While I continue to work on my Duck collection with the help of the first [2] volumes of Chronological Donald, in the Disney Treasures line, I was doing some research, and while searching I recalled the feature "Duck Flies Coop" which was released in 1959.
If this is the short I'm thinking of it's one of the featues I'd like to own most and I see it's absent from the first 2 volumes. If any of you need help recalling it, in the film Donald has had it with Walt and decides to take a break in the midst of the cartoon -- at his peril.
Curiously, does anyone know if it is collected anywhere yet? Or should I assume that it'll make it's appearance on the next volume of Chronological Donald (there better be a next volume anyhow)?
Thanks for any help there.

"Duck Flies Coop" was an episode of Walt's anthology series which first aired in February of 1959. As far as I know, it didn't ever receive theatrical release. I assume much of it is comprised of clips/excerpts from his existing shorts and brief research confirms that "Donald's Double Trouble" is among the recycled. I'd bet that if we see it, it will be as a bonus feature on one of the remaining two Chronological Donald volumes. That's where "A Day in the Life of Donald Duck" showed up and I'm not sure how many other installments devoted solely to Donald were made (there's also "This is Your Life, Donald Duck"), but they seem like wise inclusions for future sets. Anyway, in case it's not already clear, "Duck Flies coop" hasn't shown up on any DVD. But there's a preview for it at the end of one of the Elfego Baca episodes on the Legendary Heroes set.

Which I figured was probably the case as I hadn't turned up any release, or the features inclusion anywhere in my searching. What I have seen of the short is probably, as you say, "excerpts" that aired long ago on the Disney Channel.Luke wrote:"Duck Flies Coop" was an episode of Walt's anthology series which first aired in February of 1959. I sure hope so, it'd be a shame for this not to make it on as definitive a Donald collection, in the Treasures line. That said, "beggars can't be choosers" and I'd simply hope for a quality release at some point -- if nothing else.I'd bet that if we see it, it will be as a bonus feature on one of the remaining two Chronological Donald volumes. That's interesting. To your knowledge (or anyone's) does this preview hint at a future release in it's entirety somewhere? Or is it just an "extra" they threw in for the heck of it -- which would seem odd to me.But there's a preview for it at the end of one of the Elfego Baca episodes on the Legendary Heroes set.
Whatever the case, thanks for the assist.

To clarify, it's a preview for "next week's episode" that comes at the end of the fifth Elfego Baca episode. It's simply promoting the anthology episode ("Duck Flies Coop") that would have aired the following week. It's no indication whatsoever of a DVD release, rather it's kept in tact to retain the original broadcast as it first aired. It's neat to see if you own the set, but definitely not something worth buying Legendary Heroes for, if you don't have interest otherwise.Texcap wrote:That's interesting.
