More info!
Win or Lose, Pixar’s first-ever original long-form animated series, debuts on Disney+ in 2023. It follows a coed middle school softball team in the week leading up to their championship game. Each 20-minute episode highlights the perspective of a different character and explores the drama of bad calls made on and off the field. Written and directed by story artists Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates, and produced by David Lally, Win or Lose is a comedy about love, rivalry and the challenges we all face in our struggle to win at life.

Source: https://dmedmedia.disney.com/news/disne ... y-plus-dayDirectors Michael Yates and Carrie Hobson reveal concept art for Pixar’s first-ever original long-form animated series “Win or Lose,” coming to Disney+ in 2023. Each 20-minute episode of “Win or Lose” highlights the perspective of a different character as a middle school coed softball team prepares for their championship game.
Re: Win or Lose (TV Series)
Some concept art was also shown in the Pixar special and the directors talked a bit about the show:
Michael Yates: Win or Lose follows a middle school co-ed softball team throughout one week leading up to the big championship game. Each episode follows a different character as we go through the same week.
Carrie Hobson: And each episode puts you into the shoes of that character using animation. So, we really feel what it's like to experience life.
Yates: Yeah, like what it's like when you're coach Dad. It's just, like, the biggest thing in your whole world.
Hobson: Or when you're up to bat and, you know, you're melting with anxiety.
Yates: Or you're the little brother at the game and you're just bored out of your mind. You have to create your own world.
Hobson: Or when you're the star player and you make that game-winning catch, you feel like you're on top of the world.

Re: Win or Lose (TV Series)
Thanks for providing the info from the special, D82. I don't find the concept intriguing and the fact it's going to be a bunch of unrelated episodes with little to no serialization makes me even less interested in it.
Re: Win or Lose (TV Series)
I can't say I'm very excited for this series either. When it was presented at Disney Investor Day, I understood that each episode would show the same event from the perspectives of different characters and that seemed more interesting to me, but apparently it's just that each episode will focus on a different member of the team. Also, I'm not much into sports, especially team sports, and sometimes in movies of this genre I don't get what's happening as I don't know the rules of some of these sports well. Especially, baseball or rugby, which are not popular here in Spain. But do I like some sports movies and maybe this show will be good and I'll enjoy it too. We'll see.

Re: Win or Lose (TV Series)
The December 11 post above from rodrigo_ca + the November 12 post from Sotiris say that each episode will be 20 minutes.
Did we all just think that each episode would be the same events retold? I think we all just thought the same thing! I feel as you do, D82- not a team sports fan but I like some sports films. Pixar's never let me down so of course I will give this a chance!

I'm glad I wasn't the only one. I guess it's the way Pete Docter described it back then what made us think that.blackcauldron85 wrote:Did we all just think that each episode would be the same events retold? I think we all just thought the same thing!
I usually like everything Pixar does too, so I'll definitely give it a chance as well. I don't like car racing either and Cars is one of my favorite Pixar films, so who knows; I might end up loving this series too. Also, another reason I'm not a big fan of sports films is that they all tend to be very similar, but this series looks a bit different and that's also positive.blackcauldron85 wrote:I feel as you do, D82- not a team sports fan but I like some sports films. Re: Win or Lose
First footage from Pixar's Win Or Lose in the spot of What's Coming in 2023 to Disney+: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ztN90jb9wM.
BTW, I was lucky enough to see the first footage from Win Or Lose at D23 along with seeing the announcement of Will Forte voicing the coach of the Pickles named Dan, along with seeing the footage of characters suiting up in "emotional armor", seeing crazy melding realities of the baseball players to show their feelings during the moment the play in each basketball game, scored to the music of "We Will Rock You" by Queen.
And I got some more information about Win Or Lose at D23 when I got the poster signed by it's creators, writers, and directors Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates.
They said Win Or Lose's first (?) season will be 8 episodes long varying and ranging from runtimes of 16 and 25 minutes (not counting the foreign or end credits), each kid's voice actor/actress is under wraps to reflect the personalities of their characters.

This actually looks promising, at least visually.
