Well hopefully, all the 38 Silly Symphonies left will be added in this one DVD, here is the current listing:
El Terrible Toreador
Springtime
Hell’s Bells
The Merry Dwarfs
Summer
Autumn
Cannibal Capers
Night
Frolicking Fish
Arctic Antics
Midnite in a Toy Shop
Monkey Melodies
Winter
Playful Pan
The Cat’s out
The Clock Store
The Fox Hunt
The Spider and the Fly
The Bird Store
The Bears and Bees
King Neptune
Bugs in Love
Santa’s Workshop
Birds in the Spring
Old King Cole
The Pied Piper
The Night before Christmas
The China Shop
The Goddess of Spring
The Orphan Kittens
Cock o’ the Walk
Broken Toys
Three Blind Mousketeers
More Kittens
Little Hiawatha
The Moth and the Flame
Merbabies
Mother Goose Goes Hollywood
I find it wierd that they put all the real good ones on the first one and leave most of the lackluster ones to the second volume. Most of these are from its early black and white years.
The Pluto Volume will only have 22 cartoons:
Rescue Dog
Mail Dog
Pluto’s Blue Note
Bone Bandit
Pluto’s Purchase
Cat Nap Pluto
Pluto’s Fledgling
Pueblo Pluto
Pluto’s Surprise Package
Pluto’s Sweater
Bumble Bee
Sheep Dog
Pluto’s Heart Throb
Pluto and the Gopher
Wonder Dog
Primitive Pluto
Puss-Café
Pets of the West
Food for Fuedin’
Camp Dog
Cold Storage
Cold Turkey
Seems like this volume will have the lowest amount of cartoons.

Welcome to the forum, DL-Craze.
I think something must be off with your Silly Symphonies list, as online sources show that a total of 75 were made and that 31 were included on the first DVD, leaving 44, not 38. Either way, that's more than is usually included on the Treasures tins, but it would be nice to get the whole rest of the bunch. Goofy's tin had 46 cartoons, so it's obviously doable without sacrificing quality.

"Fifteen years from now, when people are talking about 3-D, they will talk about the business before 'Monsters vs. Aliens' and the business after 'Monsters vs. Aliens.' It's the line in the sand." - Greg Foster, IMAX chairman and president
As for the rest of the animated shorts not released, I suspect they will probably make a Disney Rarities Volume 2 and contain these animated shorts:
Disney Rarities Volume 2: 1920-1960's
Hot Chocolate Soldiers
Scrooge McDuck and Money
Casey Bats Again
Susie the Little Blue Coupe
It’s Tough to be a Bird!
How to Catch a Cold
Chicken in the Rough
Two Chips and a Miss
The Lone Chipmunks
Figaro and Cleo
Bathday
Figaro and Frankie
Freewayphobia
Goofy’s Freeway Trouble
Donald in Mathmagic Land
Donald and the Wheel
Steal and America
Donald’s Survival Plan
Alice Comedies
Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Cartoons
Hot Chocolate Soldiers is one of the most rare Disney shorts dating back to 1934.
Scrooge McDuck and Money, Casey Bats Again, Susie the Little Blue Coupe, It’s Tough to be a Bird!, How to Catch a Cold were all Disney Rarities not included in the first volume.
Figaro and Cleo, Figaro and Frankie, and Bathday were all Figaro based cartoons, one containing Minnie Mouse.
Chicken in the Rough, The Lone Chipmunks, and Two Chips and a Miss were all Chip n' Dale based cartoons.
I list these six cartoons containing Figaro and Chip 'n' Dale as rarities beacuse Humphrey's lone cartoons were incuded on Volume 1 and since they are not part of the elite group of Mickey, Pluto, Donald, and Goofy based shorts, they should be considered rarities.
I list all these Donald cartoons such as Donald in Mathmagic Land
Donald and the Wheel, Steal and America, and Donald’s Survival Plan becuse they werent yoyr typical Donald cartoons and they ran longer than the traditional timelength of 6, 7, or 8 minutes.
Same goes for the two Goofy cartoons such as Freewayphobia and Goofy's Freeway Trouble, these the two last Goofy cartoons made and the only lone Goofy cartoons not included in The Complete Goofy.
As for the Alice Comedies and Oswal cartoons, some can be added because there aren't enough cartoons to fill this DVD Treasure.
Maybe it can be 1920's-1970's so it can include "The Small One" to make the roster a little bit more stable.

