Oh 'Canadian Dog' eh? That would be interesting. I mean American Dog looks interesting but of course I would prefer 'Canadian Dog'.Wonderlicious wrote:I have to agree with Patrick on this one, however I can imagine the CGI hangover going well into 2007; expect Dreaworks to issue 2 all new and all fun computer generated movies into cinemas...introducing The Frog Prince Plucked from the Pond and Canadian Dog!

Wow 2006 will be a larger year than I thought for new releases. I know I'll get tired of all the CGI animated movies and I'll crave more traditionally drawn or looking movies. (Actually I'm already craving more... I heard about the 2D animated 'Hellboy' movie and TV series in the works and I'm all over that)
CGI is great but I really like animation variety and some of these new Flash shows are getting tiresome. I like some of the interesting styles you can make in Flash (like 'Foster's home for Imaginary Friends') but I really miss the days of other animation. I guess I'll have to rely on Hanna-Barbera's sets or other classic toons for that!

Meet the Robinsons I'm not so sure of yet. But the art for it is gorgeous. Looks good, animation-wise.
And Disney would have to start all over from scratch again if they wanted to make 2-D movies again. They pretty much "demolished" their 2-D animation unit by getting rid of everything like artists' desks, tables, etc etc. An artist friend of mine who actually worked at Disney for a time stated this. And it's pretty obvious. But maybe they'll slowly do it from the ground up. But until then, we'll let time cast out 2-D's fate. It's no good to constantly over and over talk about how much 2-D needs to be brought back. If that's the case, then audiences should've bothered to give it a chance when the movies came to theaters.
I'm really interested into seeing Flushed Away. That looks good. It's CG too, yes?
in 2008, Kung Fu Panda from Dreamworks comes out. THAT looks really good! ^_^

Yep, it's Aardman's (Chicken Run, Wallace & Gromit) 1st CGI picture. It will stay true to Aardman's look and style. I don't know if their future projects Crood Awakening (2008) and Tortoise Vs. Hare (2007) will be CGI or Claymation.Kenai wrote: I'm really interested into seeing Flushed Away. That looks good. It's CG too, yes?

Seriously though, i wouldn't say Disney is dead, dormant maybe..but certainly not dead.

Disney hopefully isn't dead. However, while Chicken Little was a good movie, it lacks much disney magic. The Corpse Bride was much more like a great Disney movie with its musical numbers, story involving good and evil, morals, trippy sequences, and all around greatness, and with the lack of toilet humor.
Wlecome, foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion.

Well Dreamworks beat Pixar for once, as they are gonna release their rat movie first, had Chicken Little and Cars not been pushed back. This might be another story.Wonderlicious wrote:I have to agree with Patrick on this one, however I can imagine the CGI hangover going well into 2007; expect Dreaworks to issue 2 all new and all fun computer generated movies into cinemas...introducing The Frog Prince Plucked from the Pond and Canadian Dog!
what do you mean? antz beat bugs life, and shrek beat monsters inc too.Kingpopper wrote:Well Dreamworks beat Pixar for once, as they are gonna release their rat movie first, had Chicken Little and Cars not been pushed back. In what way did Antz beat A Bug's Life?mr jinx wrote:what do you mean? antz beat bugs life, and shrek beat monsters inc too.
Domestic box office?
A Bug's Life $162,798,565
Antz $90,757,863
Worldwide box office?
A Bug's Life $363.4
Antz $171.8
Home video?
The only way Antz beat A Bug's Life was at being released to theaters first and I guess that was your point so never mind. Should have read it clearer before I researched.Discount Store News wrote:'The release of "A Bug's Life," marked the first time a major animated feature film produced by Disney was released in both the DVD and VHS formats. "A Bug's Life" became the best selling DVD title in the two weeks after its release and the best-selling children's title in the brief history of the new format, according to VideoScan data.
"Fifteen years from now, when people are talking about 3-D, they will talk about the business before 'Monsters vs. Aliens' and the business after 'Monsters vs. Aliens.' It's the line in the sand." - Greg Foster, IMAX chairman and president

This really, really, really makes me mad. For the last time, Flushed Away is not a copy of a Pixar in-production film. The film was officially announded in mid 2002! And they're likely to have been working on it for at least 12 months before the annoucement!

http://www.toonhound.com/forthcoming.htm#flushedRelease Date Notes: (5/25/02) I've gotten a tip that DreamWorks has bumped this down their schedule considerably to sometime in 2005, a year later than Wallace and Gromit. (8/29/02) Well, that film has been pushed back to 2005 itself, with DreamWorks now aiming this film for sometime in 2006 ("The Hollywood Reporter"). (9/29/02) This film was originally announced as a possible summer, 2002 release, then for the summer of 2003, and then, for sometime in 2005. (8/10/03) With this movie now sitting on Aardman's back burner, with another project, 'Flushed Away' next up after Wallace and Gromit (which is due in 2005), it looks like this movie might not be released until after 2009 (if at all).
Meanwhile, I'm 100% sure the idea was conceived when working with the rats on Chicken Run, so please don't accuse Aardman of copying Pixar. The film was first announced in July 2002. It's Aardman's first all-CGI affair, and in a bold move, they've opted to actually animate the film over in the States, in Glendale, where Dreamworks already have a deep pool of CG talent from which to draw.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database
