Movies You Can't Turn Off

Post by daryliscool1 »

Does anyone else have certain movies that they cannot turn off or flip the channel on? It doesn't matter how many times you've seen it, you have to watch the movie or you'll feel guilty. A few of mine are below...

Auntie Mame- I cannot tell you how many times I watched this movie with my mom when I was growing up. Now, whenever I see it on, I have to leave it on. Most of the times, it's on really early in the morning, so I just fall asleep to it.

The Wizard of Oz- This has been my favorite movie as long as I can remember. If it comes on, I have to leave it running. I can be doing homework or reading, but it has to remain on. I can recite every single line, so in a way, it helps my concentration.

Gone with the Wind- Another classic I was brought up on. This movie is a masterpiece. Every time I watch it, I notice something different.

So does anyone else have this happen to them?

I don't watch a movie that I don't intend on finishing. Unless it's a real crappy one but I simply don't watch it in the first place. :)

I mean, if you are flipping through the channels and catch this certain movie, and can't go any further. I never watch a DVD I don't intend on finishing. However, this is different if I'm channel surfing.

I can't turn off Back to the future.
I love those movies, and if I see one of them while I'm flipping through channels, I definitely can't turn it off. :)

For me I would say it would have to be Sister Act 1 or 2 no matter how many times I have seen these movies I can watch them every time I see either one on the tv. Sweet Home Alabama I cant seem to turn the channel once I run on to it. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is another Favorite of mine. :)
Wizard of Oz is also one of my favorite too. I remember when I was a little girl being so excited that i was going to get to watch it. I have it on dvd too. :D

The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I just can't help but be cheered up by watching it. If ever I'm feeling down or depressed, I reach for Rocky.

I could spend hours just watching Tim Curry's background acting. Watch him stealing the shots from MeatLoaf in the Hot Patootie number, just by standing in the background. The man is a genius. He really should get more work other than animation voice overs. :(

The good news is that as well as a new release of the film, we can expect the semi-sequel Shock Treatment to hit DVD in 2006.

After three....

I'm watching the Matrix right now and I don't intend on turning it off mainly because it's the only thing that's worth watching right now.

These are the movies that I don't have but I watch TV and I never turn off.
1. A Knights Tale
2. Dragon Heart
3. Any James Bond Movies
4. Fast and Furious (of course we all know why)
4. Blade
5. Behind Enemy Lines
6. Harts War
7. Enemy at the Gates
To be continued...

I'm not sure what it is about The Great Escape, but no matter what point I tune in, I'm there until the end.

I must have seen the last half of that film a dozen times!

It is strange, because while I really enjoy the film and have the DVD, I wouldn't list it in my personal "Top 10". Still, if it is on the box, I can't turn off.

The Birdcage (every single time this is on either Bravo, Oxygen, Spike, Comedy Central, or TBS - I just have to watch it, God only knows why, everytime I do I draw tons of distinctions between myself and them. Robin Williams is kind of mean in that movie :D )

For some reason, whenever I turn on to a Back to the Future film or an Ernest movie, I usually watch it all the way through.

Casablanca and Road Warrior is the one movie I can not turn off.

Otherwise, any Buster Keaton's silent movies, especially 7 Chances, Sherock Holmes Jr. and General, I can not turn off. You could say the same thing about Jackie Chan's best Hong Kong movies, Police Story 1 or Project A 1 or 2. Once the action starts I can't turn it off.

I found out last night that I can't turn off U.S. Marshals even when the Matrix is on but I have the Matrix, I don't have U.S. Marshals. Now if they had The Fugitive on once in a while I would watch that too.

I have to agree with a few of you, the Back to the Future Movies always suck me in. If I see one on T.V. I end up getting my set and watching them 1-3 all the way through.
Also the Parent Trap (original) it's one of my favorites and it never gets old for me.

I cannot turn that movie off! I see it almost ever time I flip a channel. It is so funny. This movie, if done right would be a great part II. :)