Thank you for your kind welcome and yes what you said is true. I am not an owner of the Silly Symphones volume but from different sources, it says there were six extra Silly symphonies included in the easter eggs making it a total of 37 since they don't add the extra cartoons on the roster. Add 38 and you get the complete total of 75 Silly Symphonies. The extra easter eggs being "The Grasshopper and the Ants", "Water Babies", "Who Killed Cock Robin?", "Wynken, Blynken and Nod", "Farmyard Symphony" and "The Practical Pig". Can anyone confirm this?Luke wrote:Welcome to the forum, DL-Craze.I think something must be off with your Silly Symphonies list, as online sources show that a total of 75 were made and that 31 were included on the first DVD, leaving 44, not 38. Well, that certainly clears that up! And the breakdown now seems perfectly conducive to putting the rest on Volume 2. Thanks for the information! We really need to get a Silly Symphonies review up here before the next one comes out.DL-Craze wrote:Thank you for your kind welcome and yes what you said is true. Hehe, maybe we can ask PlutoRegion1 to write a review since Paka got it for her in Secret Santa! BTW, where is PR1? I haven't heard from her on the boards since her UD report about the Lady and the Tramp premiere at El Capitan.Luke wrote: Well, that certainly clears that up! Busy, but we'll be hearing more from her soon in the way of another exciting report! By the way, Paka herself has "called" Silly Symphonies V1, so 'tis no longer up for grabs, not that anything really ever is.Escapay wrote:Hehe, maybe we can ask PlutoRegion1 to write a review since Paka got it for her in Secret Santa! Hehehe. You should auction DVD reviews to your staff! It would give them more incentive to write them, and you'll earn some money on the side! Also nice to hear that PR1 is coming back with another report!Luke wrote:Busy, but we'll be hearing more from her soon in the way of another exciting report! I personally like each serial equally - but for different reasons. I think most Disney fans would enjoy the Hardy Boys Applegate Treasure serial more than the first Spin and Marty serial. The Hardy Boys serial has more excitement and suspense - plus there is a mystery to solve. So I feel you will probably enjoy the Hardy Boys serial more than you did the Spin and Marty.Bill W wrote:Jerry, I'm wondering how does this Hardy Boys serial (Applegate Treasure) compare to the Spin and Marty serial released in the last wave? I found the Spin and Marty set to be okay, but not great, nor do I think it is something I will return to often for repeat viewings. I thought the acting and direction was okay, but the story was a bit hokey. I hope the Hardy Boys serial is better.
Lacklustre? There's some great titles there. The two Christmas shorts, for a start - Birds In The Spring - Cock O The Walk - and Goddess Of Spring... mmm... Hi De Hades! It's all good stuff.DL-Craze wrote:I find it wierd that they put all the real good [Silly Symphonies] on the first one and leave all the lackluster ones to the second volume. Anyway, I'm a sucker for melodic monochrome madness, so all those b/w shorts are manna from heaven to me.
This sounds like a great wave. I'm even feeling half-tempted to buy the Hardy Boys set.

That's true, but you got to admit, the first volume has some of the better ones.MK Sharp wrote:Lacklustre? There's some great titles there. Could "Dad, can I borrow the car?" be included in a Rarities V2?
You can read a bit about in here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0150255/. Released in 1970, this 47 minute film was directed by Ward Kimball, with Kurt Russell narrating.
I've seen it once or twice, but this was a long time ago!

