Re: Alice in Wonderland Discussion
I don't think Disney makes mistakes with this sort of stuff. I suspect it was cheaper to not author a new blu ray and they figured most of the people into 4K wouldn't care. I suspect I am among the few who buys 4K sets for the regular blu ray included hahaha (I do this mostly for better transfers an...

Re: Alice in Wonderland Discussion
Hi,
So the reviews are out... and it seems the blu ray included in the 4K release has the old transfer. Dammit! I guess I will not be buying this: I bought Cinderella and SW for the new transfers on the regular blu rays... I don't own nor foresee owning a 4K player. Booooo Disney!

Re: Beauty and the Beast Discussion
Hey everyone! Long time no see... Damn, those segments of the 35mm print of BATB look almost 3D at times, with the added contrast. And Kyle, you did a great job adjusting the colors. Not every shot is perfect, but it really brought back memories. And dammit, Belle's hair is BROWN again. Fareb... sen...

Re: Sleeping Beauty Discussion
Yes, Disney's Divinity is correct. It's in the bonus material. SB was the #2 box office hit of 1959, behind only Ben-Hur. But indeed, the budget was so high that it couldn't recoup it's cost. With subsequent re-releases it paid for itself and then some. And if you add all the merch... that movie has...

Re: Once Upon a Studio (WDAS Short)
What a great behind-the-scenes feature... I wish it was on Disney+
(also wish they made more bonus stuff like this for their blu ray releases!)

Ooooh... that cape is hideous (on the doll). I hope it's not like that in the movie. Looks pretty psychedelic... it's the 1970's!

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
Thumper, I'm afraid I don't have an opinion on the blue overskirt, the images aren't clear enough for me to judge.
And I agree that the crown should have been gold (maybe with more details/ornate than the animated one)

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
There's something that has been bothering me about the queen's costume.... and I couldn't figure it out at first. I mean, the lack of the white collar (or any high collar) is one issue. I realized part of what's bothering me is the shape of the crown: in the animated film, the crown flares out from ...

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
Oof.... just saw the clip of Whistle While You Work.... My opinion: Rachel's acting.... oof. It either feels like she is flirting (handing off the broom) or like she talking down to the dwarfs (no pun intended)... The way she starts the songs feels like she is performing on a stage... way over the t...

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
Damn, that all looks... so... so... ...FAKE. It feels like everything other than the (average sized) humans is full CGI. The sets, the animals, the props... And her dress looks like a halloween costume. They'd better explain why she wears that for most of the film... The queen's costume looks ok, bu...

Re: Lilo & Stitch (Live-Action)
It does look good... but I would prefer it if they used a mix of puppets/animatronics and CGI so it doesn't look so obviously fake.

Re: Zootopia 2
I don't have any strong thoughts on the stuff from the presentation.... I will definitely watch it cause I think the first one is brilliant. Two concerns: 1) The annoying puns linked to other recent Disney owned films/shows at the beginning... 2) Ke Huy Quan: I like the guy, a lot. But they'd better...

Re: Official Enchanted Thread-Part 2
So someone online reconstructed the original ending, using the same leaked footage (which sotiris has gracefully offered)... the song is clearly a demo, but it kinda works with the footage:

Re: Official Enchanted Thread-Part 2
Thank you, Sotiris! I will be reaching out to you... I had a chance to ask Kevin Lima (the director) a question like a year ago, and I asked them what was meant to happen during the deleted song "Enchanted". Here is what he said: "Yeah, we did shoot the entire song! They sing to each ...

Re: Inside Out 2
I am relieved... I was terrified Pixar was going to mess this one up. They didn't. No spoilers. I thought the movie was excellent and very much a worthy sequel to the original. The structure of the film is similar, but explores different scenarios and stages and shows more of the pieces that make up...

Honestly, neither scene scared me. But the queen's transformation was (and still is) my favorite part of that movie.

Re: Beauty and the Beast Discussion
Hey Escapay,
Thanks for that info.
So what do you think of the footage on those "dream big princess" commercials? Do you know where those are sourced from? Is that the 2016 DCP?
I admit the footage in those is a big improvement over the current blu ray...

Damn... I thought I was going to hate it... but I heard it, and it's great. I think it fits the tone of the movie and the ride perfectly.
I'm looking forward to going on this ride when it opens!

Re: RIP Richard Sherman
Noooo!!! This is awful! Such a loss.
I watched him perform live 9 years ago... at age 86! And he was AMAZING. Sang, played the piano, told stories... full of energy and life.
Great loss, but great legacy as well. RIP Richard Sherman
