I did some more searching for the voices and came across some videos from Disney Princess Classics On Ice. Unfortunatly, I missed the show when it came to the UK, but it looks spectacular! AAAAAANNND this is what I thought; all of the songs have been re-recorded, and most of the dialogue, apart from a few titbits that remained the same.

So, I was thinking that these will probably be the people that they use as the voices for new Disney Princess DVDs etc! I never thought of it before!

The re-recorded bits were:

Snow White ~ All songs, dialogue

Cinderella ~ All songs, dialogue

Sleeping Beauty ~ All songs, dialogue

The Little Mermaid ~ All songs (Sebastian's voice artist has changed, so Under The Sea and Kiss The Girl were re-recorded, and Part of Your World has been redone with Jodi doing the singing again, but with changes to the lyrics at the end. I think its the same version that was featured in the alternate ending on the Sp Ed DVD), and some dialogue.

Aladdin ~ All songs, dialogue

Mulan ~ Not too sure on this one

The one I was most worried about was Aurora, but her voice is lovely, just like Mary Costa, and Prince Philip's is charming! I was very suprised at how good he sounded!

Here are some clips:

Sleeping Beauty~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmVPOnZdjcQ&NR

The Little Mermaid~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkoatoWWWew&NR

They were the best! I can't find whole clips of some of them, but they are wicked all the same.

atlanticaunderthesea wrote:Right, I've had some time to look up all of the names you have listed. So, I've got the info on who they MIGHT be singing the part for on the CD.

Jeff Bennet ~ Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast

Jodi Benson ~ Ariel (deffo) from The Little Mermaid

Corey Burton ~ Gus from Cinderella, Grumpy from Snow White

Tami Tappan Damiano ~ Singing voice of Cinderella

Melissa Disney ~ Singing voice of Snow White

Susan Egan ~ Megera from Hercules

I've got to get to class now, but I'll carry on with this later. Anyone else can look them up as well! Soon, hopefully, we wil have a full and deffinitive list!!! :)
Yep! Those singers who played the Princess is on the Christmas CD. Snow White was played by Melissa Disney, not Russi Taylor. Russi does Minnie Mouse like Melissa does with Snow White.

Princess Aurora's Voice on the Disney Princess Christmas CD

Post by sabertoothcat23 »

Hey all. As a music theatre major and aficionado of my favorite music theatre actress, I stumbled upon this bio online.
Kim Huber (Maria) was last seen at The 5th Avenue in 1776 (Martha), and prior to that in the National Tour of Disney's Beauty and the Beast (Belle). Kim also starred as Belle on Broadway, performing the role more than 1,000 times! Other Broadway: Sunset Blvd and Marie Christine, both original Broadway casts. Her portrayal of Nellie in the Floyd Collins national tour earned her both Jefferson and Barrymore nominations. Now a resident of L.A., she has starred in the West Coast regional premieres of The Last Five Years, The Spitfire Grill, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and Stephen Sondheim's Saturday Night. Favorite regional include: Chess (Florence), Phantom (Christine), Into the Woods (Cinderella) and Good News! (Connie and cast album). Kim can be heard as the singing voice of Sleeping Beauty this holiday season on the Disney Princess Christmas Album.
So, in case you were wondering, multitalented Broadway chanteuse Kim Huber voices the role of Princess Aurora (aka Sleeping Beauty) on the Disney Princess Christmas Album. =)

Woo Hooo!! Thank you thank you thank you sabertoothcat23 !! !! More pieces of the Disney Princess voices mystery are coming together! See, as we are all doing little bits and bobs, we are becoming able to fit voices to the beloved characters. Here is the new list:

Snow White ~ Melissa Disney

Cinderella ~ Jennifer Hale (speaking) / Tami Tappan (singing)

Aurora ~ Jennifer Hale (speaking) / Kim Huber

Ariel ~ Jodi Benson

Belle ~ Paige O'Hara (but Susan Eagan singing as Belle on the Christmas CD)

Jasmine ~ Linda Larkin (speaking) / Lea Salonga (singing)

Its really only the early Princesses that are the most awkward; but with this new info, the list is really becoming completed!!! !! :D

Big news! (kinda....)

I got this news from Susan Egan's official Myspace blog:

I'm off now to Disney to record some new Belle tunes for the latest Disney Princess CD - Birthday themed. Always fun. =) Wonder why they never let Meg make an appearance on these disks? Too much 'tood, I suppose. =) Hee. hee. Okay ... Belle it is. =)

So it would seem she has replaced Paige O'hara as Belle?

