The Power of the Dark Crystal (Jim Henson)

Post by Fflewduur »

The Jim Henson Company has chosen Genndy Tartakovsky (Samurai Jack, Star Wars: The Clone Wars) to direct the sequel to The Dark Crystal!

Cool, Tartakovsky is an interesting (in a good way) choice. If only I could figure out how to say his name, is it like "Indy Tar-ti-kov-ski"?

The Power of The Dark Crystal.

The Jim Henson company is about to do a sequel to their 1982 masterpiece, it's set years after the first movie as a fire-girl from underground has stolen the shard of the crystal in hopes of healing a dying sun.

This is my third most anticipated movie of 2008 and comes out May of that year. I was thinking maybe when "Harry Potter 5" comes out perhaps there should be a teaser attached to it.

I received The Dark Crystal as a Christmas gift when I was about 14 or so. I still haven't watched it yet.

Yay!!! I love the Dark Crystal, so I'm really excited about the new movies planned by the Jim Henson Company: Dark Crystal 2 and the Fraggle Rock Movie.
I might be a bit more excited about the FG movie, but the DK2 will be more fun for everyone I guess.

The story concept of the sequel sounds much like the orignal one.

The Black Crystal, The Dark Cauldron..

Post by Kraken Guard »

Oh, why am i not surprised? I scurry over onto the IMBD to look at some stuff involving the Dark Crystal and in the Recommendations List was The Black Cauldron.. I always did get the name of those two movies mixed up. Plus i guess the Horned King does look like one of those Skeksis in a strange unusual sort of way..

Anyways, I read that they were planning a Sequel in 2011 as well! I was tempted to make a topic based on the movies.. Luckily, i searched first and look at what i found! :P

Pretty cool that their going to use the puppet stuff! But i hope they dont over-do CGI Effects..

I feel very "meh" about The Dark Crystal. I MUCH prefer Labyrinth to it.

I dunno, I guess I just find Dark Crystal incredibly boring. Or at least I did the last time I watched it. Maybe I should watch it again sometime soon.

Although I gotta say the puppetry is AMAZING in that movie.
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

If only they would speed things up, I mean this has been in development hell since...forever.

I do recall them planning a sequel to Labyrinth as well,
Bowie, freshen up your act and then maybe we'll see the Goblin King
return :o
