereleases between 2008-(whenever they run out of titles that have yet to be released as Platinums of the 14)

I'm really pushing for this in 2007:

Peter Pan: PE
Jungle Book: PE
Aristocats: Litter of Fun Edition (lol, i really hope it's not called this)
Lilo & Stitch: Ohana Edition
Rescuers: 30th Anniversary
Meet the Robinsons

Minor releases:
Cinderella III
Return to Neverland
Jungle Book 2

I bet a Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: 30th Anniversary Edition will be thrown in there too, although i feel the world could wait for that...

Nice list, those would make great releases for next year, especially the long overdue 2-disc Lilo and Stitch. Myself, I would add a 10th Anniversary Edition of either The Hunchback of Notre Dame (a year late like Lady and the Tramp's 50th Anniversary/Platinum Edition) or Hercules. Oh, and Litter of Fun edition?? LOL

I wouldn't call the Platinum Edition of The Jungle Book "minor."
And the NBC interview with Don Hahn has confirmed that there will be no Hunchback DVD release next year...but I could get on board with The Aristocats and The Rescuers re-releases.
:pan: Love It.

I couldn't really see anything new on there but you could maybe get the R2 2-Disc SE

I highly doubt they'd release a 30th A.E and a 35th A.E...although it would be cool. :D
