Star Wars III: Thoughts & Reviews Thread (Spoilers!)

I'm so glad I saw it !! In France, it was released yesterday at midnight (well today, May 18th) ! It's really good, better than the 2 prevoous ones ! Characters's fates are well designed and totaly match Episode IV. We get to see what happens with the mall and it's to me, the coolest Star Wars movie out of the 6 ! It made me want to watch the old ones again !

I glad I saw it before the tons and millions of Americans that can't wait to see it, even the ones that are waiting for 3 weeks in front of the theaters! For once, in France something's big is happenning here before ! lol Even withouting reserving my ticket, I saw it Ok I stop lol

No, but jokes aside, really good movie and in France, not even 12 hours after its release it's already a hit and #1 at the box office !

I'm a fan of Star Wars, it's just that the prequels have really made me skeptical as to whether or not to see the third, even if a lot of people are really praising it as better than the first two.

You say you are a SW fan & are considering waiting for the dvd (6 months) or tv (at least a year) with the glowing reviews it's getting just because the first 2 prequels were subpar. I've got 2 broken legs & haven't left the house in a month & I'm going tomorrow. Dust the cobwebs off the ole wallet & spend $6 on a matinee or don't even pretend to be a fan. I haven't read a bad review yet & our French friend concurs with the critics. This is supposed to be the best SW since Empire Strikes Back.

I had the pleasure of seeing Revenge of the Sith last night and it was absolutely amazing! Best of the prequels by far and it may be my favorite out of all six. The action scenes were really good and relentless. It was strange seeing some scenes, scenes you've only imagined for years. Some of the scenes have been described or hinted at for years and to actually get to see them and see how it all happened was a great experience. If you are a real Star Wars fan you'll love this movie. I'm ready to go see it again!

Maerj - so I walked out of Episode 1(so bad it was only the third movie I ever got up and left in the middle of) and never saw Episode 2. Will Episode 3 work as a stand alone prequel to 4-6 if I see it.

yeay i saw it! however...it feels rather abrupt in explaining the origin of certain things but yoda and obi wan rocks! im disappointed padme didnt get to kick ass and keisha castle hughes was underused. but it did capture the feel of the old trilogy somehow or rather. i wish there'd be a director's extended version of this episode. it would work much much much better. and attack of the clones is still my favorite maybe because its more upbeat and u dont see the good guys losing to the sith. disappointed a bit i was, see it again i will.

Just because I don't feel like seeing a movie in theaters doesn't make me any less (or any fake) of a fan.

Yes, I like Star Wars. I like Star Trek better, but that doesn't really count towards anything. I like Star Wars enough to buy the movies if I enjoy them, but not enough to ingest every little facet of their universe. I don't read the books, I don't participate in online debates on whether or not such-and-such is true to Star Wars canon. I just enjoy watching the movies.

I love the original trilogy. I actually enjoyed SOME of the 1997 and 2004 "enhancements", though I prefer if Lucas would release the originals.

The prequels were okay for what they were, but in my opinion, not good at all. And even though ROTS is hailed as the new Empire Strikes Back, I still have a sinking feeling that it'll fall short for me. So I think I'll prefer to wait and rent it or buy it rather than get an expensive movie ticket to see it in a crowded room where everyone will cheer once the credits start rolling in and applauding once it's over.

And did you ever stop to think that MONEY for me would be an issue? I work for $6.25 an hour, and each week I'll get at least $100 to spend on myself (most of it I put away). I have to stretch the $100 on food, and DVDs, which I'd prefer to going to a movie. I only go to the movies if it's a movie on my high-priority list or if a bunch of friends and I decide on a whim to spend two hours in the dark, and right now, Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith is neither.

So don't even think about telling me to stop "pretending" to be a fan. You don't need to be a fanatic to be a fan.

It was absolutely <i>perfect</i>. It shed a new light on the original trilogy, the two previous prequels, and yes, even some of the changes he made for the special editions (though I still think the original cut should be available as an alternative). This movie was one of the finest I've ever seen. It really brought out emotion like the previous Star Wars films haven't, and it even topped them in action and cinematography. Most, if not all, of my respect for Lucas has been restored (not that I had lost nearly as much as most), which is what this movie was supposed to accomplish. It may be my favorite of all of them, but it will take me a few days for it to sink in before I can say that definitively. Sadly, it will fall prey to arbitrary and biased criticisms by many.

I saw it at midnight last night, had PERFECT seats, it was great!

Although it did leave some questions unanswered, so I think there should be a Star Wars III 1/2, LOL!

For the person who asked if it could work as a prequel alone... it could, but there were some things I didn't quite understand bc it had been so very long since I had rented I & II... I'm not fond of I & II, but I really liked III! So, you could just watch it w/o the others, but I & II does lead up to what happens in III.

Just got back from the noon showing in my first foray out of the house since breaking my left tibia & right femur a month ago. One of the best times I've ever had at the theater. Aaron worded it so perfectly I couldn't really add anything to it except to say that if you miss the BIG screen experience of seeing this boy have you missed something. I guess you can always see it in 3D on the big screen in 2012!!!

While I would gladly take up an offer of more Star Wars, I really feel like all my questions were answered... what are you still left wondering about?

Mr. Toad - I really recommend seeing the first two prequels in their entirety first. You might be able to still understand all the facts if you watch this prequel alone (well, the big ones anyways, but there are some things you'll miss, especially political details from EPII), but to really take in the emotional toll that Anakin's conversion is portrayed with, I think it helps to be familiar with his transition from young boy to where he is at the beginning of EPIII. You also might find, as I did, that some of what seemed to be weak moments in the others are somewhat, if not entirely, redeemed by EPIII.

Also, to echo with Bill said, I haven't left a theater that energized and overwhelmed by a theatrical experience in a long time.

I know exactly what your saying Escapay, that's one of the reasons why I don't go on vacations often, and don't go to the movies often, I like to buy dvds but other than that I save about 75% of my earnings.

I didn't see I or II in the theaters, I did see IV, V, VI when they were replayed in the late 90's though.

I only saw III in theaters bc I was invited to go w/some friends. I hate going to movies alone, I have, not much fun.

The question unanswered for me was...

Hans Solo, I think they could have had at least of glimpse of him, somewhere... why/how/whom, etc. the plans get stolen in the beginning of IV... just, little stuff. I think his going to the darkside, could have been drawn out a bit longer, but otherwise, the movie was very complete and I really, really enjoyed it!

I haven't seen the movie but remember Episode 4 took place years after Episode 3. Because in that movie I heard Luke and Leia were infants. In episode 4 they're adults(or teenagers).
