Not designated as a Platinum, no. But it's what BestBuy.com is showing. No bigger image than I can find. :?

Oooh, I like that one a lot more than the original DVD cover; I hope it's final. :D

It's a great cover, I have to admit. But the UK Collector's Edition (proud owner) has a much more artistic style to it. ;)

I have to agree. I like the UK one alot, but perhaps the US one will grow on me.

Perhaps it will, but why wait for the US release when the UK Collector's Edition's already out? I mean; there's no difference in extras: It's all the same according to dvdcompare, and they should know. The UK CE even has a DTS track which isn't confirmed for the US release yet.

Why wait? Because not all of us are blessed with region free DVD players. :P

The US release has 3 trailers - all missing from the UK (and French, German and Japanese) releases.

It also has a 4:3 transfer of the film. Not appealing to all I'll admit, but useful for those who want to make their own Widescreen-Full Screen comparisons.

2099net: I'm sure you have the Collector's Edition as well? Will you buy the US Special Edition, when released? On accaunt of a couple of trailers and a Fullscreen version? I'm not sure that I will. Convince me that it's worth it.

Wow! That's beautiful! Although it is kind of the same cover as the UK CE but with a purple touch to it.

I'm not the best person to ask. I've recently decided to collect as many different Disney international collectors DVDs as I can. :) I've the French, UK (and US on order).

However, no it's probably not worth buying the R1 if you already have one of the current 2 disc international releases. But the lack of trailers does annoy me - there's no reason for it (the French 2 disc "Peter Pan" has no trailers either).

The existing releases seem to have a flawed transfer, with colour shimmering. While its an unknown quantity at this time, I suspect the R1 will also suffer from this fault, but perhaps not. One possible reason to go for R1.

Also anyone waiting would probably be better waiting for R1 as it will include the trailers. The DTS sound is not really an issue for me (it's an old film and I have no amp, let alone a DTS compatible one).

Personally while not a big "PAL - NTSC" advocate, I do feel that the additional definition of a PAL transfer is more than noticable with animation (while I feel its almost undetectable with most live action films on my medium spec television). That's why I decided to buy the French "Roger Rabbit" in addition to my R1 set. So ultimately the R2 PAL version may have the better picture and 98% of the supplements.

The choice is yours, but if this release isn't going to be a Platinum branded release (the new cover would seem to indicate that) it's probably worth waiting, as any future R1 Platinum release may have even more supplements added!

Eh, the US cover still looks cheap - kinda like those Good times releases. Still, an improvement over the first cover.

I was lucky enough to be ale to pick up the UK copy of this, and it is definitely the classiest box on my Disney shelf (yes, I have a Disney shelf. Two now! I'm soooo lame  ).

I wouldn't repurchase this for two reasons: Firstly, I can't afford to start rebuying stuff I already have (although I did buy A Bug's Life twice). Secondly, there isn't really anything on the US DVD that isn't on the UK copy to justify it. I could justify buying Bug's again because of the wealth of supplemental features. But there isn't anything more on the US DVD (apart from the trailers?) to warrant a repurchase only 6 months after the first purchase.

And the cover is nicer :P Hee hee hee....

Well I kinda like the new cover, but the cover I like the most is the UK one. The only thing I really dont like is that Maleficent isnt there :x (in her human form at least) she is the baddest disney villian so far  and deserve to be in the cover instead of Prince Phillip twice.

Maybe... I think that would be a possibility too...

But I think we can only wait until disney announces some details. time will tell...

the new UK cover still look too childish with lots of colors etc...
The UK and French have an adult touch that makes the difference.
