News on Pixar & Tim Burton, Ratatouille, and Toy Story 3

Post by MadonnasManOne »

While looking around the net, today, I came across some interesting information, in a post over at the MiceChat.com forums. It seems one of their forum members was able to go on a tour of Pixar, thanks to the Emeryville Education Fund. In this post, Oogie talks about some upcoming projects for Pixar. Very interesting stuff! There are pictures posted, as well. It's well worth reading the whole post, so make sure to do that.

I'll post the link, and follow with the most interesting excerpts!

http://www.micechat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40678

While admiring one of the models, I was approached by 2 Pixar employees who had noticed my Nightmare Before Christmas jacket that I was wearing. As it turns out, one of them worked on Nightmare creating several of the models for it. The other one, it turns out, has a relative that’s one of the event coordinators at the El Capitan Theater (I’m sorry that I can’t use names, but they both asked not to be identified. Especially when they mentioned that something might be in the works soon with Pixar and Tim Burton). Both these individuals did several of the models for Cars and are both involved in Ratatouille, and were full of information. I wish I could tell you all the stuff they told me, but that would spoil all the great surprises that are coming.

During this time I was able to find some Pixar employees and ask them if they could say anything about Ratatouille and any rumors about Toy Story 3. Luckily the person I asked was an animator on Ratatouille, they said that everyone there who has seen it is saying that Ratatouille is the best thing that Pixar has done. Looks like we’re in for a treat next year. When I asked about Toy Story 3, they just grinned and said ‘At the end of Toy Story 2, Buzz and Woody are talking about Andy growing up and what’s going to happen when he outgrows playing with them. Doesn’t that just scream for another movie to be made?’. Because we were late getting out of the animation class, we had 15 minutes to eat and get into the main theater to see the screenings of the collection of Pixar’s shorts.

After a speech by the president of the EmeryEd Fund, and by Randy Nelson of Pixar, the lights in the theater dimmed to reveal the stars of the northern hemisphere done in LED lights on the ceiling (they even had shooting stars racing across the sky), and then we were treated to a screening of all of Pixar’s shorts. Luxo Jr (1986), Red’s Dream (1987), Tin Toy (1988, and the precursor to Toy Story), Knick Knack (1989), For The Birds (2000), Mike’s New Car (2002), Boundin’ (2003), Jack-Jack Attack (2005), One Man Band (2005), and 2 new shorts that will be released soon. Mater and the Ghostlight (to be released with the Cars DVD), and Lifted (to be released with Ratatouille) Again, I’m not going to ruin the fun and the surprise by telling you about these 2 shorts, but just about everyone in the theater was falling out of their chairs laughing at them.

Sounds very interesting. A Pixar/Tim Burton project could be very cool. Also, from the sounds of it, Toy Story 3 is going to focus on the toys, after Andy has grown-up. Hopefully, it will be as touching as the subject has the potential to be!

Yay! A Tim Burton/Pixar project just has to rock, it's like the meeting of the two animation gods (I mean, after it was Disney/Pixar of course).

And It's good to hear Ratatouille is supposedly really good.

And as for Toy Story 3, I have no doubt that Pixar would make it as touching as the subject has the potential to be, MadonnasManOne, it's pixar!

*fanboy in me starts screaming*!!!
So not only is Pixar owned by my favourite animation company, it also might be getting involved with Tim Burton? I might just faint....

Tim Burton's striking visual style done by Pixar = Very interested Joe.
Toy Story 3 = Joe hoping yet rather confident that this will be a worthy follow-up.
Ratatouille = Joe pleased by good word of mouth so far.

A Tim Burton and Pixar movie would be so interesting. I just hope Tim has the patience again for animation, because he used to work for Disney and quit because it was so tedious. But then again, the process of 3d animation could be a lot different than 2d so maybe he can stand 3d.

I'm not surprised people are saying Ratatouille is the best thing they've done. I love that friggin rat even though I've only seen him in one very short teaser trailer.

I can't wait till Toy Story 3! They should have Andy grow up and give his toys to his son as the ending.

I am really excited about Ratatouille coming to theaters. I watched the trailer online the other day and I think it looks like it will be good. And if people are already saying its the best thing Pixar has done than it shouldn't end up being a disappointment. Yay!!

As for Toy Story 3, I hope we do see another one someday. There is certainly room to make a GOOD sequel story. Plus, everyone loves the Toy Story toys... :D

I think that had more to do with the fact of the intense atmosphere at the Disney Studios during the period he was there (aka the days of The Black Cauldron).

Wow, I'm really looking forward to this new Tim Burton/Pixar project. But would it be considered Disney? And would it be in animation, like Finding Nemo, etc., or clay-mation, like TNBC, and The Corpse Bride, etc.?

I can't wait for Toy Story 3!!! :D The other day I went to my friends house and saw his little brother in the kid's room, I walked in and he owned about 15 Woody Dolls, 7 Buzz Lightyear's, A Jessie Doll...anything Toy Story he owned it (btw, he's 7 years old) and he was watching Toy Story 2, he owned the Videos, and both releases of the DVD's. Anyway, when I saw he was so obsessed with both films, I told him about Toy Story 3........It was like telling a little kid Christmas had come early, he ran around his house screaming and laughing, It was so funny.
Ratatouille looks pretty good as well, I'd like to see more info on it though, all I know is its about a rat who eats cheese. :?

Thanks for this info MM1! Greatly Appreciated. :)

Thank you so much for posting this information! It literally gave me goosebumps thinking about the great projects that are coming up. I really hope that Burton/Pixar project happens - that would be incredible. And I really believe that if done right, a Toy Story 3 would be a great, heartwarming conclusion of that series. I can't wait to hear more info about these projects.

Yes, I agree, I am so exciteed for the upcoming releases. The thought of there being a Toy Story 3 is very exciting news. :D Plus, I am really excited about seeing Ratatouille. I watched the trailer/teaser again last night and it looks like it is going to be really good. I'm not sure how I feel about Meet the Robinsons yet, but we'll see. I wish Disney would stick to the traditional animation for their movies and save the CG stuff for the Disney/Pixar films.

Well, to be fair...I think Meet The Robinsons was in the works before they finalized their decision to purchase Pixar. But, I wish they would bring back their traditional animation too....along with the musical side of it.

Agreed! I miss the characters singing the songs that are instrumental to the scene rather than the music or song being heard in the background of the scene.

sounds like me (at the same age too I think) the first time I heard there was going to be a toy story 2.
I too owned pretty much every toy story toy I could get my hands on. (buzz woody, some action figures, school supplies, you name it). I had heard rumors about toy story 2 for a while, but I kept my hopes low in case it wasnt true. but I saw some pics, or an ad on tv and I just flipped. literally, since I was on a bed at the time.

anyway, I was hoping news on toy story 3 would be more than what was posted here. I mean come on, how is a question considered news? he merely acknowledged its existence and smiled, that was it. I want to hear more about the story or possible new characters. maybe a new target time frame for release. Something.
