Animaniacs was number 10 in the week of it's release.

Now we will see Animaniacs Volume 2 probably this fall or next year.
Personally, I'm hoping for Vol. 1 of Tiny Toons before the second volumes of either Animaniacs or Pinky & the Brain... that way the second volumes of all three could be released simultaneously.

I really can't understand why TT wasn't released alongside these, or even before them. Whether you go on a chronological or quality basis, it still has the upper hand. Especially considering all the other Looney Tunes DVD releases going on in the past few years... I mean, it was pretty much the only successful addition of new characters to the Acmeverse (unless Animaniacs counts, as well). I was incredibly dissapointed when some of the TT characters didn't make a cameo in Looney Tunes: Back in Action.

$30 each for two dvd releases on the same day is already pushing it for customers. If they released three sets on the same day, more people will choose 1-2 out of 3, rather than all of them. And WB never thought Animaniacs could sell a lot, so that's why they didn't release Tiny Toons.

It's pushing it for bad DVD releases, but I'd shell out the cash for these three, done well, if released on the same day. Who cares? I'd spend it eventually, anyway.

For a company with a pretty decent record of animated television DVD releases (granted, mostly in the superhero genre), I'm surprised if they really thought Animaniacs or Pinky & the Brain wouldn't sell much... who do they think are buying the Looney Tunes Golden Collections? 8 year-olds? Parents? Who's working at WB DVD, anyway... must be 90 year-olds.

:( I still don't have this DVD yet! I tried Target, hoping for a lower price than Wal-Mart, but they don't have any copies of either set at all! I haven't been to Best Buy yet, but I'm think that's my best bet for a good price. If not, I'll suck it up and buy it at Wal-Mart. I really want this DVD!! It's driving me nuts!! The Youtube clips aren't good enough anymore!!! GAAAH ANIMANIACS!!! :P

I agree. If I were a kid and Animanaics had just stopped playing on TV and I saw a VHS collection of Animaniacs episodes or classic Looney Tunes shorts, I'd go for Animaniacs. I would miss that more than Classic Looney Tunes. And though I'm being completely biased, I would've rather watched a Classic Disney short than Looney Tunes for my classic animation viewing needs. Escapay has the LT GC DVDs, btw, but he only bought them because he was lucky to find them mistakenly dirt cheap at Wal-Mart (okay, MAYBE b/c they were also classic animation).

I don't get how out of touch certain retailers can be with customers. Here, you have the 10th highest selling DVD of the week and several stores simply don't have any of it. Internet buzz really should ensure that much-anticipated titles don't get understocked on stores that people rely on for everyday shopping.

Anyhow, a close personal friend of mine ordered their copy through Amazon.com (using UD's link, of course) and received it in a matter of a few days, even with the Free Super Saver Shipping. So tonight, I had my proper introduction to the series (only "Animaniacs", this is) and I must say I enjoyed it very much. I'm still not quite sure how I missed it pretty much altogether, since I remember hearing about "Pinky and the Brain" and "Tiny Toons" as well as other cartoon series from the period.

I really like the intertextuality of it all. I mean who would think of turning Goodfellas and The Godfather into pigeons and being able to entertain so heartily on so many levels? I've only seen a few Disc 1 episodes so far, but I'm definitely looking forward to seeing many more!

How about I just send you my copies? I feel so bad for you! I remembered how it felt when I didn't get Animaniacs right on July 25th and had to get it the day after.

Now that I think about it, that movie was also just begging for an Animaniacs appearance, considering their home (the WB water tower) was toppled.

I KNOW!
(Water from tower falls on Kate and instead of the Nemo gag the Warner Bros and the Warner sister pop up in the pool formally know as a car)
Yakko: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah maybe its time to get a new place.
OR
Dot: That’s the third time this week (mumbles incoherently and walks off)
OR
DJ: (points to the Warner’s) It... was them?
Or maybe the tower falls on Ralph OR SOMTHING!

That's where I see things just a little differently. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought they were called the Good"feathers" not Good"fellas" because they're birds... they got feathers. Makes more sense doesn't it?

Yes, they are called the Goodfeathers, but if you've seen the movie, then it's impossible not to recognize the caricatures of the De Niro, Pesci, and Liotta characters, at least in the first segment devoted just to them (which is the most I've seen of them thus far).

Ok, I love both Animaniacs and Pinky/Brain, but absolutley nothing is as awesome as Tiny Toons. I wanna see DVD sets!
We need season sets of all DCOSs and all DCOMs on DVD! And Better Cover Art!

Yeah I didn't see the movie, that's where all the confusion came from... sorry.

And of course, the Warners themselves are modeled on the Marx Bros. to a certain extent (which was acknowledged several times in the series).

And isn't Rob Paulson, the voice of Yakko a voice artist god of some sort?

I must admit, my favourite segments are those of Chicken Boo's.

Watching these, I'm not impressed with the picture. :(
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Yeah, most people, including myself, consider Rob to be right up there with Jim Cummings, Frank Welker, and others as one of the many modern voice actor legends. Y'know the "Yakko's World" segment where he makes a song out of naming all of the world's nations? Rob nailed that whole thing in one take.

Back on topic, the Animaniacs set is at the top of my DVDs-to-get list, and I've been coming across it everywhere. My only problem is that I've no money at the moment. Gah!

For anyone that doesn't know/remember Freakazoid, it had some close ties with Animanicas. Here's an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeQqtAM9PAQ
