Oh come on people... this is a 2 frame encoding error. This is not some plot by Disney to make everyone go out and buy the next version in 7 years. Trust me, there are VERY few people who would be the least bit concerned about this. Granted, I happen to be one of them, but let's not make this into a...

I really can't believe the hubris of the last few DVD posts. "I don't find Blu-ray to be worthy so obviously anyone who does is an idiot." Hubris? Excuse me, but have you read the last two pages of this thread? Wasn't that one big bashing of dvd and the people who still enjoy it? It's oka...

Again... why is it that those of us who enjoy Blu-ray are supposedly foolish slaves to marketing campaigns? Is it not ok for me to decide when an upgrade is worth it and when it is not? Should we simply burn all artwork that you don't enjoy because it's obviously worthless? I really can't believe t...

If you love Disney films why would you not love a vastly improved version of them that comes with the version you buy? Even if you don't have a Blu-ray player now, you likely will at some point. They are already available in the $100 range quite often. Oh, if I wanted, I would have 3 of them. I hav...

The real reason I revived this thread was to express my disappointment with this release. Considering this is the premier "Diamond Edition", I was expecting a lot. And I feel quite disappointed. No Cine-Explore track? No new commentary? What a waste. Although I do appreciate the inclusion ...

Disney has been so erratic with what gets holographic disc art and what gets regular disc art when it comes to Blu-Ray. Perhaps the initial pressing was done holographic but more recent copies are regular? By saying "holographic", are you guys referring to the disc art being kind of blurr...

If it only comes in a DVD-BluRay combo pack, I'll have to go through the trouble of ritually burning the BluRay. Hmmm... that seems illogical. If you love Disney films why would you not love a vastly improved version of them that comes with the version you buy? Even if you don't have a Blu-ray play...

Actually, I believe Justice League was shown from the beginning in widescreen for the first season, but the widescreen showings debuted a few days after each was shown fullscreen and in a later timeslot. (at least that's what I remember from my recordings at the time) And, from what I have read, tha...

OK, my friend went to Mexico last week and was able to find this for me. In fact, he brought me 4 extra copies that I have started to put up on eBay. Unbelieveable. Looks just amazing! And I was surprised to see how substantial the bonus features are. There is an all new half hour HD documentary (i...

@podman: The Great Mouse Detective is boasting a new restoration though. That's true... though I guess it remains to be seen how good it is. I highly doubt it will look as well restored as Dumbo or Snow White though. And I really doubt there will be a commentary or any kind of substantial ne...

The thing that's so exciting to me about this release is the potential it holds for future non-Diamond Blu-ray releases. I really hope that many of the smaller films like Robin Hood, Ichabod and Mr. Toad, The Rescuers, etc will finally receive top notch restorations and bonus features. I'm a big fan...

Your points are well taken.

Perhaps I will give the Most Wanted Edition another try and see if I am "overremembering" the issues I had with it.

But at least everyone can agree that hopefully Disney will provide both options in the future.

Definitely good points on Disney and their attitude towards television. So that's not the reason. Doesn't mean there isn't another, of course. And they clearly were thinking about television presentation in some way or form, or else they simply would have animated them in widescreen only in the firs...

BTW, I should have made clear that regardless of my feelings I'm not hoping to derail anyone's pursuit of the "correct" aspect ratios. Just wanted to remind people that there is much debate as to what "correct" really means in these cases. Hopefully with future releases they will...

I would love to see a poll taken on framing preference for movies like Robin Hood, The Jungle Book, and Aristocats. But it would have to be a poll of only people who understand aspect ratios and do not have a preference of aspect ratios other than what looks good for a particular movie. In other wor...

I honestly dont understand it, and would like a little insite as to why so many people on here come across this way in terms of negativity towards bluray. I mean fantasia is go...
