I'm talking about regular movies.
I'd understand if it is obvious that a new special edition is coming out. But some movies are either already very good in the format and others are not extremely popular or mediocre as to go OOP.
Examples:
Both Blair Witch movies
Both Ghostbusters movies.
The Prophecy trilogy.
Why do DVDs go OOP?

But for example, the movies I mentioned are not meant to get a new edition in the near future.RJKD23 wrote:To make EBAY sellers rich!![]()
Because they end up releasing a better edition in the future "anniversary edition" or BOX SET!, they have to get rid of the first (crappy, sometimes) edition and declare it OOP so many people can buy it!
I'm talking about these kind of situations. Movies that go OOP for no reason.

Because it's impractical for shops to carry thousands of DVDs, and it's impossible for the DVD factories to make new ones when the old supply runs out - they're booked to capacity making all the new DVDs.
So, a studio will rest a title for a year or two, with the intent of building up anticipation of a new release at a future date.
