Re: Favorite Disney Animated Classic from the 40s?

Wondy , some of your descriptions appear to have been deleted, or cut off in some way! I'm dying to know what else you have to say about Saludos Amigos . (Mostly because I suspect I will agree. :P ) And please come back more often! ♥️ Ooops, don't know what happened there. Fixed in any case. :)

Re: Are you a Disney Adult?

That definition of the Disney Adult is an exaggeration and a stereotype, but as with many a caricature, I think that there's definitely some truth in there. I am definitely a Disney fan, but I wouldn't come close to fitting that definition of a Disney Adult, mostly because I have a lot more interest...

Re: Chip 'n' Dale: Rescue Rangers (Live-Action)

What struck me most about the trailer is that it was just really chaotic. I'm not extremely outraged, but watching the trailer honestly felt like a weird dream where all these pop culture references come crashing together in a completely surreal and incohesive way. I also find the animation a bit st...

Sotiris wrote:Ron Clements named her after the female character Ariel in Footloose which was spelled the same.
That's interesting. I'd assumed that they'd named her after the sprite Ariel in Shakespeare's The Tempest (a role which has alternately been played by men and women).

Re: Disney and Copyrights/Public Domain

The books are going into public domain this year, not the Disney films. Indeed. And it's only the USA that this applies to. In the UK and much of Europe, the original novel of Bambi is already in the public domain, while Winnie the Pooh is still a few years away from going into the public domain (B...

Re: [disney]How Do You Decorate for Christmas?[/disney]

I think, to some extent, I've always made a loose association between Disney and Christmas. There are, of course, a number of Disney films with Christmas themes or scenes, but my association of fantasy and fairy tales with Christmas (the whole Santa mythology, the British pantomime tradition) means ...

Re: Behind the Attraction

I've watched a few episodes of Behind the Attraction . It's clearly aimed at a more general family audience than The Imagineering Story , which is pretty much a serious and thorough documentary series aimed at adult Disney fans. I agree that the narrator on this could get annoying at times (definite...

Re: Has Disney+ caused people to dump their Disney DVDs/BR?

I've generally stopped buying DVDs and Blu-Rays as my priorities have shifted in life and releases have been more barren as streaming becomes more commonplace. When it comes to Disney films, I double dipped on some titles but skipped others due to them either being too much of a hassle to source (Di...

Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)

First of all, I still miss a lot of classic cartoon features: just a handful of Silly Symphonies for instance; and why are there no more classic shorts of Mickey, Donald and the gang? I imagine part of the issue is the time it takes to restore everything, and wanting to spread things out. I think t...

Re: Would Pixar have been as successful without Disney?

Without Disney's marketing machine and name recognition, I think that they would have at least had a slower start at success. I'm sure there would still have been some buzz surrounding their first animated feature film if they had made one with another major studio simply due to the fact that they w...

Re: Cinderella Discussion

This is a new thing, isn’t it? Disney actively observing their films’ anniversaries? In the past, they’d push out a DVD and maybe some merchandise to coincide specifically with that, but this feels different. Now Disney creates these anniversary logos and there are year-long tie in’s at the parks w...

Re: List of abandoned projects

I didn't know Walt wanted to adapt T.S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats. Q: You say that Walt Disney, the Walt Disney Studios, tried to secure these poems. Andrew Lloyd Webber : Many years ago, I understand, from his widow who’s still alive, that Walt Disney wanted to make them as a fil...

Monae’s artist collective Wondaland is also “reinventing” a track from the original 1955 animated movie, individuals close to the project said. That would be “The Siamese Cat Song,” originally recorded by Peggy Lee for the feline duo Si and Am in the animated version. Those characters and their fam...

Re: Jim Cummings Accused of Sexual Assault

In the words of Winnie the Pooh: oh bother.

What an absolutely awful scenario. I obviously feel for his ex, but the people I think I feel for the most in this whole situation are their children – no child should have to endure such levels of dysfunctionality as this.

Re: Is it a goal for Pixar to make people cry?

Sentimentality does sell, and I think the staff at Pixar have realised this. Ultimately, I think the issue is perhaps more Pixar being a bit conservative with their storytelling and filmmaking as of late (along with the rest of Hollywood, to be honest) more than anybody being cynically manipulative ...

Re: Disney Animation on Blu-ray in 2018

Also wonder if they're splitting Fun and Fancy Free and The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad onto separate discs, or if they'll use the same two-movie disc that has both of them (plus The Reluctant Dragon ) together. And did the UK get separate releases for The Rescuers and The Rescuers Down Unde...
