I knew that Curse Of The Pink Panther and Son Of The Pink Panther were coming out in January but not Inspector Closeau! Thanks for posting that Jimmy Crick! This will complete my collection!

I'd go ahead and get the collection Robin Hood. Unless there are some of the movies that you don't want...but I think you would all of them because their all great! It would probably much cheaper that way to.

Announcer: And now The Panther Report with JiminyCrick91.
JC91 (ME): Good evening. Our top story tonight http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/thepinkpanther has updated with games, info, a music video and more.
In other news this one slipped by us but other than Jerry Beck's book "Pink Panther: The Ultimate Guide to the Coolest Cat in Town" many other Panther themed books were published in the last two months. Included in the batch of books are such things as Meet the Pink Panther, The Pink Panther Movie Storybook, Novel, Jr. Novel, and a Pink Panther Sticker Book.
And now for those light Panther fans they may have to dig a bit deeper now as The Pink Panther Cartoon Collection: Jet Pink has been discontinued. Also the single three volumes from The Pink Panther Classic Cartoon Collection have been delayed indefinitely.
And now for Timon/Pumba fan for the Pink Ticker Countdown. T/P?
T/P: Thanks Jiminy. Well right now it is 15 days until The Pink Panther. JC?
JC91(Me): Thank you for that T/P fan. Well than seems to be all the news for now but remember to buy the new pink discs on Tuesday and on behalf of Me,JiminyCrick91, Timon/Pumba fan and Mr. Announcer: Good Night and remember to THINK PINK.

R2 is soon geting the 1993 show The New Pink Panther Show on DVD. In this show the Panther spoke and was made to tie into Son Of The Pink Panther which had just come out. Does this mean we will see it here?....Hopfully (and a set of Inspector/Ant and Aardvark toons would be nice. I mean if they go as far as puting out the'93 show why not the other non-pink but panther related toons.) Prehaps when the DVD of the new film comes out. This was the show that showed me the Pink Panther for the frist time (yes for me Inspector Jacques Clouseau came later) and I hope I get to see it again. The cover art for the UK release is here http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/ ... e-one.html

I went ahead and bought the 5-disc collector's edition of The Pink Pather animation. For me to spend that much money on DVD's is almost unheard of - but when I saw the packaging...it was a must have for me.
Anyway, after spending the weekend sharing these wonderful shorts with my own kids (which they totally fell in love with and watched for hours enthralled), I was pleasantly surprised when I opened up the insert and out fell a free movie ticket to see The Pink Panther in theaters!!!
The packaging for this DVD set is amazing - it's case is almost like a cushion (reminds me of VHS clamshell packaging except cushionier). I totally recommend it, it's worth the money. I found it for $40 at Wal-Mart.

The Steve Martin version of "The Pink Panther" was soooooo boring. It just isn't funny and Peter Sellers never had to revert to fart jokes and other toilet himor to get his laughs. Kevin Kline can't decide if he has an accent or not, and Steve Martin is just doing a very pale imitation of Peter Sellers. There is basically no story, and the movie just plods along with a bit of slapstick humor thrown in to keep you from going to sleep. I give this */5 and that is being generous. Wait and rent it with your free rental certificate when it comes out, probably in June on DVD. I don't see anyone over the age of 12 enjoyiing this movie at all.

Hey, back from his short stint of absence, it's Just Myself!
I saw the film yesterday for my birthday and I thought that Steve Martin did the best with what material he had. I think no one expected it to be better (or even on level with) Sellers' Panther, and it wasn't. But, it was still funny on its own merits.
PS to Junkie- There was one fart joke in the whole thing. Whoopee.

Just Myself, the whole movie was one big fart joke, it smelled up the theater. I think that it would have been a much better movie if they had let Steve Martin re-invent Clouseau instead of imitating Peter Sellers version. This movie was so bad that it makes "Curse of the Pink Panther" look good and it was horrible.
See my review of the this movie under Screening Log 2006.

Actually, Just Myself. Steve Martin co-wrote it, so it's more than "Just the material he had".Just Myself wrote:Hey, back from his short stint of absence, it's Just Myself!

As for the fart joke debate, didn't one of the Sellers-less films made with clips have a fart in an elevator joke played out by Sellers?

It is comments like that one that show your total immaturity as a person. Why don't you just get off your soap box and call someone a liar?Just Myself wrote:
You see, comments like that make me question who you are in real life. I always found it hard to believe that you own as many DVD's as you do or see movies at the theater as often as you do.
I never review a movie that I haven't see at least twice. I pay to see all the movie I review (well, most of the time). I don't count review copies on my collection of DVD's, I buy all of them...........I also copy some from Turner Classic Movies that are not on DVD yet and then erase them when I buy the released version. I am truly a movie buff, and the name DVD Junkie came from my grandkids. It is not something "I" made up.
By the way, "Pink Panther" opened at number one this weekend, the real test will be to see how far it drops down next weekend. A person who reivews films can't keep people away from the box office, it is just an opinon of that person who "saw" the film and expressed his likes and dislikes about it. I would venture to say that more than half of the people who went to see the Panther film this past weekend came out of the movie thinking "that was a real waste of money and time".
I will stand by what I wrote in "Screening Log 2006", it is a movie that should never have been made. I love Steve Martin, and knowing that he had co-writing credits with this film makes me wonder what he was thinking. Also, if the movie was so good, why did the studio put it on the back burner two different times before releasing it when they did?

A word of warning. This cartoon set does not contain the "vintage" Ant and Aardvark cartoons which aired as part of the series (and to add insult to injury, both the characters are shown in the openings).JiminyCrick91 wrote:R2 is soon geting the 1993 show The New Pink Panther Show on DVD.
