Cinderella Castle

Post by magicalwands »

They painted it for the 50th anniversary, but will they change it back to the original colors after it's over? Or will they keep the new colors until the 75th or 100th anniversary? It's nice and all but even if it looks better I think they should change it back.

I believe they will change it back either just before or just after this Christmas. The HCOE began in May 2005 and was set to last 18 months, so it should end sometime around Thanksgiving. Of course, they'll want to wait and cover the castle up during a slow time.

actually they don't really cover it up, they literally take it apart. a friend of mine went and she said that the entre top half of the castle was gone while she was down. that's when they were setting it up, i'm guessing. she went around this time last year i believe. I'm going down this june so i'm really happy that it'll most likely still be up!!! i went the Disneyland over the summer last year and Disneyland was amazing looking!

The castle was painted? I know they put up streamers, golden character statues, and the giant mirror that shows all of the Disney theme park castles, but I didn't know they actually painted the castle itself. I'm probably the only one who wants this, but I think the character statues should be left there. The streamers and mirror definitely need to go once the celebration's over, but I love those statues so much. They really make Cinderella's castle seem like a home for all Disney characters. Plus, their gold paint makes the top gold spire look less random than it normally does.

No, actually were talking about the castle in Disneyland I believe. That castle DID get a paint job, not to mention got alot of golden crowns placed on it.

As for the castle at WDW, no it wasn't painted(or at least, not as far as I know)! :)

That's Sleeping Beauty Castle. Which would account for the confusion. They should get rid of the gold paint trim once the anniversary is over.

The confusion used to be exacerbated by the fact that the restaurant at Cinderella's Castle was, until fairly recently, King Stefan's Dining Hall--King Stefan being Sleeping Beauty's father.

They do use tarps and construction walls at WDW. While the decorating process was going on, they hid cranes behind the castle so that they could raise up to do work after-hours. They tried to keep as much of the castle visible as possible, but there were visual obstructions. They don't exactly take the top half of the castle off, but I think they did remove at least some of the lower turrets to wrap them in gold.

As far as I know, they didn't actually paint any of Cinderella's Castle.

I hope they painted it back, with out the gold staff, the pastel color do not combine with the castle walls, look like if they got short with the paint buckles
For your reference and records my native language is Spanish.

LOL. The pastel pinks and blues are the way Sleeping Beauty Caslte is supposed to be! In the past 10 years, it looked the way it did because the paint faded and there was no good upkeep at the park during this time. It's great to have the castle back to the way it's supposed to be,

That never happened. The castle was always intact, it was just covered up in blue tarps to be painted. I went to the park several times when this was happening, and when the sun hit the tarps you could clearly see the outline of the castle behind it. What would be the point of taking it apart?

Actually that is right (then they have to make it look older again I think, lol) but still too strong the contrast between the new paint and the base walls..probably a touch up in the wall can do it the job...I do not know simply do not looks correct

i was talking about CINDERELLA'S CASTLE in WDW, not SLEEPING BEAUTY'S CASTLE in Disneyland. But i could possibly be wrong with what i said about cinderella's castle, in which case i'm gonna yell at my friend lol.

Sorry, you spoke of the castle being taken apart and about Disneyland in the same paragraph so I assumed. Taking the 77 foot tall Disneyland Castle was a lot easier to think about than taking apart the 189 foot WDW Castle.

I would have to disagree. When I first saw the Castle after the rehab, I was just shocked at how bad it looked before. If it has to be the smallest Disney castle, it should at least look it's best at all times. The fading paint just made it look old and dirty in places.
