OLD YELLER
TWO MOVIE COLLECTION

<i>Disney’s Classic Film “Old Yeller” and Its Sequel “Savage Sam”
Together On DVD</i>
</b></center>

BURBANK, Calif., July 29, 2005 - Walt Disney Home Entertainment presents the <b>OLD YELLER TWO
MOVIE COLLECTION DVD</b>, featuring “Old Yeller,” one of the greatest family films ever made, plus its
sequel “Savage Sam.” Fans will also find a full line-up of bonus features on Old Yeller including the
classic animated short “Bone Trouble” and a tour of the Disney Archives.

In <b>OLD YELLER</b>, a friendly stray dog finds his way to the frontier home of Jim Coates (<i>Davy Crockett</i>’s
Fess Parker), Katie Coates (Dorothy Maguire, <i>Swiss Family Robinson</i>) and their two boys, Travis
(Tommy Kirk, <i>The Shaggy Dog</i>, <i>Swiss Family Robinson</i>) and Arliss (Kevin Corcoran, <i>The Shaggy Dog</i>,
<i>Swiss Family Robinson</i>). When Jim leaves home on a cattle drive, the dog, named Old Yeller, proves to
be fiercely loyal, saving the boys from danger and protecting the family. When Old Yeller’s own life is
gravely threatened, the entire Coates family must pull together in a test of their love. A story of rare
beauty, <b>OLD YELLER</b> is classic entertainment for families everywhere.

<b>SAVAGE SAM</b>, the superb sequel to OLD YELLER, continues the story with returning cast members
Tommy Kirk and Kevin Corcoran, and introduces Old Yeller’s son, ‘Savage Sam.’ Brothers Travis (Kirk)
and Arliss (Corcoran) and their neighbor Lisbeth are kidnapped, and it’s up to Savage Sam to follow their
trail. Filled with action and excitement, SAVAGE SAM is Disney family adventure at its best. The film
also stars Brian Keith (Disney’s original <i>The Parent Trap</i>) and Jeff York (Disney’s <i>Davy Crockett and the
River Pirates</i>).

The <b>OLD YELLER TWO MOVIE COLLECTION</b> is available November 15 for <b>$29.99</b> (SRP) on

Thanks for the information and sorry for bumping a 4 month old topic but where exactly in the Yeller Timeline does Savage Sam take place. Meaning is Sam the same dog we see at the end of Old Yeller or is Sam more down the line.

Thanks Luke for all the pertinent information. I was going to pass on this, because I have the "Vault Disney" Old Yeller, but now I think I will keep it and also add this one to the collection. "Savage Sam" is a very good family adventure. A very good sequel.

I know it's not your fault, most likely the press release's, but I love that they decided to 16x9 enhance a 1:33 image...

Nice to see that all the bonus features are intact (unlike The Parent Tra, which loses a commentary). Don't see a reason to get this though, I've got the VD edition, and can easily buy Savage Sam elsewhere, unless they decided to put the one here in OAR and that 1:33 is just a typo (though I doubt it, even with BVHE's track record with press releases)

It was not a typo (well, the 16x9 enhanced part was their speak), but it is 1.33:1 on the DVD. Basically, it sounds like you've got to pay $8-$10 more now if you want the Old Yeller 2-disc set for a shoddy presentation of what sounds like an inferior sequel. But I'll have a full review in due time.

I've yet to see the sequel, but according to <a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/savagesam.html">Captain Hook's DVD review</a>, yes, Sam is Yeller's son.

Yes i noticed that, but it must take place a couple years after Old Yeller giving enough Time for Sam to grow.

Luke, the sequel is far from inferior to the original, but it lacks the warmth of "Old Yeller". "Sam" is Yeller's pup grown up and I thought the movie was a very good sequel, no matter what others say. It is hard to follow-up a "near perfect" movie like "Old Yeller", but they gave it a try and I think they succeeded.

Thanks Dvd Junkie that's all i wanted to know. As for the Overall Movie Savage Sam i think considering He dealt with a Whole pack of Wolves i think there were circa 10 even though none had Rabies, and a Fierce Wildcat or was it a Bobcat, Sam might have dealt with more danger then Yeller plus i can't forget the Indians.
