Maui is a freak'n god. He's powerful, hence why he's bulky. He moves Islands, lifts the sky, and is a fisherman. He's not an athlete, like the other guys. He eats and is powerful. That's it.
It's almost a guarantee that it's gonna win the Oscar. It's the most critically acclaimed animated movie since "Toy Story 3." Plus the competition doesn't look as strong going forward, even though some the movies look pretty good.
I saw "How to Train Your Dragon 2" the other day and I really think it has the strongest chance of winning. It is truly a spectacular movie that is legitimately better than the first. It's dark, emotional deep, and filled with a great story and has amazing action.
Spike Lee's "Oldboy." Terrible movie with poor dialogue, cringe worthy acting, and just lackluster directing. However, I do like the last 30mins or so, but the rest of the movie left me extremely bored, 2/5. Probably my least favorite movie of the year.
Here's my review of the film: http://theconnoisseurreviews.tumblr.com/post/68690250741/frozen-review "Frozen" is a fantastic story about two sisters and the power of the love between them. It is about letting go, being yourself, and having faith in someone even though they don’t have faith...
Here's my SPOILER FREE review of the film. http://theconnoisseurreviews.tumblr.com/post/67808512149/the-hunger-games-catching-fire-review "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" picks up exactly where the last film left off, continuing the sparks of rebellion. This film takes everything that was...
I think it's a weak year because it had to follow 2009 and 2010, probably the best years ever. Then 2012 followed, which was a really good year. So 2011, was sandwiched between some of the best years of animation and in perspective none of those films are considered ever in talks of great animated f...
Personally, I feel like this is a weak year for animation. Not as week as 2011, but pretty close. Not having seen the foreign films, the ones that came out in the states so far are solid. They don't reach the highs of Years prior. Luckily, none of them are bad movies. The best of the year so far is ...
"You'll Be In My Heart" always without a doubt brings tears to my eyes. And when I hear with its accompanying animation, I lose my cookies. Others will include: "If I Never Knew You" "Beauty and the Beast" "A Whole New World" "I See the Light" "...
Saw the trailer and I gotta say, I'm even more excited now than I was before. Tom Hanks looks the part and he's an amazing actor. Emma Thompson will do great as Mrs. Travers and it's mostly her story. The score is being done my Thomas Newman and he is one of the best composers out there. I felt like...
Here are my thoughts on the film: http://theconnoisseurreviews.tumblr.com/post/53789618234/monsters-university-review “Monsters University” has a simple and quite predictable story, as we already know that Mike and Sully will end up as friends at the end. However, the journey is more important than ...
I have seen every episode from the beginning. This past month, I marathoned through the first, second, and third season. The second being my favorite because that's where a lot of character development happens. I mean don't get me wrong, I like the third season, but it's just filled with disappointm...
Here's my thoughts on Season 3: http://theconnoisseurreviews.tumblr.com/post/47095627073/the-walking-dead-season-3-thoughts Another season of the highly acclaimed “The Walking Dead” has come and gone. When it comes to the though provoking themes of the series, they’re mostly kept intact. As it still...
I recently watched "Amadeus," it's a really loud and in your face movie, but it is well acted especially the guy who plays Soliari. It's very punk and the costumes and sets are grand. It'squite funny the script is incredibly strong.
"Anastasia" is by far the better of the two movies. It has gorgeous animation, songs that are not only catchy, but that have lyrical depth, and character that are fun and relateable. "Once Upon a December," and "Journey to the Past" are both hauntingly great songs. Whil...
Wow, I had no idea so many folks around here hated the first movie. Am I really the only one here who is excited about another? I have no idea if it will happen, but I really want to see all five books get turned into films. No, your not alone on this. While far from cinema gold, it is a film that ...
"Safety Not Guaranteed" review here http://theconnoisseurreviews.tumblr.com/post/46661515597/safety-not-guaranteed-review “Safety Not Guaranteed” is a fairly quiet and genuine film about taking chances. That life should be taken advantage to its full potential, whether it be with an idea o...
"42" Definitely looks like the movie to see in April. Plus, I believe this is gonna be an early Oscar favorite. "Oblivion" looks good too, but every new trailer I see of it makes me want to see it less. And of course "Jurassic Park" the rest looks okay or incredible uni...
It's bad enough Kristen Stewart won twice but I am shocked there were kids who actually saw Journey 2. I don't think anyone actually did, but kids seem to really like The Rock for whatever reason. Actually Journey 2 did quite well at the box-office and The Rock is very popular among kids and adults...
Lately I've been loving Dreamworks films more because of their variety of film composers. The most recent ones being Silvestri's Crood score and Desplat's Rise of the Guardians. Being a huge fan of musical scores, their variety of composers is an advantage to Pixar always using Giacchino. (Note: I ...
