Please help me find "The Blob" song!!.......

Post by disneyfella »

I have been looking for the opening title song to the original 1950s classic "The Blob". I think Henry Mancini wrote the title song (though he didn't write the rest of the film music). The lyrics go something like, "Beware of the Blob, it sneaks, and creaks, it slides, and glides". I know this sounds crazy, but the song is totally catchy and I know I can't be the only one out there who wants it. Any help? I'm not having luck finding any soundtrack, but maybe someone online has a rip of it somewhere. Thanks for the help.

I do have the song, but I'm afraid it's only on cassette tape from a line of "Wacky Favorites". Maybe you could check for a similar CD series online. It's a great song for Halloween time.

^ Wait, scratch that. I'm thinking of a different song that's on the Wacky Favorites collection. I *do* have it on a Halloween album, and it IS on CD. It's cheap too:

I can recommend this whole CD... great fun (though kind of corny) songs for Halloween.

Are you sure this is from the actual film? Well, here is the CD I have it on (actually, I still only have it on cassette, but this link is for a CD). It's an Elvira collection: http://www.amazon.com/Elvira-Presents-H ... 53?ie=UTF8

This says it's performed by "The Five Blobs," but it's the one with the lyrics you mentioned.

The version by The Five Blobs is the original and only version of that song that ever got played on the radio. When I was a disc jockey back in the late 50's and early 60's that was considered a classic from the day it was released.

It was on ERA Records, and is available on several compilations nowadays. Check your local Target or Wal-Mart during the Halloween season and you should be able to find it pretty easily.

Wal Mart never seems to do as much for Halloween as they used to. Candy, lots of that, and that's it.

We have NINE (count 'em, nine) Wal-Marts here in Wichita, and all the ones that I have visited have quite a display of music and video in their electronics section. Their candy department is overloaded as usual, but I wait until the day after and grab all the stuff I want at 50% off. We don't get many trick or treaters in our neighborhood.

Thank you guys so much. I have been aimlessly searching for this song and have a good heading on where to look, now. I'm off to Wal-Mart today and if no luck there then I will probably just pick it up on the net. It will be so much easier now that I know it is sung by The Five Blobs. Ooooooh, I wish I could give you all a big hug right now. This will be wonderful!!!! :D

After a long and arduous search (before I asked online I was searching for a few months), I have finally got The Blob song on CD. I found it at a Barnes and Noble on a Halloween compilation CD called "Hallween Hits". Thank you all so much for your help.

:D I feel like I just got a level up and can now go on a bigger adventure/questy thingy. :D
