Vault Disney Collection?

Post by sealightbreeze »

I have a question about two movies I saw today. I saw polyanna and the original parent Trap at Best Buy. On their cover, they said the "vault Disney collection" what exactly does this mean? Does this mean that they are going back into the vault soon? :?

No, it not going in the vault soon.
It's just a banner that Disney labels the films.
Example, Platinum Edition, Special Edition, Gold Collection, etc...

Hi

Post by Disney Guru »

As dear ole MMP, just wisely stated.

That is just the name of the collection that the 2 dvds are in.

Sadly though that great and grand Vault Disney Collection is burned out

No more titles are coming anytime soon to that great lil ole Vault Disney Collection.

RIP Vault Disney

Click on the subject "Release Types" in the information at the top of the UltimateDisney.com page and it will give you more information on the Vault Disney releases.

As many people here own the Vault Disney DVDs, are they worth a buy?

Most definitely, and it's such a shame that Disney has scaled back on releasing wonderful two-disc sets like Vault Disney. Had it not been an anniversary edition, Mary Poppins would have fit well in the Vault Disney collection, as would a nice 2-disc of Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

How many Vault Disney movies are there? I only saw the two: Polyanna, and the original Parent Trap. I wish that they all had 2 disc sets for the Disney movies

Then it was made for the "Vault Disney Collection" but before it was finished the studio must have decided to quit that collection and changed the cover.

Yes, the 20K leagues under the sea 2-disc set was in process before they sadly decided to abandon the "vault disney" line. Also, the 2-disc of Herbie the Love Bug has a menu/special feature set up that is like the vault disney discs. They were both slated to be vault disney titles but then were released without that label on the package. Both are great sets, imho.

Also, the one-disc versions of escape to witch mountain, return to witch mountain, and the apple dumpling gang were set to be released under the vault disney line, and they are nice single discs in terms of bonus features.

I really wish they'd kept up with it.

All five of the Vault movies(if you include 20,000) are fantastic movies. The two I own Swiss Family Robinson and Pollyanna are really fantastic treatements. Good transfers and sound and really nice extras. Thumbs up.

On a slightly related note, did the Vault Disney Collection flop?

I may go and import one of these DVDs, most probably Pollyanna. :)

Wonder - after I bought two they put the whole set of four out for only about $50 US. If you can find that, all four movies are worth buying together(basically buy two, get two free).

Is there a comprehensive list of all time sales for DVD anywhere?

Though only 4 DVDs bear the "Vault Disney" name, there are 10 releases which match the format (3 are pared down to a single-disc, unfortunately):

The only one I have is "Old Yeller".

I plan on getting the others in time.

I like the 2-disc set's?

They should have kept adding to Vault Disney!

I think alot of titles would have fit well?

Oh Well...

I own The Parent Trap and it's a nice issue. I also want Pollyanna and Swiss Family Robinson. I'm not too interested in Old Yeller. I never cared for that movie. :P
