I have two different Amelie posters. One is red-colored, with Amelie sitting in bed, looking at the photo album she found ... another is green and has stars. And then I have a Lilo & Stitch poster, but it's just Stitch. It says Experiment 626 ... and at the bottom, says, "Meega na la queesta." I got that one at Wal-Mart ... back in 2002, when the film came out. I got the Amelie posters at poster sales here at school.
Meega na la queesta.

Nevermind! I found it from my offline history pages!Paka wrote:Awww... where's my verbose essay on the Philosopher's Stone poster?awallaceunc wrote:Restructured Posts...

I usually don't care for movie posters because they're often quite banal and way too literal. You see a lot of focus on "star power" in them; hence the "floating head syndrome" - that annoying trend where faces of the A-list actor(s) are blown up and prominently featured against some kind of backdrop. It kinda creates an implication that the heads are just floating in empty air. It's meant to attract the unwashed masses to the movie by advertizing its big-time actors, but creates a lousy look and really poor composition to those of us with half a brain cell. e_e
The only poster I've found thus far that featured both 1) a composition that I liked, and 2) a film I was interested in, is this Philosopher's Stone poster. It creates a great "overall" feeling for the film - Harry, at the very beginning of his journey, leaving his old life forever, accompanied by Hagrid. I love that you don't see any faces - though the characters are still recognizable, a faceless (and heaven forbid, abstract) poster is a rare thing in promotional art these days. The backdrop of Hogwarts Express, and of course the school, are also nicely iconic. I coulda done without the generic "Journey beyond your imagination." tagline, but that's a minor quibble.
So, yeah - that's the only movie poster I have. Anyhoo, better cut this off here before it becomes too much of a boring, verbose essay - on a dang poster.
Life often leaves us standing bare, naked and dejected with a lost opportunity. Over the bleached bones and jumbled residues of numerous civilizations are written the pathetic words: "Too late."

Help!
I know that with some reproductions you buy they come in Plastic Sleeves with the thing on the back to attach to the wall. Where do you buy those clear plastic poster hangers that you slide the poster in ?

oh posters. I probably have to many. 2 that come to mind are The Island At The Top Of The World and one of Sleeping Beauty that a kind theater manager gave me when I was a kid (He also gave me the one from A Clockwork Orange
)
One thing I have to say is that not having the poster double printed (front/back) isn't always a way to determine that the poster is not original or not.
The double printing is done so that a poster can work both as a reflective print (light falling on it, like during the day) and a transmisive print (like at night, being illuminated from behind, like a slide or transparency in a light box/illuminator) If it isn't double printed (double density) a poster looks faded when illuminated from behind cus the light passes though the ink once so the ink looks less dense (In a normal reflective poster or print, the light reflected from it passes the ink twice: once falling on it and once more being bounced back from the white backing on its way to the eye).
Since theaters started using lightboxes behind the posters, they started double printing those meant for transmissive viewing at night (or indoors) hence the double density so they look deeply saturated and contrasty when lit from behind instead of faded. They can even look better that way too than a reflective only poster like a slide is better than a print.
So a poster can be only single printed and STILL be an original, specially older posters from when theaters didnt use the lighboxes like they do now.

Well the posters that are not on display (and i have a lot of them including comic book character posters and more arcane stuff) are inside a couple of huge cardboard "bookcovers" which i saved from the biggest boxes the posters were shipped (flat) into the store from DiamondComics distributors
For the far away future they will be probably scanned and set on OLED wall paper

Oh I was about to say the way I pictured I pictured all the wall and ceiling covered with posters.cj wrote:Yes! I have a very big wall.Disneyfan wrote:

Pretty impressive!Actually, I only keep seven of them up all the time, and I have one front-loading poster frame that allows me to easily to change posters (which I do about once a week). The rest of the posters are stored rolled in plastic poster sleeves and in three large gift wrapping bins under a bed.
