I actually didn't think I would chuckle as much as I did. The puddle "line" is actually kind of clever. Perhaps not the best song, but fun.

In Summer also doesn't have the same effect when you view it alone as it does when you view it along with the rest of the movie. The film does get pretty tragic, and so having this naive snowman singing at you makes you laugh more than you think you should, because of the contrast. It also, at least for me, is comic relief done right. It actually made me feel a little better about the pretty emotional/intense events I just watched unfold.

And again, the puddle line is pretty witty, and got even got audience participation in my showing!

I don't know. I went into frozen with really high expectations. I also knew to keep my mind open with Olaf and not worry too much about how he affects the seriousness of the movie. Whether you like him or not, he is kinda necessary, and to me it was better to sit there enjoying and laughing at him, rather than hating every time he comes on screen. It's easy to like him too, just because of how naive he is. And, he does serve as a pretty important link between Elsa and Anna, which is great. What I'm saying is, to the people who really don't like Olaf: it could have been much worse.

To be honest, I wasn't impressed. Although I wasn't expecting much of the song itself, I found the sequence to be awkward. Heck, even more awkward than "A Guy Like You" in "Hunchback".

Well I was. :P I think "In Summer" is a delightfully funny song with a nice performance by Josh Gad, and it's serves a purpose better than "A Guy Like You" did, that is a song that should've been cut.

I agree that "A Guy Like You" should have been cut. Unlike Frozen, HOTD's story is way too dark to have side characters singing a goofy song about how nobody wouldn't like a guy like Quasimodo (just to get his hopes up only to be crushed later!). Plus, that song came directly after one of the darkest songs in a Disney movie, Hellfire. Talk about a jarring tonal shift!

The song was quite cute - as a little comedy interlude, it was very sweet.

It’s a funny sequence. I also like the transitions between the shots, like when it changes from Olaf walking on a field to the ice cubes in a glass in the shape of his body or when he’s floating on the sea which turns into the sky and he goes down.

By the way, the screenplay of Frozen is no longer available on the Disney Awards website.

Did anyone else get a Mary Blair vibe at certain points in that sequence? Like that bit where he's sailing on the boat, I keep thinking of Baia from The Three Caballeros.
