Hey, I'm not against cliffhanger endings. Some of my favorite movies have them. To me, if that spyglass subplot was supposed to be a cliffhanger, it was poorly done. The best kind of cliffhangers are the kind that are resolved just enough to allow the movie to stand on its own, but still leave the audience wanting to learn more. The spyglass mystery was far too slight - it left me, not really wanting to learn more, but rather just being puzzled and feeling like the movie seemed unfinished.awallaceunc wrote:Keep in mind that this was just the first of a series of films. While I haven't read the books (I'm starting to), I'm guessing that some things are meant to be left a mystery for now.
Besides, what if this is the only movie they make? The film performed moderately well at the box office, and will end up with around $120 million, but is that enough for them to make another? Will Jim Carrey even want to return?
