Disneyland Paris 15th Anniversary Celebration

Post by Wonderlicious »

I just found out recently that Disneyland Paris (yes, I know it's really Disneyland Resort Paris, but I've almost always known it as DLP ) is having a 15th anniversary celebration on a grand scale. I found an information page, and here's what's being added:
Cars: Race Rally (Walt Disney Studios Park)
You’ve seen the movie, now take it for a spin!
Hit the road with Lightning McQueen and friends on the new piston-pumping ride opening June 2007. Welcome to Radiator Springs, a sleepy, one-horse-power town that’s about to be woken up. So fuel-up for fun and get in gear to join this engine-roaring rally on the dusty desert
track of Route 66.

Buckle-up and once you’ve discovered the hotshot-racing driver in you, it’ll be time to take pole-position and put everything you’ve learnt into practice. There’s vrrrrrrooom for everyone.

Crush’s Coaster (Walt Disney Studios Park)
Get ready to plunge into and underwater world of adventure, fun and hidden “dangers”… oh yes, and a few thousand fish. Here, you’ll “sea” life a little differently as you twist and turn over colourful coral reefs. But don’t close your eyes… or you’ll miss the fun as you dive straight down into the inky darkness of the deep to explore a sunken submarine.

Prepare yourself for the rush: spinning and twisting with along the powerful Eastern Australian Current, where even the coolest dudes have to screeeeeeeeam!

Toon Studios (New land in Walt Disney Studios Park)
Ever wondered where the characters stay while shooting in the Walt Disney Studios? Now’s your chance to mingle with the toontastic stars as their own studio doors swing open to allow you access all areas... to experience the fun and laughter of making those animated flicks.

Set in a wacky tropical oasis, Mickey and the Pixar gang welcome you to their world where you can hang out with Nemo and his fishy friends, Lightning McQueen and the highly-revved rivals from Cars... not forgetting the Incredible family and many other superstars of the movie world.

Tower Of Terror (Walt Disney Studios Park)
Hollywood, 1939. Amid the glitz and glamour of a bustling, young movie town at the height of its golden age, The Hollywood Tower Hotel was a star in its own right; a beacon for the show business elite. Now, something is about to happen that will change all that.

You' are passengers on a most uncommon elevator about to ascend into your very own episode of The Twilight Zone. One stormy night long ago, guests stepped through this elevator door and into a nightmare. That door is opening once again, and this time it's opening for you.

Disney’s Once Upon A Dream Parade (Disneyland)
As the birthday fanfare sounds, it’s time for your most colourful dreams to pass in a vision of magical floats. Use your imagination and you could see Mickey and Minnie afloat a fluffy cloud with the rest of their closest pals.

The rest is up to you. What will you wish for? Do you dream of fun, laughter and friendship with your toy friends, epic jungle adventures or a flight across a dreamy London skyline perhaps? One thing’s for certain, you’re in for a huge royal finale if you keep on believing. The dream that you wish will come true!

New Walt Disney Studios Park Parade (Walt Disney Studios Park)
A new parade for this park is expected to see out the 15th anniversary celebrations. More soon...

Extra Entertainment In The Parks (Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park)
Throughout the year, changes to the existing entertainment are expected. More soon...

And after exploring the forum on that site, I found some information on the new parade floats:
Running from April (Disneyland Park’s 15th birthday month), this parade will feature over 100 performers (around 50 of them being an assortment of characters) to create a brand new spectacle. 8 unique float units will form the basis of the parade, with more characters than ever – by public demand!

The floats will stop 4 times along the parade route, each time letting the characters interact with children from the crowds. Sparkling confetti will be emitted as the finale to each show mode and there have even been rumours of intricate fibre optic flashes too.

Float 1: “Dream of Imagination”
Mickey and Minnie, on board a sun-shaped hot air balloon, gracefully introduce the parade with Pluto, Chip and Dale partying in front of them. On their magical travels, the gang seem to have found themselves attached on a smiling silver moon, sprinkling with stars. Donald is forever trying to with upon one, but Goofy’s got his sight set on fishing for… bubbles!

Float 2: "Dream of Fun and Laughter"
In her larger than life form, see Alice out of her wonderland and trapped in White Rabbit’s doll house. The huge audio-animatronic Alice depicts the scene beautifully and full of movement, but Pinocchio finds the dancing deck of cards rather funny! In his brightly-coloured setting, he’s about to put the bounce into your parade!

Float 3: "Dream of Friendship"
A huge storybook tells Disney’s favourite tales of true friendship. On one side, Winnie The Pooh is fresh from a visit in Hundred Acre Wood, whereas Woody from the Toy Story movies has his own army of Toy pals!

Float 4: "Dream of Flight?"
Flying its way through the proceedings is a glittering ship from Peter Pan, destined to Neverland. Aboard are Peter and Wendy, but an uninvited crocodile friend is lurking just below! Trailing off into the distance, the Big Ben London skyline sets the scene for our next adventure. Riding a carousel horse above a fluffy cloud, Mary Poppins makes a jolly holiday out of everything.

