Will we ever get Special Editions of Hunchback and Hercules?

Post by ChrisLyne »

Just wondered if anyone knew anything (rumor or otherwise) as to whether or not we could see a special edition of either Hunchback of Notre Dame or Hercules in the next year or so?

I love both films but I'm holding off buying them for now as I feel a SE must be coming soon!

With the exception of Rescuers Down Under we have (or will soon have) every film from Little Mermaid through to Lilo and Stitch as a 2 disc Platinum, Collectors or Special Edition with the exception of these two! (and Fantasia 2000 but that got 3 disc treatment with the original)

Just wondered if anyone had any news. I love these films and really want to add them to my DVD collection, but don't want to get 1 disc versions when I'm almost certain a 2 disc SE is coming.

I think both are excellent movies and they deserve the best of treatments from Disney. I love Hercules' animation style and The Hunchback of Notre Dame's music. The voices of The Hunchback are an allstar cast Kevin Kline, Demi Moore and Jason Alexander !! I'll buy both, of course !!!

I know a fast way to get a Hercules 2-disc special edition... I just gotta go and buy the regular-release disc and then they'll come out with a special edition like the next day :P
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

The only reason I haven't bought Hunchback is due to the hope that it will be released in the form of a better quality DVD. I already have Hercules, but I won't mind double dipping for that :D , as long as it is better than the copy I have now that is.

I was very happy when Disney released the Mulan SE. I would be equally happy to see Hercules and Hunchback in 2-disc sets. Another one of my favorites is The Aristocats. I would really love a SE release of it :)

i'm really hoping for 10th anniversary editions of both of these films in the next 2 years. I love the Pocahontas 10th anniversary edition! my guess is that disney will re-release these titles in some kind of special edition, since that is a trend now a days. but who knows...

I don't know why Disney feels they need to pretend Hunchback never happened. Yes is more mature that their other feels but that's exactly why it deserves to be praised. It has always been my favorite of the Disney films. Because I like the darker stuff, I was actually really disapointed with Hercules as a follow up. Especially with the cheap looking animation. It just seemed like all the ground they broke wih Hunchback was for nothing. It's ok I guess. It has a catchy soundtrack but I wouldn't buy it.

I can't wait to see those films on their anniverssary editions, and my predictions for those films are these:
1º If Disney will release for this summer Dumbo and Lilo & Stitch they are not going to release the hunchback this summer, so they may release it on fall with the fox and the hound like they did last year with Tarzan and TENG.
2º They will release both titles the next year one on summer and the other on fall, or both in the same season.

Hercules and Hunchback

Post by TheSequelOfDisney »

I've been waiting awhile for a Special Edition of both Hercules and Hunchback. I don't see why they would release pretty bad copies of these movies, then wait forever to get off of their lazy bums and finally put together a fantastic copy. Why can't they make a fantastic copy, instead of making a bad one, then a good one? Wouldn't that cost less money?
