"Cars" Premiere at Lowe's Speedway, NC

Post by Karushifa »

Hey y'all. I found this article on WRAL-TV's website, and thought it was interesting:

"CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Gentleman, start your ... projectors?

'Cars,' the latest animated offering from Disney and Pixar, will premiere May 26 on four giant outdoor screens at Lowe's Motor Speedway in suburban Charlotte, studio and track officials said Thursday. The debut will come two nights before the track hosts the Coca-Cola 600, with proceeds from the 30,000 tickets benefiting Speedway Children's Charities...

The premiere, which Disney and Pixar are billing as the first multiple-screen digital cinema premiere ever, will involve some technological derring-do in Turn 2 of the speedway, where four 50-foot-high by 115-foot-wide outdoor screens are to be constructed.

The film will be projected on Texas Instruments DLP Cinema projectors and a special sound system is being installed for the event"

You can read the rest of the article at: http://www.wral.com/goodnews/8210265/detail.html

Considering how NASCAR-obsessed North Carolina is, I'm not too suprised that Pixar is premiering "Cars" here...and I think it's going to make sooooo much money here once it hits theaters.

I heard about the premiere this morning, and my wheels started turning . . . This may be my only opportunity to go to a Disney movie premiere! Because I'm in Virginia, I live a continent away from Los Angeles and the El Capitan. I always love looking at the premiere pictures on this site and always thought, "someday". It's only a 3 hour drive from my home to Lowe's Motor Speedway, and the speedway is selling tickets to the premiere.

To borrow a quote from Getcha Head in the Game, "Should I go for it?" Has anyone here been to a red carpet premiere? Would it be worth going, or would I be disappointed? Thanks for the feedback.

I'd be there in a heart beat! I believe it would be an experience to remember. I say, "Put the pedal to the metal", and go for it!

I just read about that the other day. Considering we just got the green light to have the Nascar Hall of Fame built here, the timing is good. I've never been to a premiere either, but since it's right here, it might be worth investigating.

Personally, I'd like to investigate this event further. It seems as if this article was geared more towards telling people about the movie itself (and mostly stuff that people here would already know). I think it would definitely be worth attending if any Pixar staff were going to be there and perhaps talk a bit about the movie. Plus, for techno-geeks, this seems to be a big deal for the projection technology they're using.

And yeah, for folks in NC-SC-VA, this may be our one chance in quite a while to have a major motion picture debut here. And be famous for something entertainment-related other than Dawson's Creek, for a change 8)