Float 5: "Dream of Power"
Towering high upon a rocky mountain, Chernabog rules the roost over all that is evil! Taking villainous command are Scar, Ursula and Jafar, each determind to turn this dream into a nightmare! Jafar’s snake-like alter-ego even goes to the trouble of extending himself further in front of the float to scare all those who star at him.

Flat 6: "Dream of Adventure"
Characters from The Lion King and The Jungle Book bring this unit to life, with adventures fresh from the jungle. Timon, Pumba, Baloo and King Louie get the tribal celebrations going, with a herd of their favourite carnival animals marching in front of them.

Float 7: "Dream of Romance" (Part 1)
Among the lush flowers and green grasses of a royal palace garden, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Jasmine prepare for a fairytale finale.

Float 8: "Dream of Romance" (Part 2)
Leading from the enchanted fairy garden, a bridge elegantly sweeps back towards a huge crystal castle. Here for the occasion are the royal couples from Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Cinderella, with Beauty with her beastly prince too!

I'm just going to miss out on the 15th Anniversary celebrations next year as I'm going back in March, but as I understand it, they are having a year long anniversary celebration, so I'm sure I'll get back later in the year. Possibly for the end of the celebrations in March 08.

It seems as though the new Walt Disney Studios parade will be Disney's Stars and Motor Cars parade ported over from Florida. I've bolded it further down, but the synopsis is the synopsis of the Disney-MGM version, and may change in Paris, especially since both Disney and Pixar have churned out various hits since the parade's debut.
"Disney's Stars and Motor Cars Parade in Disney-MGM Studios was introduced in conjunction with the 100 Years of Magic Celebration, the year-long celebration of the 100th birthday of Walt Disney.

ATTRACTION

DISNEY'S STARS AND MOTOR CARS PARADE: Disney-MGM Studios stars join together in a celebrity cavalcade that features custom cars honoring Walt Disney's movie-making career. Celebrities from television and the silver screen take over the streets during this interactive parade. Aladdin and Jasmine, Luke Skywalker, Power Rangers, Miss Piggy, Mary Poppins, Mickey Mouse and others all are on hand.

Walt Disney, who got his start in motion pictures, is honored in a pre-show that pays homage to his pioneering creativity. Commentators along the parade route will share Walt wisdom as the parade makes its way through the park. More than a dozen stars ride in customized cars, many of them vintage models:

-- The Power Rangers are the newest additions to the parade, joining in spring 2005. Five generations of Power Rangers -- consisting of Time Force, Ninja Storm, Wild Force, Dino Thunder and Space Patrol Delta Power Rangers -- ride in the parade in a sleek, black roadster with lightning bolts streaming from the hood and a giant fan arching over the trunk.

-- The Monsters, Inc. car features Sulley and Mike Wazowski, atop a bright red car with the company logo.

-- The Toy Story car is a whimsical car in the shape of Andy?s bed features Buzz Lightyear and Woody, along with Bo Peep, Jessie, Mr. Potato Head and the Green Army Men.

-- The Mary Poppins car is a carousel of fun, with Mary Poppins, Bert and Dancing Penguins strolling down the street. The colorful car is topped with old-fashioned dancing carousel horses.

-- The Muppets car has Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and Sweetums "floating" along. A giant balloon balances over this unit.

-- The Star Wars Unit features Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia "flying" through the parade aboard their space travel machine. Walking nearby are Darth Vader and R2D2.

-- The Mulan vehicle features Mulan and friends under a giant dangling Chinese umbrella. Mushu and the Chinese Warriors walk side-by-side, escorting the courageous victor down Hollywood Boulevard.

-- The Aladdin unit carries Aladdin and Jasmine atop the Genie vehicle. Harem Girls also dance down the parade route.

-- The Hercules car splashed with thunderbolts carries Hercules, while Phil, Pain and Panic stroll alongside.

-- The Evil Villains follow with this 'wicked' float. From Hades to Cruella De Vil to Jafar, the Wicked Queen and Frollo, these scoundrels keep each other company atop a stretch limo -- painted black, of course.

-- Lilo and Stitch follow in a float covered with surf boards and palm trees.

--The Mermaid Unit celebrates the sea with Ariel and Sebastian, seashells, seahorses, and other favorite under-the-sea attendants.

-- The Playhouse Disney friends include Bear, Stanley, Treelo, and P and J Otter inside a big blue house car. JoJo and Goliath also walk along with the parade now.

-- Snow White & Dopey travel in a tribute to Walt Disney's first Oscar.

-- The Grand Marshal Unit gives guest riders the opportunity to "feel like a star."

-- The Finale is a 1929 Cadillac, with Mickey, Minnie and friends. Other characters interacting with guests include Alice, White Rabbit, Pinocchio and Geppetto.
