Any Mariah Carey fans out there?
I was just wondering because her new album comes out soon and wanted to know if anyone else here is into her, or WAS into her!
i'm not a HUGGE fan, but I like her music. I think I was first hooked when I heard..Hero
with her new song, it's good...but jermaine dupri...MAN! i find him annoying.
"uh, yea, uh, uh, yea, uh, yea" (sorry, I'm just thinking of his past songs he's done with other artists)

Hi
I am not a huge fan, but I like her. She has an ok voice, and her acting is ok.

I used to be a very big fan of Mariah's. I own all of her albums from her debut through #1s (or Rainbow, whichever is more recent)... Glitter is the first I didn't buy. Her Christmas album is a staple of the season. Starting with Butterfly, her music started to become more R&B, and now it's mediocre gangsta pop/rap (or at least that's what makes the radio), unfortunately. I wish she'd flash that amazing voice of her's more often.
I LOVE her old music, though- still some of my favorite music to listen to. She has some classic 90s pop... I'd buy her 2-disc Greatest Hits, but I already have almost all the songs. I might pick up some of her DVDs some day.
If you're as big a fan of Mariah's as I am of Amy's, you might be interested to know that I have the 1991 episode of Oprah on DVD in which Amy & Mariah were featured on a "Grammys Divas with Love Ballads" special or something like that in which the two traded off singing their songs and then did a joint interview (and were then joined by Aaron Neville
), as well as that year's Grammy show where both Amy & Mariah were repeatedly screwed by Bonnie Raitt (nothing against Bonnie).

Not rude at all. Amy Grant is the singer/songwriter (and occasional actress) that you see in various pictures as my avatar. As a teenager, she began the Contemporary Christian Music genre where she was a huge hit and then also became a pop artist in the mid-80s, had very big success in the pop scene throughout the 1990s (with Baby Baby probably being her biggest hit) and some on the country scene too. She is married to country star Vince Gill. She is CCM/gospel's best-selling artist and is among the best-selling musical artists in history and continues to have success in Christian, Pop, and Country music. So there's a little bio.lolopimp wrote:Who's Amy?? Sorry for being rude.

lolopimp: the song you are refering to is One Sweet Day, and its actually the first song that I ever heard of Mariah's. Its is very hot.
TheLittleMerman: did you listen to Charmbracelet? although not as good as say Daydream or Butterfly it is certainly a great record, Its on par with say Rainbow.
ZOOMBOOM0688: Charmbracelet is one of my favorite CD's of hers, its most definitely worth looking into, standout songs are: I Only Wanted, Clown (about eminem, if you enoy looking into things), Through the Rain, and Bringin' on the Heartbreak (although the whole album is awesome IMO).
MickeyMousePal: I am right there with you, I have supported her ever since I could remember. I own everything shes released, including Glitter.

Aaron- I too am not a fan of the gangsta pop/rap shes been doing lately, I am a sucker for ballads myself, and I too wish she would let her tremendous talent shine instead of having rappers collaborate on every other song. That being said, some songs are good with rappers like "Breakdown" because its a ballad and has some rap at the end.
Amy Grant-wise I've only heard "Baby, Baby" and that's it, I know its sad. Shes a great singer though.
As a side note- I wish that everyone would forget about the whole Glitter incident, because in actuality it was a Soundtrack and not an actual Mariah Carey release. Although it says Mariah Carey-Glitter on the spine, I believe it refers to the fact that it was a soundtrack to the movie Glitter and the sole artist was Mariah.

What's your favorite Mariah album? That's a tough call for me... probably Music Box or Daydream (not counting #1s, because it's awesome). Her self-titled debut is up there, too. I wasn't a big fan of Emotions.
