DVD Terms & Technical Things

I was going to search for a thread like this, but I didn't really know exactly what to search for. I looked for about 10 pages, though, and on the main site, but found nothing, so I hope it's okay. If any of you mods feel this thread is bad or simply just stupid, I apologize and you can close it if you feel it is needed.
Here we go. I don't want to sound like an idiot, but sometimes when I'm reading a review of a DVD, I don't quite understand all of the technical terms used and I can't make an opinion of the DVD. I made this thread so that anyone who doesn't understand a specific term can come here and ask what it means. If you don't exactly understand what I'm talking about, here's a question I have that confused me:
"What is edge enhancement? I read that this was the main problem with Beauty & the Beast's DVD, and I'd like to know exactly what that term means so that I can understand what exactly the problem is."
I hope this thread can help a lot of people who aren't very familiar with this kind of stuff.
