I think so, too! I think it will reach 100 million. It seems to be flying under the radar, at the moment. All the articles from this weekend (about the movies) go on about The Matrix and Elf and Love, Actually, but none mention the great hold Brother Bear had...and that it finished a solid third, several million ahead of Scary Movie (which beat it the week before; barely). But I think, from the start, critics underestimated this film (I understand some of their criticisms, but felt they were too harsh)...

If this were a Pixar film, they wouldn't be underestimating it.

I actually love a lot of Disney's recent films very much, though they don't seem to be as popular or praised as the ones from the early 90's. Great outings of recent: Fantasia 2000, The Emperor's New Groove, Lilo & Stitch, and now Brother Bear; so, personally, I don't have any lowered expectations or depressing thoughts about the quality of Disney's films. Maybe I'm too optimistic when it comes to movies. But I never go in expecting to be disappointed or critical; rather, I know I'll like it, usually (but I never clicked with Treasure Planet, for whatever reason)..and I think, again, this is better than Finding Nemo. (Though I really liked Nemo. It was good.)

So I don't feel why they (the press, perhaps, box office people or critics) should be underestimating a Disney feature film. I just feel they are, in this case. Lilo & Stitch, to me, felt generally underestimated, too. It's my favorite film, and I wasn't surprised that it did so well, but a lot of critics and other people were...

But I think Brother Bear will indeed surprise everyone and make it past 100 million. That would be very good.

I also think it is better that Nemo. I am about 75% sure I will not buy Finding Nemo on dvd, but I am already 100% sure I will get Brother Bear the day it comes out! I hope Disney keeps making 2d!!!!! I think they will be making the wrong decision if they stop it.

According to the Box Office Mojo, Brother Bear made $44,022,400 as of Sunday night. That's not bad considering the low ratings some critics give it. A local NBC arts and entertainment reporter gave it 3.5 out of 4 stars.

The Matrix Revolutions and Elf take the #1 and #2 spot, respectively in the US.

The movie is only in theaters right now as opposed to being in the movie theater / cinema and DVD at the same time.

Yeah, believe it or not, there are people who will see commercials on TV of a movie and then wonder why it's not available to rent at Blockbuster. So the "Only in Theaters" message is for them.

somehow Brother Bear and Home on the Range might just be the two animated movies that will bring back the original 2D animation again.

I'm pretty sure that the UK release for Brother Bear WONT be December 5th. My guess is that it will be released half term week in February like Treasure Planet was this year.

I just saw Brother Bear again... the theatre was about 75-80% full. It may have been because the theatre advertised an 11am showing that didn't exist, so more people piled into the 12:15. Overall I enjoyed the movie even more this time. And if I get to see it a third time, I think I will enjoy it even more. This time the major drawback was the audience. There was some crazy lady behind me whose kids were too young to sit through a movie. So she kept talking and telling them what to look at on the screen. And one of the kids kept kicking the back of my seat. After two nasty glares she finally took a hint (about the kicking, not the talking unfortunately). As a whole the kids in the audience only seemed to really talk when the moose were on the screen. One time you could barely hear what the moose were saying. And the kids were not repeating the lines, they were just bored. And I agree, the moose are pretty lame. I know this is crazy early, but any idea when the Brother Bear DVD will come out? I hope it gets a nice 2-disc treatment with quality extras.

On Tuesday, Brother Bear earned another $3,811,836, bringing its total to $49,524,790. At this pace, I'm guessing it can pass 65 million by the end of this (upcoming) weekend, and what with the Thanksgiving holiday soon...well, I'm quite optimistic that it'll end its theatrical run having passed the 100 million barrier. That would be great! Let's hope...
