Personally, I would really like it if Disney released these titles with the special edition originals. I realize we haven't heard anything about LM2, and it's dangerously close to October 3rd, but I'm speculating that maybe we could get one sometime next year.
Opinions?

Nothing yet, but Disney's fourth quarter is packed enough; I expect there will be a trailer for TLM2 on the original's DVD, which will announce the date as sometime early next year (January-February.)

I think it might happen. LatTII's rerelease was announced after LatT: PE was already released.

I only rented Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea and I probably would pick the movie up - if only for my niece who loves Princesses. And Ariel is one of her favorites.
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

I'm surprised that Pocahontas 2 didn't come out again after the first one was released in a 2-disc set.
Frankly, I'd rather this stuff didn't get rereleased anytime soon. I have those 3, and I really don't want them to give me a reason to double dip. I don't mind if they release them without giving me a need for repurchasing, like with Lady and the Tramp 2: Scamp's Adventure (there weren't any improvements on that rerelease, right?), but I'd prefer they rerelease stuff (good or bad) that I haven't bought already. Since MOST of that stuff is still available though, I won't expect them to. Stuff I haven't gotten around to buying on DVD yet: Home on the Range, Pooh's Heffalump Movie, Belle's Enchanted Tales (is that what it was called?), Atlantis 2: Milo's Return, Lilo and Stitch 2, Leroy and Stitch, Kronk's New Groove, Mulan 2, Valiant, The Wild, Nightmare Before Christmas, Pooh's Grand Adventure (yes, I know some of these JUST came out), Gargoyles Season 2, Kim Possible: A Stitch In Time, Pooh: Seasons of Giving, Springtime with Roo, Frankenpooh, and the Valentine one. I wonder if I forgot any. Wouldn't mind the Recess or Doug movies either, which I've never seen. I'll pass on Teacher's Pet. Also need the holiday collection with The Small One on it, unless it eventually comes out on a Disney Treasures set. Same with the Chip N Dale shorts. I'm passing on most TV show episode compilations in the hopes that they'll get volume sets, though I do have a couple (Kim Possible: Secret Files and Tarzan and Jane, off the top of my head).
I also missed the rerelease of Peter Pan, though I have the first, bare bones release. So, I'm really looking forward to the upcoming release (assuming it will be 2-disc or even Platinum). They also still have some unreleased stuff, like DuckTales the movie or uncut versions of Melody Time and Make Mine Music, among others. And don't get me started on the live-action stuff...

I only have Pocahontas 2 on a video tape. I haven't bought a dvd since I am sure someday they might rerelease it as a dvd remastered and blah blah blah........ Plus, it'd look nice next to my 10th Anniversary Pocahontas DVD.

Pocahontas II is still in print, and it's a part of the gold collection, so it's release was good enough.slave2moonlight wrote:I'm surprised that Pocahontas 2 didn't come out again after the first one was released in a 2-disc set.
these other titles are out of print and so far after each special edition whose sequels were out of print they've re-released them. besides they can use the publicity of the original's release as publicity for the sequels, so i think it's a very good guess that TLM2, PP2, and 101D2 will follow their originals if only by a few months.

Sequel Speculation
It may come out later this year like Lady and the Tramp II, but if we don't hear anything soon after The Little Mermaid comes out, I speculate that The Little Mermaid II will be re-released along side The Little Mermaid III when that comes out.
Cinderella II wasn't released when Cinderella came out, but it might be re-released with Cinderella III. So The Little Mermaid II would be following that pattern.

Oh, I didn't know Pocahontas 2 was still in print. That's pretty amazing, actually.singerguy04 wrote:Pocahontas II is still in print, and it's a part of the gold collection, so it's release was good enough.slave2moonlight wrote:I'm surprised that Pocahontas 2 didn't come out again after the first one was released in a 2-disc set.

I've seen it in some random places like suncoast, but I got my copy from the Disney Movie Club and they even sent me a copy with the shiny gold collection label.
I agree with the theory for TLMII, it might be released around the time of TLMIII, much like what may happen for Cinderella II and III. If i had it my way though, i'd release II closer to the original. but that may be just me...

since TLM3 will be a completely new release i doubt they will really do that. i think it'd be a interesting idea, but disney doesn't really pair a new release with an older one. to be honest i think they were afraid that the aladdin sequels wouldn't sell well individually. i think disney now knows anything with the Disney name on it will sell pretty well.