I like her Meg statement though! Thats what a lot of us here were wondering as well; why is Meg never used?!

Disney Princess Voices

Post by Disney Duster »

Wow that's so wierd, because Susan Eagan is the original voice of Megara, rght? By "'tood" I guess she means attitude. Well, she's also not really a princess, and I personally think it should only be kept to the real princesses. Pocahontas is okay because she's kind of an Indian/Native American princess, but Mulan is unacceptable. Disney just needs to do a Chinese fairy tale. Maybe they could do Emperor's Nightingale with a strong female protagonist who is a princess. Although Hans Christian Anderson actually wrote it, and it's a Danish fairy tale, it's still set in China.

What an interesting thread! These are the people who are acting as our beoved clasic princesses, even the older ones!

So, Ariel is the only princess who always had the same singing/speaking voice, right?

bruno_wbt, gosh! I never thought of that before! It would seem that, yes, Ariel is the only Princess that has had the original voice artist do all voiceover work! Interesting.....

And I agree Disney Duster, I'm finding this an interesting thread as well!

In my opinion, I think the Disney Princess is more than just royalty, a Disney Princess is a young heroine who doesn't give up on their dreams or beliefs and always does what's right. They don't have to be royalty to be a princess, which is precisely what most of their products try to say to young girls who look up to them (listen to "Every Girl Can be a Princess"). Look at Miss America. If Disney animated her, they'd probably let her join the league of Disney Princesses. Also by defining a princess in this way, they're able to include the stories from other cultures that don't necessarily have princess figures in theiry culture. But I do get what you mean since its very confusing of who is what. I was at the bookstore yesterday and found a collection of Disney princess stories and featured on the cove among the usual Disney royalty was Esmerelda.

The Emperor and the Nightingale would be an awesome Disney movie! Then maybe there can be more Disney Panda characters! :)

Lol, yeah this thread is awesome! ;)

Kram Nebuer, I really agree with what you just said. You don't have to be royal; its having all of the qualites that makes someone good is what equals a Princess.

Ive just thought of something...........

In Disney Princess Enchanted Tales, Belle has been swapped with Jasmine, right at the last minute.

Paige O'Hara did the voiceover work; but as Susan Egan sais she was doing new Belle songs, do you think they pulled it so Susan could re record the dialogue as well? Maybe Paige's voice didnt test well??

Just a thought!

It has been 16 years, so maybe they thought she sounded too old? In "If You Can Dream" she sounds too old for Belle in my opinion. She still sings really well, but Belle sounds like she aged too much. The speaking voice is fine, but singing isn't as high as it was.

I think if Susan Egan rercorded the songs in Enchanted Tales, it would be too different to have the speaking so different, so maybe that's what happened. But even so, why would rerecording make them switch princesses and stories after all that marketing (okay one trailer) for a Belle story. I guess switching voices takes a long time to do?

I hate to admit it, but I am beginning to think that Paige O'Hara's voice is sounding too different to carry on the role of Belle's singing voice. If you listen to Disney Princess: A Christmas Of Enchantment, her voice almost grates on you! And that is so sad. But her speaking voice is fine, and still sounds like Belle.

But, Susan Rgan played Belle on Broadway, and mimiked her voice to sound like Paige, and it really worked. Susan, as I've already said, provided Belle's voice on the Princess Christmas CD:

http://www.disneypromises.com/index2.htm

Which she sounds wonderful on! So, it does seem logical that if Paige had to be replaced, Susan would be the one to do it.

It does take a long time to record dialogue, and then they animate it. But, if what I think is true, Susan would have to match her voice to animation, and replace Paige's voice in the songs. So I'm guessing that it will take a while. Hence, the Jasmine replacedment.

But, my theory could be compleatly wrong! And it could be some technical reason or something that is making Belle's story be delyed. But my idea sems pretty plausible.....

Anyone knows the reason why in the Aladdin's sequels, Jasmine's singing voice was played by Liz Callaway instead of Lea Salonga?

Who do you think that will play the singing voice of Jasmine in the Enchanted Tales collection?

Lea Salonga was doing other things at the time; shows and such, and didnt feel the need to come back for the sequals. But she has since done all Jasimine singing work, on all Disney Princess CDs. So I presume it wil be her on Enchanted Tales.

With all the Cinderella hype flying around, I wondered if I could ask a qu about her singing -- --

Did cindy have a song she sang herself in Cinderella II? And if so, was it good/bad/ugly? As I can't remember!
