Muppets,a Mattress,& Marty: December (and muppet) covers
I think we need a page for the covers of the new muppet discs,Walt Disney Treasures, and never-aired-on-TV-but-still-made-for-TV movie Once Upon a Mattress with Carol Burnett & Tracey Ullman as I cant find pages inwhich these whould go. SO as you most likely saw http://www.ultimatedisney.com/coverart.html#novmup here you can see the amazing cover art for the new discs.

It depresses me that Disney doesn't own Muppets Take Manhattan as that's my 2nd favorite Muppet movie after the original. I guess I'll have to pick up the Columbia disc.
As for the covers, I really like them. They have a nice uniform look to them, which is rare considering this is Disney we're talking about. If Disneystore.com is correct, Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppet Treasure Island apparently duplicate the features found on their current discs, with no additions at all. The first two Muppet movies mention "Backstage Disney" (this could hold a number of things) and "Pepe Presents" profiles on Kermit (on The Muppet Movie disc) and Miss Piggy (on The Great Muppet Caper disc). Hopefully the "Backstage Disney" sections of both contain real featurettes and commentaries. I suppose asking for trailers would be too much, too.

I'm actually kinda torn about buying these.
On the one hand i am a huge muppet fan and love the idea of better picture quality and widescreen formats.
On the other hand, i am sick and tired of re-buying DVD's. There is so much out/coming out that i want, that i just don't want to spend the money getting stuff i already have because they decided to not do it right the first time.
On the flip side of that i always fear that everyone else is thinking like me and i'm sealing the products fate. The muppets (like the disney cartoon series releases) need results to keep going and if everyone thinks like me than they don't sell and everything goes away.
Ya know it almost sounds like a sickness doesnt it?

Well do we know if it is just new covers or a new widescreen version?Disneykid wrote:

Also I still dont know what Swap Fox and the other is about and the cover was not what I thought it was. I also think thay should not have put Alice on the cover of the one it should have been like Lambert or something. But they did Don, Spin & Marty right.I love thouse two.
I cant wait to see Once Upon a Mattress because I love Carol Burnett and I like the story as a child (

Well I hope they keep the animated menus from the last discs they were great. Also does anyone know if the Muppet Movie will be the 97 min UK cut or the 94 us cut like the sony disc? (here is more about the extended UK scenes from "Boober_Gorg" a member of the Muppet Central forum: http://forum.muppetcentral.com/showpost ... ostcount=9)

I agree with Edge. I need more money for all the DVDs I want to gRapuet this fall/winter! Hopefully I'll get lucky this Christmas like last Christmas. I got mostly DVDs last year so hopefully I have the same luck.
I have Muppet Christmas Carol on VHS ($1.99 at Boscovs!) and I taped Muppet Treasure Island off of the Disney Channel back in the day. I'd love to get the DVDs of all the Muppet movies! Though there are many Disney ones I want too!
This Once Upon a Mattress is interesting. From the main page it seems like it was a recent production. I don't think Disney would wait such a very long time to release this movie somehow. From the DVD cover it seems like it was made a while ago. When was this made? I've never seen a movie version of the Princess and the Pea. Hmmm...wonder why Disney hasn't done this animated yet or has any plans to do so. You think they'll tackle it after Rapunzel?

I think it was made (and was to air) last year or 2 years ago.Kram Nebuer wrote:

Wow there is so much to buy at the end of the year Treasures, Muppets, Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers, Gargoyles and DuckTales.
But I'm more excited about the Treasures for some reason.
Maybe we will see Gummi Bears and Wuzzles at the beginning of next year along with Lilo and Stitch:SE.

Have you been reading the threads?Zoltack wrote:What's up with this "Muppet Madness." I mean we got 5 threads on Muppets. Are they coming out with a new movie that I'm not aware of or something? I mean this is why I joined UD so I can get some info.
No, they aren't making a new movie (there are rumors of another Christmas movie, though). We're all excited that Disney is finally doing something with the Muppets property they bought last year. We have this "Muppet Madness" due to the fact of the following releases of DVDs:
~ The Muppet Show Season 1
~ The Muppets Wizard of Oz
~ SE's of:
1. The Muppet Movie
2. The Great Muppet Caper
3. Muppet Christmas Carol
4. Muppet Treasure Island
This thread is a thread about the cover art of the last two DVDs listed and the other DVD cover art Luke showed on the main page with the Muppet ones. We've had threads like this before in which we comment about the cover art and sometimes branch off with our enthusiasm for the upcoming DVD releases.
The other threads have to do with Muppet business matters, what Disney exactly owns with the Muppets, the possibility of future Muppet DVD releases (Muppet Babies, Muppet Specials) and other threads about the already released Muppet DVDs.
If you joined Ultimate Disney just for news on new theatrical movies, than you better look at the banner again. This is the Ultimate Guide to Disney DVDs. If you don't plan on discussing Disney DVDs, then maybe you'll find better luck in Off Topic.
lol, I hope I didn't sound mean. I was just confused at why you were confused. To answer your question again, the only new Muppet movie I've heard of is the aforementioned rumored Christmas movie.
