While watching "Beauty and the Beast" I realised something.

The Beast has ten years to find love, which he must do before his 21st birthday. When he does transform at the end of the film, he appears to be 21, meaning he was 11 when he was cursed. When Chip the cup transforms, he appears to be about 4 years old.

Making him -6 when he was cursed. Ooops!

I also watched "Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas" and it shows him as 11 years old. In "Beauty and the Beast" he shreds a portrait of himself in which he looks 21...


Oh-er.

Anyone notice any other bloopers?

Yeah, the filmmakers really should have thought that through a little more. I think I might know one or two other bloopers in Disney films, but I can't think of any right now.

Haha. I've had the same thought before. I even discussed it with my mom who is a huge BATB fan. The discussion only went around in circles, leaving me horribly confused, so I just dropped the topic.

Yeah I also thought about this before too. I have two possibilities.

1. Maybe only the Beast grew older while all the other characters stayed the same exact same age.

2. Maybe Chip was born a cup!

Well, since the castle has been put under an enchantment, it's very plausible that time within the castle doesn't work quite the same. Ten years in the world outside could very possibly equal out to be only a few castle years. I doubt the creators of the film thought this out, but I still think it makes a logical explanation.

Come to think of it, there's a little something else that I find a bit more disturbing. Who in the world is Chip's father? Perhaps that would make for an interesting direct-to-video sequel?

hmm... I have never even thought about that and I've seen that movie over and over again...

The robin who whistles with Mary Poppins during "A Spoonful of Sugar" is a male (red breasted).

Male robins do not sing.

In "Finding Nemo", the fish blink. Fish do not have eyelids.

Fish also dont talk. But I dont believe this is a "blooper". I think Pixar put this into the movie to make the fish feel more believable.

But the Mary Poppins thing is cool. I think I heard that the robin contained tons of wires that had to run through Julie's costume. Also, I think it is actually Julie's whistling used for the robin that was pre-recorded before the shoot.

Pixar are aware of that. At least that's what they said on the DVD.

Walt himself knew that and said once "In a Disney picture all birds sing"

if that´s the case, then why the penguins didn´t sing?

Belle's front door in "Beauty and the Beast" opens in different ways. When throwing Gaston out, it opens outwards so he falls past her. In the next shot, when throwing his boots out, the door opens inwards.

Yeah, there was a similar debate about Winnie the Pooh, actually. Some people felt that the stuffed animal characters shouldn't blink to make them feel more like stuffed animals, but the winning argument was that they'd have no life to them without that simple act.

In other words, it's normal to twist facts around and use a bit of artistic license to improve the story and characters. And besides, not letting them blink would be kinda creepy!

And yes, that was Julie's whistling for the part of the mechanical robin.
