Beauty and the Beast--Used Question Also Snow White

Post by yearsago »

My local gamestop has a used BatB, for 24.99$ Should I get it at this price? Try to find it cheaper? Or wait for it to be re-released?

I have looked around at ebay, and seen new dvds going for 50$

ETA:I just found a snow white in my area as well, how much should I pay for that? (I found it after I talked to Gamestop guy)

Except...discs scratched? Inserts? Case good?

And Welcome to UD. :) Hope to see more posts from you! :eye:

Welcome to the forum.

I would try and find it cheaper around $16.99, that's what most UD'ers are paying for their copies from Gamestop.

I personally don't think any DVD is worth $50.00, but If you want it new, I would go for it. You most likely won't find it in any stores because BATB has been discontinued since January 2003.

Hope this helps! Post if you have any questions! :)

If its in good shape I would get it.

I recently found a copy at Gamestop for $12.99 (thats also their price online), but it was in horrible shape. Rips in the cover, scratches on the discs, and it smelled like smoke.

I didn't buy it.

Good deal, I saw a couple of leads at gamestops (between 1-3 units) at 3 different stores.

I also saw a snow white, and I have seen some here say it would be a minor miracle to find that?

Go for it, even though it can be found for $12.99 or $16.99

But the all-important question is: DOES IT HAVE THE SLIPCOVER? :P

<---Disney newbie.

My SO only liked the pixar movies..so we have all of those..

but I don't have any of the animated (aladdin, lion king etc etc)

Apparently aladdin and lion king are easy to find. LIttle mermaid comes out in PE next year.

So looks like snow white/BatB and sleeping beauty are going to be the difficult ones to find

what other titles are also difficult to find, that should be in my collection?

Let me direct you to this, which lists all the Animated Classics.

Then, I'll point you to this page, and whatever title has OOP (Out of Print) next to it, will be hardest to find.

Good Luck in your search!
From what I can remember, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White were the hardest to find. Actually, Tarzan Collector's Edition as well; you just have to be patient on EBay and trust people too.

So here is a update:

The Gamestop I went to sold it TODAY before I had gotten there. Apparently someone came in and bought it. Someone had sold a Crap load of disney titles..I saw lots of stuff like hercules, hunchback, There was a used Old school pinochooo there, lots of lizzie mcguires, pooh videos and other disney video animated films that I have not heard about before.

I grabbed a decent looking copy of the lion king, aladdin and Treasure planet.

Really upset no Beauty and the beast.

I try for snow white and Batb on monday at a different store.

You can also check out Gamestops website and it will tell you if there is a copy or not at the stores nearest you. I did that looking for Snow White. It stated that one store had 2-3 copies. I thought it had to be a misprint so I went to check it out and sure enough they had 3 copies so I got one. I paid $16.99 and it looks new. Good luck in your search.

You can always call first thing in the morning and get them to hold it for you- that's what I did for B&tB. I got mine at a Gamestop for $12.99- it was in AMAZING condition- looked like it had never been played, had all the inserts and had a pristine slipcover on it (better than slipcovers I've seen in stores!). I got snow white for $16.99 too. Pretty good condition. I also got the Fantasia Anthology in PERFECT condition for $34.99 (I'm talking brand new- looked like someone had gotten it as a gift and never watched it, coupon book was still sealed!). If you're diligent at checking the gamestop website (check in your area- best to check at night after 10 and call first thing in the morning) you really can find some htf OOP dvds for good prices.

^^I wish I was as lucky as your Minnieme. All the gamestop in my area sell DTV like lady and the tramp 2  . Also, I got the fantasia anthology for 35 dollars from fisherprice or something, and just recently they have gotten a lot of bad ratings. If the anthology doesn't show up in like a week, I'm filing an A-Z claim.

You didn't get it yet? Wow, that's probably a good sign for me. I tried to get another copy from them that they listed for $29.99, but my credit card kept declining, so they canceled the order.

If I have a hard time getting BatB, how ethical would it be to rent from a rental store..and just claim it lost? and pay hollywood the MSRP of the dvd?

It's their own policy- and they couldn't have thought people wouldn't abuse it!

I've never done it as the discs are usually pretty beat up at rental places, but I've heard of people doing it- although they usually go for pretty high prices.

Someone who worked at Blockbuster said that they HAVE to give you the original packaging if you do it too.

I haven't been that desperate for a dvd yet

I know you've posted quite a few times about gamestop- they do get stuff in everyday. It only took me 4 weeks of searching to find B&tB, Snow White and the Fantasia Anthology. If you're willing to wait- you could get a better copy for cheaper. It all depends on how bad you want the dvd right now!
