is GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE DVD worth it?

Post by quasi72 »

Guys, I have this question about GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE. I wanna buy it on DVD, but I don't know if the quality of the behind the scenes featurette is worth it or not. I like the cover A LOT! how is the image quality of the film? I love the movie. But when I get a DVD I also think of THE BONUS FEATURES. I dont' care about singalongs and stuff like that.

Can you guys help me???
thanks! :D

I bought it because its one of my favorite Disney films and i liked the making of documentary; I guess it depends on what your standard is on good or bad.

Image quality is pretty good - bonus features are some short making-of stuff from '80s and shorts and stuff. About the same as Oliver & Company in terms of extras.

I´d buy it just because of the "clock cleaners" short, I loooooove that short...anyway, The great mouse detective is a very cool movie so, yes now you´re saying this is hard to find, I´ll order it from amazon since they haven´t released it here in Mexico.

Funny, I was about to ask this same exact question.
I've been collecting most of the modern-era Disney films on DVD lately, and since Mulan, Tarzan, Aladdin, & Little Mermaid aren't available, I've been running short on titles to buy.
I'll probably pick this one up next (along with the original Fantasia)
Mostly just because it's from Musker & Clements.

The other is Howard Ashman, who continues to touch every note of our movies."

Yes! Yes! Yes!

The Great Mouse Detective DVD was very cool! Although it didn't bring many bonuses it brought enough. There are two extra cartoons and both of them were great. All the other bonuses were good too, so I would really recommend this movie.

Me too. And dont forget the other cartoon: Donald's Crime, that's great!

GMD DVD is not bad at all, I'm happy with the two shorts, the making of and with the scrapbook. And of course, for the chance of listening to Vincent Price as Ratigan, one of my favorites animated characters.

This is Disney we're talking about... I've decided to wait for Rescuers and Great Mouse Detective because we all KNOW without any doubt that Disney WILL re-release it. They've done it with every single movie and they will continue. I mean, almost every movie made before 1998 has had two releases at least (or will), and Mulan and Tarzan will be due for one soon.
