well, I was thinking, all the CGI are made by computer programs, math calculations, numbers, dots and stuff.
Math is not what we could say "A walk on the park" but it have its charm, so if this is used to made CGI is not that easy to find that special feeling that with an animated film, because is kind of more "artistic"

disney should make more 2d. i guess CG is just a fad. they focus only on animation but dont care about story. chicken little and valiant look horrible. and i bet CG movies are easier to make. 2d is frame by frame and cg they can move the charactors anywhere by a click of a mouse.

It took 4 years to make The Incredibles. I don't think 2d is easier than CGI. They're different types of animation. Don't forget some of the 2d movies have some CGI in it as well.

For example, the wildebeast stampede in The Lion King is CGI. Some animation in 2d can't be hand-drawn. The ballroom scene in Beauty And The Beast is also CGI. I think both 2d and CGI can co-exist with each other.

I'm a fan of traditional Disney animation, but since their output in that field has been pretty much mediocre lately, I really don't care much any more about the future of 2D animation. I'm happy about the greatness that can be found in the past.

NEW YORK -- CGI may be quickly taking over the world of animation, but Walt Disney StudiosWalt Disney Studios honcho Dick Cook showed reverence for more traditional toontoon works Monday at the studio's North American preempreem for helmer Hayao Miyazaki's surreal "Howl's Moving Castle."
"Miyazaki-san," said Cook, paying tribute to the Japanese anime master, "is a great artist as well as a master storyteller. His work is passionate and personal and like most great works of art, handmade."

I agree with Dick Cook. :P

I think CGI is just a trend I mean the 1st CGI movie really was toy story.. I think it made around 170million Since then we had hge hits like shrek and nemo but it seems like the trend is fading robots made only about as much as the Pacifier.

Hand Drawn will come back if the Disney CGI movies dont do well if chicken little and rapunzel flick only make around 75million it might make them go back to hand drawn

But to ansewer the ques I think it will come back someday

cause didnt they also say Mulan was supposed to be the last hand drawn film :?

I don't really think so. At least, I hope not. Sure, CG movies can be pretty cool, for example the Toy Story movies, but traditional 2D films can lend themselves to certain kinds of movies. A faerie tail, for instance, might be better portrayed by hand drawn animation than by CG. By the same token, certain other kinds of movies are better pulled off by CG. Adventure/Fantasy genre, for example. Titan A.E and Final Fantasy, come to mind. Although I hated FF, it DID look really cool. It all depends, I think, on the mood of the movie. Like I said, a serious, more adult oriented movie (not necessarily mature, just less lighthearted) might be better served by CG to make it more realistic, while a kid's movie are usually better by animation.

I really don't care much on weather it's 2D or 3D. Both types of animation are great in there own way. As long as they can get great stories.

But still 2D WILL RETURN SOMEDAY!!!