Treasures Wave 7 and beyond
I am thrilled to be getting Hardy Boys, Pluto v2, Silly Symphonies v2 and Your Host, Walt Disney. I will import them all. Actually, it works out cheaper to import them unless UK customs gets a hold of them! If they did come out in May/June that would be great and then hopefully we could see Donald v3, Rarities v2, ?, ? by the end of the year. I have all the treasures so far (Wave 1-3 from eBay and the rest from Amazon) and can't wait to see the rest of the shorts (all of them) soon. I will be broke but have hours of entertainment. I am still working through most of the ones I already have - I usually mix and match and vary animated shorts with live action here and there over weekends. Ithink DL-Craze's list of DD v3&4, Rarities v2 and SS v2 look great. If there aren't enough shorts to fill a second disc they should go post 1970 and include later shorts/features the same way they did in MMILC v2 with Runaway Brain, Christmas Carol etc.

They actually already put that episode (Walt's last appearance on film/TV) in the "Tomorrowland" Treasures set. It's still available on the second-hand market at a reasonable price if you poke around a little bit.Timon/Pumba fan wrote:"Your Host, Walt Disney" sounds awesome! I hope they include the special where he describes his plans for Epcot!
I look forward to the TV shows included in this set. Of course, Walt's most extensive acting appearance in the shows was "I Captured The King Of The Leprechauns" (5/29/59), which has already been released on DVD with Darby O'Gill and the Little People. But I still expect this to be on the set.bcotter wrote:The "unlocked" title is "Your Host, Walt Disney", which will be a selection of television shows in which Walt played a major part. These would be ones that he appears throughout the show, not just for the introduction. The exact episodes are being finalized but that is the title. I'll be taping my segment for it once the episodes are set in stone.
Let me see ... other possibilities. Right this moment, I can't remember all the shows that Walt appeared throughout the show rather than just the opening and closing hosting duties.
Of course, Walt appeared throughout the show in many of the Disneyland themed shows. It would be nice to have at least one Disneyland theme show in the batch. I would vote for Disneyland Around The Seasons (12/18/66) - Walt's last Disneyland theme show and one rarely seen by most Disney fans.
Magic Highway U.S.A. (5/14/58) is a nice show on the importance of America's highways in which Walt appeared throughout the show.
Walt appeared throughout the shows in the various "animated" TV shows such as "The Story Of The Silly Symphony" (4/11/56). It would be nice to have at least one of those. "An Adventure In Art" (4/30/58), "Adventure In Fantasy" (11/6/57), and "From Aesop To Hans Christian Andersen" (3/2/55) would all be good selections.
I can't recall how extensive Walt's appearance was (although I think he provided the narration throughout the show) but I would love to see "The Great Cat Family" (9/19/56) as part of this set or a later set.
That's all I can think of right now.
Bill, I know you said that the shows had not yet been chosen but do YOU have FAVORITES that you would like to see on this set???
By the way, HI AGAIN!!!
Yay for more Silly Symphonies!
The old set was, in one word, a mess. No chronological order, some shorts hidden as easter eggs, doubles in the "Leonard's picks" categories (some of which were doubles of the hidden easter eggs) and there were errors in the listing in the booklet. But I can confirm that there are indeed 37 unique shorts on the set, and the six easter eggs are the ones DL-Craze listed.
There's also an interesting error on the "Farmyard Symphony" short; the intro says "MCMXXXIII" (1933) when it should have been "MCMXXXVIII" (1938). It's possible they didn't have the real intro card to that one and had retouch it from another and someone messed up in the process (or it was there originally, but that does seem kind of unlikely.)

That card is a remade one anyway, replacing the original version which had the "RKO Radio Pictures" credit. So the error was made whenever that was done - probably 1950s or 60s.Pyoko wrote:There's also an interesting error on the "Farmyard Symphony" short; the intro says "MCMXXXIII" (1933) when it should have been "MCMXXXVIII" (1938). I saw the Tomorrowland Treasures set for sale at several shops in Disneyland just a week ago, too, so if anyone's in the Southern California area, heads up!MikeyMouse wrote:They actually already put that episode (Walt's last appearance on film/TV) in the "Tomorrowland" Treasures set.
