Oddly enough, I put the Treasures on separate orders and Donald has shipped and the Rareties has not. I pre-ordered Rareties back in September with Kiss Of Death which might the one holding up the order.

Well they kept their word and shipped the Treasures today and with the free upgrade to 2 day shipping I should see them them on Wednesday :) That beats the 12-11 ship date they originally posted. I guess the squeeky wheel does get the oil :!:

My DVD's were shipped today, and even as I speak, it is currently on it's way from Fernley NV, and is currently in transit in LA.

Sounds like you went for the express option.

Treasures backorder

Post by Mouseketodd »

I ordered all four Walt Disney Treasures from Disney (about $24.99 ea.), taking advantage of a special free shipping offer with a $75 or $100.00 purchase (I don't recall which).

The original shipping date was 12/1.

Last week, I got an email saying these items were now on backorder, with 'Rarities' and 'Donald' shipping 12/12, and 'Spin & Marty' and 'Heroes' shipping 12/31.

When I called and asked Disney about the possibility of running out of inventory, and not being able to fulfill orders, they said they usually have quantities to cover what they've promised as a backorder. I'm invited to cancel if I choose to.

Rather than wait on the order while area stores sell all of theirs, I'm going to try to purchase now, just in case Disney actually does run out.

Strange, that the source of these products (Okay, I know the catalog doesn't produce the DVDs!), can't supply them on a timely basis.

I asked a nearby Borders if they had any Treasures in their inventory, and the clerk saw nothing about the releases.

And to read about the varying shipping times for Amazon, I wonder what is going on.... Was immediate demand overwhelming? That would be good news for the Treasures line.

Please keep these Treasure releases coming, Disney!!!

We ordered the set of four from amazon, and Spin and Marty as a gift from Disney direct (we ordered other stuff from both, and got the free shipping for $75 from Disney). Disney sent the other stuff we ordered, but said that Spin and Marty was back-ordered. Amazon.com lists our expected delivery date as 12/16 - 12/23. We leave on the 23rd for Christmas, so I hope that beats it. I wonder what the deal is. If you order something like Harry Potter books from amazon they arrive on the day they go on sale. I wonder why these are so late?

I should e-mail them as well.

I e-mailed Amazon and complained about my original ship date on the 11th, and told them if they could not ship I would cancel and buy it elsewhere and they gave me free 2 day shipping, since then they shipped on the 5th and UPS tracking has it out for delivery today :!: I would suggest e-mailing them and see what happens :!:

I went to Sams Club at lunch and they had about 8 copies of each of them for $20.88 each with no shipping. Granted, I did have to endure the blizzard we are having right now in Northern Utah, but I know I have them at least.

Wow! That's excellent. My WDT amazon order, placed in August, shipped on the 5th, and is estimated to arrive in Sweden on December 30. No free shipping whatsoever, I might add.

Yep.

I do that not only for the Treasures, but also on The LT Golden Collections and the Rocky and Bullwinkle sets.

The rest of the DVD's I buy at Amazon, I usually have it sent expedited delivery.

I usually do that for the Treasures, but this year I just couldn't justify the added expense (I think it was an extra $20-$30 US dollars).

I've switched to standard shipping for almost everything else, because that still only takes a few weeks to a month max (unless there is some major delay).

Mind you, last year I got the Treasures expedited as well, and they got held up in customs for a bit (I suspect because they were 4 metal tins).

I e-mailed amazon.com and they replied by e-mail that they shipped that day (yesterday), but the web site still shows that it hasn't shipped. So who knows.
