The Simpsons will never be seen in a full live action film or even an episode. I hear that Matt Groening opposes that kind of thing, so don't expect Dakota Fanning to be playing Lisa.
Well, the two posts above me were implying that there was live-action stuff. And I didn't think it was. And yeah, Dakota Fanning was born to play live-action lisa. Also (and I'm not just saying this because of Star Wars) Ian McDiarmid would make a perfect Mr. Burns. Just imagine him in a turquoise suit with a red tie. Excellent.

Holy crap, he would! I never even thought of that. Anyway, I saw the teaser, and while I'm excited now, there's no doubt that I would've been 100 times more excited if this news had come a few years ago. As it's been previously stated in this thread, The Simpsons have really been slipping over the past few years. But still, great news. They've been talking about a movie for years now, and I'm glad to see they're finally doing it.

slyslayer, please remember to run searches before posting new threads. You would have found this quite active existing thread on The Simpsons Movie (with which I've merged your new thread) and gotten more information even quicker than you did.

Also, please do not start the same thread in different forum and make sure that you are posting the thread in the correct forum.

Information like this is explained in much greater detail in the UD Forum Posting Guidelines and Helpful Links thread, which I encourage you to read:

Marge: "Our only hope is for you to face that mob and apologise for what you did."
Homer: "I would, but I'm afraid that if I open the door, they'll take all of you!"
Carl (in mob): "No we won't! We just want Homer!"
Homer: "Well, maybe not you, but they'll kill Grandpa!"
Grandpa: "I'm part of the mob!"

Hilarious. Can't wait for the movie. After watching every commentary of seasons 4-6, and realizing that the creators really care about the success and appeal of the show, I really think they'll make this movie great.

The whipping clip was great too.

Homer: "That's enough whipping for now."
*Dogs smile in relief*
Homer: "....with this arm!"
*switches to other arm and continues whipping the dogs*

This movie will die a slow painful death at the box office, I predict.

The Simpson's have worn out their welcome on television, just look at their ratings over the past few years.

I for one, think that this movie should have been made five to six years ago when they were at their peak and at their best and most topical.

I cannot get excited about this movie in the least. Sorry!!!

I saw the new trailer last night and it looks funny, but there was still no information on the plot. I don't think IMDB's plot is true.

Awesome trailer! I love the fact that it pokes fun at the zillions of CG films out recently. I would also still like info on the plot, but this is good for now!

Have you seen the big theater displays for The Simpsons...

Post by MickeyMousePal »

Have you seen the big theater displays for Silver Surfer and The Simpsons?

I was also wondering if anyone took a picture with them.
I have at my local AMC Theater and Edwards they had them both.
They look very impressive and cool.

If so, I haven't seen the first but I have seen the second one.

So, other than impressing you, what about them?

Yes, I'm talking about the display of The Simpsons and Fantastic Four 2.

So, PapiBear you haven't seen The Simpsons display at your local theatre?

Do you think Fox 20th Century did this so they can attract more audience to see these films? I just thought it was cool and something different them just cardboard boxes advertising movies. I heard some people offering $1,000 for The Simpsons display.
Oh at my local AMC Theater Homer’s Arm and remote is missing.

That's correct. I've seen one-sheet posters but no stand-up display like the one shown.

This is just a wild guess here, but I believe that film advertising, in whatever form, is done to generate interest in a film and get people to show up at the theater and pay to see it. That's just a guess, though.

I haven't seen either at my local theatre. Love The Simpsons one though. Roughly how tall is it?

When I saw POTC on Saturday night, the theatre had the Silver Surfer one up. It was very cool.

The Simpsons one, by comparison, was quite lame - just 5 banners on a wall. The one in the photo above is quite cool.

This was at an unusual cinema for me. The one I go to normally is part of a shopping mall, so the lobby isn't really big enough for larger displays (although there is a little nook that sometimes has them). It's always a treat to go to the massive city lobby or the one I went to on Saturday (at the former Fox Studios) and see a shiny lobby display.
